Don't have one. I'm just going to put it out.

Okay, I'm just going to sober up a second and ask you a serious question. Are you looking to make money out of this, or is this for personal pleasure?
Because the way you're behaving, you're really not going to get any customers this way.
Why are you being so hush-hush about this? You could have posted an excerpt here and politely asked if anyone is interested in reading further. You know, like normal people. Instead, you attempted to use reverse psychology, started with your Dalai Lama schtick, and for what? You got some attention, but it's the kind that works against you.
Hell, if you acted like a well-adjusted individual (or at least a properly medicated one), any one of us might be a potential reader who'd pay to read your work IF it's good. This whole "take me as I am or leave it" thing isn't doing you any favors. Because no matter how good your writing is, you're just going to turn people away.
You might not like what Shadow has to say, but he makes a good point.

Money. I didn't know normal people did that.

I could be totally wrong, but no links, no excerpts... I'll believe it when I see it.
Until then, this is just a bait topic in my book.
Shadowman wrote:SlyTF1 wrote:Money. I didn't know normal people did that.
What, sell their work for money, or just give it away for the sake of the art? Because I've seen it go both ways, sometimes with the same book.
SlyTF1 wrote: I'm not trying to get everyone to read it just yet, only those who's attention my original post got. If that turned you off, maybe you're not who I'm looking for at the moment.

So you're targeting the S&M crowd? Well, Seibertron does have it's fair share of deviants.![]()

I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean.

Really though, can you blame me for thinking that way? You've been really pushing the narcissism here lately...

I mean the excerpt thing. It's a short story, I'm not trying to reveal too much about it, else there'd be no reason to read it.
SlyTF1 wrote:I'm not trying to get everyone to read it just yet, only those who's attention my original post got. If that turned you off, maybe you're not who I'm looking for at the moment. I got about 5 people who actually wanted to read it, that's all I need, money.

Well, what do you want me to do? Lie? I don't lie, and I don't do facades.

Oh yeah, tons of writers do that. Like a demo for a video game or a "sneak peek" clip for a movie.

Says the person trying to convince everyone that he's God and/or a higher being.![]()
You know that thing about a lie told 100 times? Well it's a myth. You can keep trying to convince us that you're God, or a reincarnated Dalai Lama or L. Ron Hubbard reborn until you're in your deathbed, but we'll still all pronounce you, "smug, narcissistic kid."
The only one crazy enough to believe you're God has sadly been banned for trying to convince Burn he's the Hulk. And he's been trying a lot harder than you have.

Exactly. If people think you're a ****, they won't want to buy your work. For instance, I was a lot less inclined to read Ender's Game when I found out Orson Scott Card is a massive homophobe. The same with L Ron Hubbard when I found out he was a racist, misogynistic homophobe who started a fake religion as an admitted cash grab.
SlyTF1 wrote:I'm not trying to convince anyone. I couldn't give a **** what you believe. But I know who and what I am, and if you don't believe me, that's your fault, not mine.
Burn wrote:But whether a person believes you or not isn't really the point.
Like Shadowman, I won't touch any of Hubbard or Scotts stuff because of THEIR beliefs. Even if they didn't put their personal beliefs into their work, I'm still not going to touch it because of who they are as people.
And given your attitude JUST IN THIS THREAD, there is no way in hell I will touch any of your stuff.
I know what you're going to say, you don't care. That's fine. But pull your head out of your ass long enough for this to sink in.
If you want to be an author, if you want to make a living from writing, you're going to have to interact with other human beings. If you continue to act towards other human beings as you do to us you will fail.
You may say you don't care what people think of you, but if you TRULY want to make something from your writings, you're going to have to change your attitude.
Or alternatively you can stay cooped up in your home hating on humanity with this **** up misguided belief you're above the rest of humanity, and then proceed to die alone, lonely, and never remembered.

This thread has me thinking though, how many of us act the same online, as we do in real life. Can Sly really be that much of an **** in person? Can shadowman? Does the late Duragrip really think he can be Batman? Is Madeous really still in high school? Think about it.
For me, I'm much more likely to state how I really feel online. In real life, in person if you will, I'm much kinder. I generally believe humans are worth the benefit of the doubt. Online, I'm much quicker to dismiss somebody as a joke or piece of trash, and it m not sure that's the right thing to do.
Maybe Sly is making one big cry for help?

Yes. It's because it seeps into their works. It's usually subtle, depending on the writer, but then you get people like Ayn Rand and L Ron Hubbard who wrote stories just as a vehicle for their personal philosophies.SlyTF1 wrote:And I wouldn't expect to die any other way.
Way to aim low.SlyTF1 wrote:The only difference being, is that people in real life actually like me, because I'm an "*******."
And much like your claims to being a god, I'm calling **** on that one.
