I used to kind of look down on them for doing stuff like that, until I realized that people overseas can order figures from them that they can't otherwise get and it ends up being a relatively cheap option. Then it went from gouging to providing a service that should be compensated.

When I first saw the $299 listing on Amazon I was pretty ticked, but I learned something from a shop owner friend of mine. If it sells more power to them. It is a free market after all. if someone HAS to have it on release date and spends that much on it that is their choice. Yes I was lucky to catch it in stock, but if I didn't, I would wait. Amazon will get more, the scalper price will settle back down, and the cycle repeats.

My philosophy on the whole scalper thing: You have to pay to play. Its up to you on how much you want to spend. Wait for a good deal and take advantage. If you are impatient, you will be flushing $ down the drain. You don't want a scalper to win, don't buy it. I call it a form of silent protest. Rant over.....sorry.

Of course most of us realize life isn't fair and that a free market, in the long run, is beneficial to everyone even if you have to occasionally pay more for something on an individual level.

Indeed. With this Robotkingdom listing I can now get a Unibal.

Everyone needs to cool down and wait, Amazon will have more in stock and when they do, just be prepared. Don't go jumping the gun to get one ASAP from another retailer at a higher price. I'll admit, I have overpaid for a few TFs, but only when I was SURE there was no other option, but in this case, all you need to do is wait a little over a month. HOWEVER, Robotkingdom's price is reasonable, so if getting Unicron a few days early is worth the bit of extra cash, go ahead and grab it. In the end it's your money...

as the old saying goes, a fool and his money are soon parted, and any moron who shells out scalper prices when they can wait for a restock at retail (or even a clearance sale!), well i think i would deserve their money.

theres honor among collectors, and theres common business sense, and i dont think i have violated that honor.

The issue is not about fools buying from scalpers --it's about sympathizing with scalpers/condoning the practice. This is why you're being called a db -let's make that clear.

BBTS may have markups, but as Counterpunch stated, they go through a 3rd party to get their product sometimes and are not intentionally gouging. Brianstoys, however, are horrible. Jack up the prices on SW and TF -extortionists. Robotkingdom - I don't know how they get their product, but $90 isn't too bad, if you're impatient & have $ to burn. TFsource -- I don't even wanna touch the subject on them b/c of the hacking/'trying to sweep it under the rug' shady business. I've lost all respect for them and for all of those who helped them when they turned a blind eye to the situation.
