After the botched operation that nearly killed him, Methusalen gained a great appreciation for reconnaissance and intel. He knew that if he was going to start his own independent unit, they’d need to have their own informant to rely upon. He pulled a few strings, and with Swindle’s help ‘acquired’ spare parts from the Decepticons Buzzsaw and Laserbeak. Using their frames and main software as a base, and weapons, scrap, and various entertainment devices for extra parts, Bug Bite was able to apply his skills and scrape together a decent scout for Methusalen.
The problem remained of how to animate the little robot though. Kitbashing a body was one thing, but coming by a spark was an entirely different matter. The solution stumbled into Hellfyre Inc. one day in the form of a desperate Decepticon seeker. Apparently the voyeuristic fellow had been caught spying on a pair of high ranking RDD officials in a compromising position, and was now targeted for elimination.
Angelfyre tried to persuade the frantic peeping tom-bot that they’d never be able to tell him apart from the thousands of other seekers on the planet, but he insisted his only chance of survival was to change his name and his face. Methusalen, half jokingly, offered him the cobbled together little spy-bot as a body in exchange for his services. The Decepticon leapt at the offer, certain that no one would recognize him in such a clever disguise.
Methusalen repeatedly explained that the robot was a loose collection of spare parts and duct tape, but the seeker had already opened his chest compartment in preparation for the transference. Bug Bite went ahead with the job, and thus was born Buzzbeak.
Much to everyone’s consternation, the Decepticon seemed completely content with his new body, spending an hour preening in a mirror and admiring the ‘unique’ engineering. He remains convinced that Hellfyre Inc. saved his life, and as such has been devoted to their operation ever since.
He now spends every day doing what he always loved to do – spying. He’ll disappear for hours, only to return to the base and flit about anxiously amongst his comrades relating all forms of gossip – from troop movements and secret experiments to who has been grinding gears with whom. Methusalen usually appreciates the information, and has taken a great liking to the neurotic little gab, but even he admits that sometimes Buzzbeak brings back too much information.
Buzzbeak occasionally participates in interrogations, gossiping to anxious captives for hours or even days until they finally crack and begin spilling important information just to shut him up.
Abilities: Buzzbeak has an inexplicable knack for obtaining information with his long distance recording equipment. The intel he brings back has been a great boon to Hellfyre Inc, which, among other things, has established a lucrative income from blackmail. If forced to defend himself, Buzzbeak can attack enemies with an extensible laser-saw he had integrated into his frame. His patchwork-like construction allows him to survive amazing amounts of damage for his size, and pull himself together after almost everything. Additionally, Buzzbeak acts as the unofficial mediator of Hellfyre Inc. – problems never get the opportunity to build up, as he inevitably uncovers them and blabs them to everyone else on the team.
Weaknesses: Buzzbeak does have trouble prioritizing his objectives sometimes – he may spend hours watching a squad of femcons while an Autobot division walks by without his noticing. Because he was assembled from spare parts, some parts had to be 'bashed from other sources, and will sometimes overheat and shutdown until those components cool back down (or until he's repaired). Luckily for him, most members of the time have taken a bizarre affection for the nutty little bot, regarding him almost as their team mascot, so much so that they would go to great lengths to ensure his survival.
