Now THAT would be cool. Bring it back Rocky Horror style, with weekly showings at small places, with fan-rituals every week.

But I mean, like, they could try to fix some errors and mistakes (if possible) and then re-run it on DVD's like they do with all the films. With subtitles and everything.
Or do they do it only on European DVD's? 'Cause I live in Europe.

Re: Would anyone freak out if they did a live action G1 movie?
You could never just do the old G1 movie in CG/3D. The animation is so bad that the discrepancies in size and stuff would turn it into a muddy acid trip. Hell, in one scene Unicron's robot mode varies in size by like 300%, just from shot to shot to shot. It would be unwatchable.
And that doesn't even figure in all the dated designs, dialogue, and music, or the fact that the whole plot was basically an excuse to roll out the new toy line. A movie like that released today would get less than 1% of the viewership that the Bay movies pull in, and even those people would probably find things to complain about.
I will never understand people that still cling to G1 like it's the greatest thing ever. It was the greatest thing ever AT THE TIME, but guess what? A lot has happened since then. It's like sitting around playing Atari 2600 and pissing all over anybody who likes the Xbox 360.

I'm a huge movie fan, but I wouldn't mind at all, just don't think it'd work.
Because it would look like freaking roger rabbit or space jam in terms of realism next to live actors. I remember playing the movie games and thinking man how out of place does Blockimus Prime here look against the scenary. The designs of G1 look better in comics or cartoons than they would ever in real life. Especially since they often ignored scale completely. Just like some super hero costumes just look silly in real life compared how they are in comics. Not everything translates well.
As for the story, G1 has basically been retreaded several times. All following stories are just variations of why transformers come to earth. Copy-pasting the exact G 1 story seems rather superflueous.
The 86 film would require major updating as it's story has more plotholes than either of bay's films. Besides I hated it the first time around and I don't particularly look forward to watching the majority of transfofmers I know and love get wasted all over again. As a stand alone experience the deaths have no meaning to people who never knew who they were in the first place so it's over all a terrible story to simply revamp. It bombed for a reason back in the day. Let that movie rest in peace.

Logical wise, G1 designs will never ever work in the real life/live action setting from the very start.
The way it designed looks so identical to the aesthetics of 70s to present Super Robots(or even Real Robots category) in japanese animes makes you wanna say: "How in the world the billion year old alien race looks that way?!"

So? It's a fantasy, a fictitious universe. You go there to be entertained not to analyse every nanosecond of detail. It really wouldn't bother me if they did a G1 movie. I'd still love it. Why do we have to worry about realism and stuff it's fantasy enjoy it for what it is.

Because you're talking about taking a 2-D image and converting it into 3-D without updating it at all. To many, having a 3-D blocky design transform from a real-life vehicle looks unrealistic. Fantasy aside, film makers want there to be a sense of realism with the transformations. Look at any of the Bayverse designs in how they incorporate the altmode into the robot mode. It's not simply "Front end of vehicle forms chest, with like-colored arms and legs coming out of no where". In my opinion, the look of G1 wouldn't translate to Live-Action all that well. As a cartoon movie, obviously there would be no problem. But the trend in Hollywood seems to be away from 2D animation and more towards 3D animation or Live-Action with CGI.
And besides the animation aspects of it, I don't want them to keep retreading the same ideas. Paying homage to different series is great, but taking them wholly and redoing them seems archaic and unimaginative, and more of a step backwards than a step forwards.
Currently in need of: RID Rail Spike robot mode head (not Rail Racer's head); RID Midnight Express gun; RID Rapid Run missile; Animated Ultra Magnus' Hammer

Personally, I'd love to see this happen. Look how cool this was, and this was just a rough graphic design.

They could certainly take the best parts and modernise it WITHIN REASON. However, Michael Bays the biggest fan EVER so hes redesigned everybody and even give some characters completely different personalities....Bay knows best. Jokes aside, I really hope he pulls somethin out the bag for DOTM, he has to. Schumacher never got another shot at the title after Batman and Robin, Bays got another chance, a chance to shut me up, I genuinely hope he does.

Problem is, the story takes place on earth, the real world where Obama is the president of the united states, thomas edison invented the electric light, etc. etc. and of course, the geometrical humanoid robot design was conceived by the japanese for the japanese animation since 1970s(or possibly late 60s).
Don't use the word fantasy as a big excuse or scapegoat just to ignore common sense.

Well the video shows the limitation of G1 designs, doesn't have much freedom of movement and mobility like the arms and legs doesn't fully bend more than 90 degress(human can fully bend arms and legs until it reached to the shoulders or thighs) etc. Since they were a living humanoid organism rather than industrial made robots, they should have the same mobility as humans or any other humanoid creatures.
The movie designs has a heck a lot more mobility, that's why we see them making a cool dynamic poses in promotional pics(like Movie Optimus Prime poses ala-spiderman)
G1 designs will only work if the story change into something like this:

By the way, does anyone know where I could watch this movie in the Internet?
'Cause i've tried "Youtube" and it doesn't show the first part of the movie and "Veoh!" only shows a 5-minute beginning.
(Seriously, what the "F" is goin' on with the net?)
I've been planning on watching this movie this whole week. I even started myself by watching "More Than Meets the Eye" 3-parter.

If that ever happpened would people get angry about it? Or would picky geeks tear it to shreds?
Of course someone would. Probably lots of someones. Just as people freak out over Bay's movies (what has he screwed up now?), or the fact that people don't like those movies (how dare you have an opinion that's different from the rest of us), there would be people who would freak out over the fact that people who don't like Bay's movies might, finally, have something they could actually enjoy.
People are never happy unless they know someone else is miserable, particularly those with the same hobby.

hmmm my main problem with G1 has always been the mass thing...
now, i am a huge decepticon fan and i love good old megs, and when i was a kid megatron was my favorite toy ever. i got a gun with bits to stick on assassin stylee and when i was bored of playing spy i could transform him and have a frikken robot to play with.
robot that turns into a hand gun? awesome toy, god awfull character. you have 2 choices megs turns into a hand gun and flies around on his own shooting stuff... too stupid for words, just never cool. or he turns into a gun and is used by someone else... how is that suitable for a leader?
i have super destructive powers but i cant use them on my own? also super dumb.
plus soundwave turning from giant robot to human scale tape recorder? yeah, dont buy it never liked it. yeah ive heard the whole space bridge dimensional technologie but thats BS why not just "transform" into a microscopic undetectable alt form then?
what it come down to is G1 is a great toy line but the characters need a serious makeover to work in a "serious" movie oh and i am not saying bay is the man to do it, at all...
a new TF movie that is actually about the TFs and has characters that run true to their G1 selves at least in behaviour and general apperance, yeah i would be all over that!

If it was based on the American cartoon, no, I wouldn't freak. If it was based on any of the comics, the Japanese cartoons, or was yet another new G1 continuity I'd freak big time.

Well he looks like the Wreck-Gar from the animated movie, but not as square and blocky. Same colours and same motorbike shape.

And various other images
