Kamjiin ran afoul of the Functionist Council early on. As an Action Master with no alternate mode, he was viewed as being handicapped. He wanted to join the Polyhex Security Forces as a detective, but was denied. Instead, he was made a reporter. When former Senator Shockwave of Tarn first met Kamjiin, he saw the potential immediately.
As Shockwave had aligned himself and Tarn with the nascent Deception Movement, he viewed the access provided by the young Cybertronian's press credentials as invaluable to the intelligence division Megatron had commissioned him to establish. And so, Kamjiin was placed in Command of a team of young Decepticons known as Zero Zero Section. Based out of Area 88 in Polyhex, Kamjiin would lead Zero Zero Section in many successful combat engagements and intelligence operations.
Shortly after the formation of the Maximal breakaway faction, Kamjiin and Zero Zero Section were captured while attempting to infiltrate the Maximal Council Hall to gather information for Shockwave. The other members of Zero Zero Section were executed for war crimes. Kamjiin was sent to the notorious prison facility known as Alchemor.
He languished there for years, until he was freed by a new faction, calling itself the Predacons. His loyalty was bought with the sparks of his former troops in Zero Zero Section. With his face being so readily recognizable, it was decided he would not be subjected to the Maximal Upgrade process. Instead, he was assigned a squad of Predacon recruits and attached to the Predacon intelligence division. He was also encouraged to continue his politically volatile broadcast program, Frontline. He became increasingly dissilusioned during this time, and his political views polarized further to the left.
He served the Predacons loyally for years, and even became close with several members, including Carnosaur, King Idiot, Sub Commander Bun-Bun, and Commander SS14. That all came to an end the day the Autobots broke the Predacon Lines and laid siege to the Tri-Predacus Council Chambers. Having a Decepticon body, and strong close combat skills, he agreed to hold the line so his comrades could escape. Kamjiin managed to hold the line until he was sure they were clear. As he made to break off, the Autobots called in an airstrike and levelled the Tri-Predacus Council Chambers. Kamjiin was buried alive.
It took many cycles to dig his way out, and recover the sparks of Zero Zero Section. He made his way to Dead End, his only remaining option to travel to the Relinquishment Clinic and obtain a new body to replace his failing Action Master Chassis, and new bodies for his squad. His new camera alt-mode is adequate, nay, appropriate. For years, Zero Zero Section moved in the shadows, homeless and destitute, taking vengeance on the Autobots whenever possible. Their base in the Predacon territory was now an Autobot factory. Area 88 in Polyhex crushed by Reavers. His old broadcast facility in Tarn, crushed by Maximals. Most of Cybertron laid waste.
Then came the fateful day. On a routine reconnaissance mission, he saw Bun-Bun. Not only was he alive, not only had he not come back to rescue Kamjiin from the rubble, but he wore the hated symbol of the Autobots. And marched in the company of Aleph, Kamjiin's hated enemy from his years with the Decepticons. So, with heavy heart, Kamjiin once more donned the insignia of the Decepticons, and stepped out of the shadows with a new mission.
