Description:
Lion-hawk fuzor. Grey-blue. Wings barely a shade darker than body. Jet-black left front paw; thought among neutrals to be a sign of a great leader. Faded-black tail; tip is deep gold. Albino-red eyes.
Background:
Born a neutral, Sparkshift had never wanted to fight. His ideal was a far-off planet where the bots actually mattered to each other, no matter which side they took on a stupid matter. Then his village became the battleground between some Decepticons and a rogue Autobot team when he was twelve years old. He knows of none from his village who survived, other than himself. He became convinced that the rogue Autobots were the ones who started it, and rogue or no, he vowed to teach them a lesson that they would never forget. He signed on with the Decepticons, and was trained in the art of torture. He became so good at it that, after submitting three of his own designs to the Decepticon Coucil, he was promoted to Torture Master, or torture class teacher as the Decepticon children would think of him, and kept that position for 12 years.
During this period, he came across one of his old friends from the village--now a prisoner and victim-to-be of his latest design. His friend was shocked, and told Sparkshift all he knew of what had happened. A high-rank Decepticon had started the battle, had chosen their village as the battleground. His friend had watched them talking from the edge of the forest near their village, and had run to warn his friends, though he couldn't find Sparkshift; that's why Sparkshift hadn't been able to find anyone. Needless to say, Sparkshift was incensed. He freed his friend and the other prisoners at that base, took all student-age and younger Decepticons with him, obliterated the base, and ran for the nearest Autobot base, stripping symbols and asking for refuge. A battle followed hard on the heels of his betrayal, for the Decepticons wanted him either back or dead, whichever came first--for if you knew how to DO their torture techniques, you also knew how to UNDO them.
He still remembers the first time he saw Kalara. It was during the battle after his betrayal--his first as an Autobot. Kalara was fighting masterfully, gracefully, like an eagle in flight. After the group had returned, victorious, to a nearby base to recuperate, he approached her from behind as she was cleaning her sword, and tapped her on the shoulder. She whirled on him, laying the sharp of her blade at the base of his neck. Amused, he simply smiled at her and said, "Odd. Usually when you're trying to say hello to someone, they don't put a sword against your throat. I like it." He could see that he'd baffled her, and enjoyed the look; he always had, no matter who was wearing it. He quickly but gently removed the sword and returned it to her, hilt first. She took it quickly and motioned for him to sit down, eyeing him carefully. He shook his head. "Ladies first." She glared at him and crossed her arms. "Not 'til you do, clouds-for-brains." He chuckled at this and parried, "Clouds heavy with the coming storm, perhaps; but not light and fluffy ones. Those always irritated me." At her 'heh?' expression, he chuckled again, then offered a compromise: "Together, then." She nodded shortly, and they sat down together and began to talk. A few years later, he asked for 'her hand in marriage,' as he put it. She didn't get it, so he simplified. She agreed, and they have been together ever since.
Bio:
Kalara is the only place Sparkshift will willingly be soft for all to see. That's only 'cause he knows that if anyone gets close enough to hurt her, and can't convince her they're friendly (which is rare outside of their team; or even inside of it, for that matter), they will likely not survive the ensuing conflict. He knows she can handle herself. But if ever the rare fool actually does manage to land a blow, that pitiable bot will quickly see just how harsh this former Decepticon torture master can be.
