Hey guys, I've really been wanting a (not) Devastator, and between Giant and Hercules, the choices couldn't be better. While Hercules has more of an IDW styling, I'm really digging on Giant. Sadly, by the time I saw there was a Green Giant, they're all sold out. There's been a reissue of the Yellow Giant, with the issues of the first set being fixed, but I do like the G1 accurate color of the Green Giant.
Should I drop the money now to get the Yellow Giant, or should I wait for a reissue of the Green Giant? Or is there not going to be another reissue of the Green Giant?
I tried to find info on Maketoys website, but they direct you to Facebook for their updates (I don't have a facebook). What do you think?

I really hope there's a green reissue somewhere down the line. I can wait a while though, and would appreciate them warning us well beforehand.
Of course there's also the option to buy it on the secondary market, but of the few people I know who have owned both, they've all kept Giant, so not sure how many will be out there.

assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

I just checked. A lot of people are asking for another production run of Green Giant but Maketoy hasn't addressed any of them.
If I were you, I'd wait for Green if only to avoid getting a first version Yellow that could still be sitting in stock.

Beast Hunters is coming. Well played Mayans.

Ive got yellow Giant and I love him. I gave him the Reprolabels set and he looks great. If youre into G2 stuff I highly recommend him. I also have Herc. I gave him the Reprolabels and Crazydevy add-ons to get rid of that lousy IDW look.

There are some on Ebay, but they're going for the same price as Hercules. I don't have that much in the budget for a TF, especially one that is normally $200 cheaper. I'm holding out hope for a green reissue

Sure, I'd hate to get a first version yellow, but if Maketoys isn't reissuing green (big mistake on their part considering demand), I'd rather have a first issue yellow than nothing. I just am concerned on how long is too long to hold out.

I never really watched any G2 (I was in high school at the time, and was still kinda bitter about Transformers killing off Optimus and Megatron) so I don't know how close it was to the G1 stylings. Funny thing is, all these years being colorblind, I thought Devastator was a pale yellow, considering construction vehicles are yellow anyway. So, when the yellow version came out, I was miffed that they got the color slightly off. Then when they released the "green giant", it clicked! It was a revelation for me that he was actually green! Now when I see Hercules, he's more of a pea soup green, and definitely looks like an IDW incarnation of Devastator. So, in short, I'd love a Green Giant, if it's worth waiting for, but I really want to make the decision before the yellow sells out. I'd hate to be S.O.L. on both.

Wait and get the version you want, is my advice. You'll be happier for it.
MT will likely reissue it, even if it takes a while. And there's the rumor of a KO version, although that's a few years old now.

There's a store that has it. Although it's a fairly obscure store.

It's not so much the color that you need to be worried about.
It's the features.
Yellow was the prototype. Green is their mass production set.
Green has the following additions:
-Hook's crane is removable and can become a weapon both for him and Devastator.
-Long Haul's codpiece extends *cue laughing* to allow the hips to have better range of motion.
-Devastator has longer arms at the elbows, plus the exhaust pipes are painted silver. (Most people actually prefer the shorter arms of the first run yellow.)
-Interchangeable heads for Devastator. One's his original Giant head, and one's a grimacing angry face that actually looks like it's smiling.
Yellow is just a straight forward, no frills version of the set. Personally, I like the no frills feel. Other than the waist mod for the green version, I feel my yellow set is missing nothing. At all.
Now, later runs of yellow (aka "warehouse finds") have the longer forearms of the Green set, meaning they're actually still producing yellow Giant, and not just green.
So, like I said, it really matters as to what features you want in your Giant. If you don't care about the additions of the Green set, then yellow will work. Not to mention, you can have it right now. I bought yellow, I love it. It's one of my favorite Transformers ever.

Re: Yellow Giant or wait for Green to come back?
whilst it is definitely worth bearing in mind the changes made between the original yellow run and the later green (and yellow) releases, I think the majority of people will have the colour as a one of their primary concerns. a beige and mauve version of the mold might still be engineered well, but it wouldn't immediately scream "devastator" to a lot of people. some people are happy with the yellow, some even preferred it, for use either as a Build King homage, or G2 Devy, or simply as a counterpoint to the green Hercules they also purchased, but for me, if I'm only able to afford one Devy (and that might be stretching the budget at this point anyway) I want one that's the right colour for the characters that I remember, and Maketoys green Giant fits that bill perfectly. Even if I could get the re-engineered one in yellow, I won't because it's not the colour I want.

If it helps, I have found Yahobby to be a decent site to buy stuff from. I ordered a few bits from them and have never been disappointed (I am in the UK) so you could do worse than buy Green Giant from them. Not sure what the US RRP is though, and whether this exceeds it.

YaHobby wants $439.99 before shipping. Since they're coming from HK (I believe), it'll be even more once shipping is added.
US sellers have to be cheaper than that. I can't imagine they've all jacked their prices up.
All of them seem to be out of stock of both yellow AND green. The only place I've found any in stock and more affordable than importing is TFSource.
The yellow set, located here: http://tfsource.com/maketoys/yellowgiant/
Wow. Those suckers have finally started selling out. Maketoys must've made a killin' off of this set.

When it hit U.S. stores, it retailed for around $350. It's around $100 more than that, then I have to worry about shipping costs. All said and done, I'd be better off buying one on Ebay for the same price, and I'd get it quicker.
That said, I'm glad you came on to give Yahobby a vote of confidence because all the reviews I found online weren't so kind.
