I apologize in advanced if this topic has been posted up; I can't seem to find it under the hundreds of topics that are already posted in this section.

Anyway, back to the topic: What's the worst mold you guys have ever purchased?

For me, the only one I can think of right now is Universe Tankor and that's because he's sitting right in front of me as I type. I just don't like the way he was built. The character had so much potential. I suppose due to his class and being a triple changer at that, he suffers from limitations. Were he a Voyager or a Leader class, maybe he would've turned out well? :???:

So sound off! I'm very interested in hearing about molds from various TF lines you hate or feel disappointed with.

I never had the toy, but for some reason I knew to stay away from it. Do you still own him?

Most PCCs aren't doing so well in the popularity department
The only PCC I got was Huffer. He's not too bad, but not the greatest mold either. If you mean to rid yourself of DoubleClutch, I recommend you sell him. Either that, or if you're into kitbashing and whatnot, use his parts. There's always a use of TFs ;)

Universe Galvatron. I can see a lot of potential in the figure, but it really needed to be Voyager class and less kibbly. I think the larger size might have provided a better transformation scheme that would have prevented three quarters of the tank hanging off his shoulders and the back of his legs.

G2 Megatron.

I love the toy. He's fun. At the same time, he's got all the articulation of a brick. It's sad because if you compare him to Laser Rod Prime, a figure of almost perfection - it just leaves a tragic feeling.

Hmm...I really hate to diss my TFs but I'm gonna have to go with movie ROTF Sideways. Nothing stays together. He's flimsy, his legs come off, the car parts on his back can't snap in anywhere and they flop around loosely, it's really hard to secure the wheels in the correct position behind the legs. What really erks me though, is that he's all gray when he should be silver and black, and he's not a licensed Audi R8 coupe. The Sideways Sneak Attack variation looks much better though, even featuring a correct Audi R8 "blade" by the door.
Second worst would be movie ROTF Soundwave. Good quality in parts, but none of his pieces snap or secure together in any mode, so he is very floppy in all his modes, and he has way too much kibble for his height in robot mode.
Please note: If you think I may be joking, I probably am.

I have to agree that a Voyager class would've solved a lot of issues with Galvatron. Although, strangely enough, I quite enjoyed the figure. He just needed to be a respectable size.

I don't own those, but I know that Optimus Prime gets a ton of flak amongst the fandom. Personally, I think the design they were going for would've been great had attention been given to the mold; it just looks half-assed. Megatron, however, I've heard and seen very little of but I'm willing to assume he's the better mold of the two.

Agreed! :D I also think that Laser Rod Prime is a much better looking one than the new Generations one that's coming out. At least from what I've seen so far anyway.

Oh yes. I remember their transformation to be the most simplistic of them all. It really disappointed me seeing how cool Goldbug was in the show, while in toy he looked like crap.

X-Wing Luke Skywalker. I bought him on impulse and just regretted it ever since. Bad proportions, poor transformation .... it's been a while since I touched it, but it just left me feeling like I wasted my money.

FunPub Nightbeat (The Energon Hot Shot) mold is pretty bad too, although I feel oddly good about the buy. Maybe because I went in with eyes open and knew what i was getting before I got it.

#1 worst heartbreak of a mold: TFTM Payload.

If not for the HUGE fricking plunger on his back, and the fact that the head/shoulder piece falls off in a gentle breeze, it could have been an excellent figure. But those two things just destroy it, and I actually have it in my Knockoffs box instead of on my shelves.

#1 worst modern figure: PCC Doubleclutch, as has been said.

It's sad - the Rallybots are actually among the best of the limbs, but Doubleclutch is fragile, as articulated as a brick thanks to a bad transform scheme, and otherwise sucktastic.

Anyone know how to get Doubleclutch's combiner mode head off? It's very similar to Jazz, and would be a great addition to my bitz box.

This.

I was going to say ROTF Ravage, but at least he looks good in panther mode (and with a G1 paint job ;) ). Soundwave doesn't really look like anything in his alt-mode(s), and his bot mode is ugly. Maybe if they would have tried for a larger figure something could have been made of it...

Kicker from the Deluxe Energon Highwire set... or Kicker in any given physical incarnation... because he's Kicker, and thus is terrible by default.

Oh, and any human figures in the TF line overall.

Yeah I'm still gonna get Ravage even though so many people complain (hey I collect all the main movie figs now). I want the G1 paint job and the legends class.

This might have to be Energon Ironhide. He's is overly cartoony, his head is very visable in alt mode and the toy is a disgrace to the legacy of someone as awesome as Ironhide.

Attention to detail would have helped Optimus a lot. His robot mode is actually a pretty great homage to his G1 self, if not for the gimmick hindrance. Even when you have it "locked" it never feels solid. Posed next to other Deluxe OPM though he fits right in. Vehicle mode is his VERY weak point. If his legs would have slid or collapsed in some way would have gone a long way towards a great figure. He just looks like someone stuck something resembling the cab of a semi on 40 feet of legs and took a bong break.

Megatron has a very interesting and entertaining vehicle mode (IMHO), but his robot mo..... One minute,.... his feet are backwards,....

(5 minutes later with a screwdriver,..)

Okay his robot mode. His arms do not really lock into his shoulders and his right arm is destroyed by a gimmick in which his arm flails like he is a very deranged lil bot. His left arm has basic articulation, but his hand looks as if it stuck in some evil cup of doom,.... very G1,..... no good for a "modern" toy.

I don't really regret any purchases, but my least favorite toy is first Movie Legends Megatron. He's weirdly lanky and his arms don't stay in. Movie Legends Starscream is also disappointing, with a rather simplistic transformation (even considering the class) and difficulty standing.

Did you happen to flip the small, triangular panels here?:
Image
Flipping those up allows more room for the 'backpack', letting those slots near the doors snap onto the tabs on the back.

This one I agree and disagree with.

(Digs him out of a box to look over)

Okay great Vehicle mode IMHO, but once transformed (fiddles to get him in robot mode)
That Cannon arm, though neat looking has been coming apart since I opened him up,.... Oxygen seems to disintegrate the pegs holding it together. Other than that ( missile fires without warning). Screw this thing,.....
