XP management

Postby _Anshin_ » Thu Mar 10, 2011 8:37 am

So my curious questions of the day is this.

Do you promote your soldiers as soon as you have enough XP or do you bank it so that you can level to the next level -1? Do you find that it better to sit at a particular level to harvest XP or do you put your points into the next level so that you can become more successful in your fights and therefore gather copious amounts of XP to improve?

It depends on who it is. Some have to wait to get certain upgrades while other can get then them as asap. Then there are other times were I'll shift XP from a tactic to a stat and then rebuild the tactic.

I've been trying to do that, but for some reason I feel like I am not maximizing my XP that I could be getting for a day. At level 2 I am only doing about 10k a day with each of my 2s and 3k for my 1s or my test groups. I am not getting wiped (unless they are uneven matches of 2 vs 5) and I don't count the insta-wipe matches where the toon gets taken out in the first minute from 3 shots from another toon 3+ levels greater.

Just trying to learn to maximize my play style to my time on for the greatest effect. Eventually I would like to pose a challenge for some of the members here that have been grinding me beneath their heels.

There are different playing styles. I tent to look at my stats first in an "action master" type way and then add the tactics there after. However I do have a few that cannot be reset, so I have to be careful of what I do with them.

I also play from the bottom up. Meaning my team for the most part are all about even a few k XP apart from each other rather than one at the top with a crap load of XP and the bottom one still at level 0. While others favor their top bot.

Well I started off with the top down method, but it lent horribly to my testing data collection so now I have a staggered team.

I have 3 bots that I test with that are high and three that are low. I have 4 others that I keep around regularly with a solid build and then I have 2 that I leave as the control group for the 3 and 3 variables. The testing gets harder as I gain levels. Sometimes things work out great, for example putting 7 points into something like intelligence really didn't help my rammer and was easy to identify no noticeable gain and a negative impact. However when I gain levels it makes it harder to figure out if I should split between the three tertiary stats into a fourth stat (STR/SPD/CRG then adding Endurance or Rank).

Do you find that this helps your robots out gaining xp and surviving better or do you not really notice any difference by doing it this way?

Well it's hard to say if it helps as i've always done the two upgrades to level up thing (so nothing to compare it with) but i do find that levelling up leads to better xp gains.
