Background:
Spiderbane’s parents ditched him when he was born. A kindly old bot (a runaway Decepticon general) on the streets took him under his wing, so to speak. The old bot, whose name Spiderbane never disclosed, taught him how to live on the streets. Spiderbane met Jarience when they were both young. Both of them were living on the streets at the time, and decided to team up to work on a project together–staking out a thief’s hideout. Soon afterward, Spiderbane’s guardian disappeared. He thought for sure that his guardian had left him, just as his parents had. Jarience hadn’t realized until that day that Spiderbane was living on the streets, and quickly offered to have his friend live with him and his family. Spiderbane agreed, albeit quite reluctantly for fear that he’d lose his friend like he had everyone else, though he didn’t tell his friend that.
Fast-forward ten years. Spiderbane and Jarience have met Sahara and Crescent Black and together they have now formed a small team, with Spiderbane in charge. A few months into their fifth year as a team, a big battle was going on in their area between Autobots and Decepticons, and it was going badly for the Autobots. Spiderbane and Jarience were trying to hold a bottleneck area that the Decepticon reinforcements were coming through. Spiderbane saw out of the corner of his eye that an archer was taking aim at his best friend, and he wasn’t about to let that happen. But there was no way that he could get to the archer to stop him–-not without sentencing his friend to death at the hands of these fighters, who were far more skilled than Jarience was at the time. He knew his friend would hate him for what he was going to do, but he wasn’t about to lose another person he cared about. He fought his way over to him, and knocked him out just as the archer released the arrow. The arrow hit him in the shoulder instead, as he was pulling his friend out of the way of the stampede.
Spiderbane knew that he couldn’t carry his friend very far--he had never been the strongest in a group, and the arrow wound would only increase that particular annoyance. He also knew that there was no way his friend and he would both survive if they stayed together, so he left Jarience in a hidden cave and went to try to find some help, though he knew it was likely useless. This proved true, and after an hour he returned to where he’d left his friend. But by the time he got back, Jarience was gone. Spiderbane didn’t know where to look for him, so he decided to try something a bit on the radical side: he joined the Decepticons, as it more likely that his friend had been captured than that he had walked away on his own power. It took him nearly a year to locate him, but he finally found him–in a Decepticon labor camp. As Spiderbane had risen through the ranks rather quickly due to his street smarts, he managed to arrange it so that once a week, there would be a solid three hours where there was a known drunkard on guard, with plenty of liquor on hand. By the second week, Jarience had found this out and escaped, with a few others; then Spiderbane switched it back so that he’d not be caught himself, and slowly eased himself out of the spotlight. Within a year of freeing his friend, he left the Decepticons and went neutral.
Currently, Spiderbane is working as a mercenary, though he is very careful about what goes into the contracts he signs, and who he takes them from, in case there’s a price placed on his head as well. He hopes one day to rejoin his friend, and restore what they once had.
Bio:
Spiderbane learned to be crafty while living on the streets, and has put those skills to good use wherever he’s been, be it as Autobot or Decepticon, neutral, bounty hunter or assassin. He is particularly adept at hand-to-hand fighting and the use of small, pointy objects as weapons, such as daggers, throwing stars, keys, pencils, thumbtacks, or anything else with a point. He also learned how to repair himself and others while on the streets, though getting fixed by him is not exactly recommended, because for one he’s none too gentle about it, and for two his methods are quite...unorthodox, to put it mildly. He is fiercely loyal to those he calls 'friend,' and he expects the same from them. If you appear to be hurting one that he calls 'friend,' you’d better hope that Spiderbane is nowhere near–for since he knows how to heal, he also knows where to hit to hurt you the most with minimal effort on his part.
