A giant MP Devestator would also be cool, Could see that but would it be orignial style with six vehical and how would they combine. The only problem I see with any mp combiner of any sort is haveing to deal with figuring out how to make them combine as well as being super detailed. So what do you think any other problem that could arise or do just think that it would be worth doing.

If it scaled with current MP releases then hell yes. But then it would also probably cost about $600 so I'd never be able to afford one.

One major problem. It would be huge, & expensive...
Unless they made the individual 6 smaller, but that would mean less detail.

a Masterpiece Predaking would most definately be worth doing 8)

Granted i do not believe that we will ever see a Masterpiece gestalt as i believe that the mechanics involved would be too complex and (sadly) too expensive. Takara and Hasbro decided not to release that Beast Wars Neo Unicron due to it's costs' putting it out of the range of the average fan (or so they thought, i would have bought it) and i think that they would look upon a Masterpiece gestalt as too much of an expensive risk.

However i would look at a Masterpiece Predaking as the jewel in my collection.

Only if they re-work the fragile connecting pieces from the G1 Devastator. The piece that connects Mixmaster and Scrapper to Long Haul, for example.

I'd buy a Superion and a Menasor, though, since I somewhere at my parents house still have both of them in G1...it'd be great to put the G1 original next to the MP.

Maniac23, what you're forgetting is that MP's aren't for the average fan, they're for the collector.

I am not forgetting anything (and for the record don't tell people what they are saying/thinking etc...make a suggestion ;;) ) I never stated that the Masterpieces' were for the average fan and i could have been clearer on my point so i can see the mis-interpretation.

What i should have added was that the Beast Wars Neo Unicron was pulled from production due to Takara/Hasbro believing that its' cost took it outwith the price range of the average fan and that a Masterpiece gestalt, what with it's complex workings and expenses, would take it out with the price range of even collectors as well as average fans who may decide to dabble in the Masterpiece line.

I mean they did originally release Masterpiece Optimus Prime as its' 20th Anniversary counterpart and it was aimed at the average fan, as well as collectors. In the end, what i am saying, is that a Masterpiece gestalt would be looked upon as an expensive gamble on Takara/Hasbros' parts and i doubt they would take the risk of alienating their average fan base, as well as the collectors.

An actual Masterpiece combiner? No. Too expensive, too much hassle getting all the figures. Besides, $550.00+ is a lot of money for toys, especially in a single run.

Now, if they could take Leader Class (or even Voyager Class) molds and give them some semblance of Masterpiece engineering and turn that into a combiner...oh yeah. I'd be all over that like Rabies on a Raccoon.

Yes. But there's still the Soul of Chogokin line if you're after high-end die-cast combiners (like GX-13 Dancougar).

I have to disagree. There were Star Wars staues going for 4-500, and sold. I think it should be a limited run, perhaps 1000 pieces (or less) sold as a set, OR sell them seperate for 80 - 100 a piece. I agree that if Devatator is the first, the waist/legs connector needs to be stronger.

I for one would like to see a 'cartoon scale' series where the figures are the scale to their vehicular modes.
So G1 figures like Astrotrain, Jetfire and Grimlock would be larger than Starscream and Mirage, with some exceptions (I would want Megatron to be larger). This was the aerialbots would be the same size as the decepticon seekers.

Thoughts?

Not my cup of tea.

Although Gunbuster, Voltes/Combattler V look fantastic.

I prefer the original Dancouga (1985) that was shown in another thread last week or so.

In theory...yes, and I doubt there would be many collectors who would say no (in theory).

However in real life, I'd have to give it a no-no. The size and weight of such a figure would be huge, you'd need an Olympic Weightlifter in order to move the damn thing, not to mention some very strong, perhaps even industrial shelving to house it on.

The stress on the connector joints would be great as well (if they connected it in a similar fashion to G1 or Energon).
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

Hmm... three to three and half feet tall combined. 25 to 30 pounds. It could be done. Now if you're looking to make it toon accurate. Four and half to five feet tall, 40-45 lbs. Also possible but terribly Expensive even parted out over time.

You'd not only be buying the characters but also connection pieces, thighs, forearms, head, torso shield... weapons. $750 to $1000 dollars to complete. It's possible, I have enough MP Figures now to cover the price... but the investment would seen overwhelming enough to typical collectors to scare them off the commitment. Not to mention there's no certainty that Takara could invest enough time into the six year run that it would require to sort out the pieces and trickle feed them to the fanbase consumers.

Yeah or some of the movie deluxe figures and give them alternator/binaltech material and design. I for one would like a sturdy and bigger movie jazz and bumblebee.
Leader Prime would be great if he was in the Masterpiece scale. Both he and 20th Prime would be side by side as the centerpiec of my collection.

I'm hoping they do a combiner in one of the movie sequels. It would rock to have Devastator with each constructicon done at voyager scale.

At masterpiece scale, I'm going to have to side with others on this thread. My day-dreamer/gee whiz side says cool, but my bank balance says no. From a practical standpoint, if you scale it up the weight and the stresses involved might be too much. Probably not feasible with die-cast. I can sort of imagine one sitting on my shelf, and the enormous crash if it tipped over. Even in plastic, it'd probably break. In die-cast it might be enough to kill a kid.

The day Takara seriously considers making a MP gestalt is the day they greenlight a MP Fortress Maximus.

I have to agree price would be an issue and how much time it would take to produce the figures since it seems that mp figures are produced every couple of yrs so if you had six figures that would be about 12 yrs to get a complete set 10 yrs for five figure set. So I guess it really isn't very realistic but oh well we can dream can't we.

If they did an MP Stunticons, then the individual componants (apart from Motermaster) would be smaller than the current MPs to stay roughly in scale, and I'd happily buy that.

MP Airealbots? Nah

I think it depends on what they'd do and how they did it.

Here here!
I'd probably sell internal organs to get an MP Predaking or Devesator! The only thing I'd want more than that is an MP Grimlock.

I would love to have one......make mine Menasor!!!!! I would think that if Takara did do one, it would be scaled down to the MP size and would be similar to the high end Voltron that came out a few years ago. Dont think that they would use as much diecast as the Voltron.....even though they should.

You never know.....Tomy is kinda on the skids right now with the whole toy recall thing, and Japan's population is getting older. Takara/Tomy has stated that they want gear to an older audience. With the MPs we have seen so far, we might just get a Devastator.......or Menasor

There is at least one custom Alt Menasor out there.

And honestly, that would be the best place for Menasor. He'd stay in scale with the Masterpiece figures and be a lot cheaper over all.
