Derrick Wyatt Blog Update

A delightful tedium- The Transformers Animated Lead Designer and Art Director for Transformers the Animated series has updated his blog with more pictures from his desk featuring a bevy of Transformers toy goodness from vintage G1 to modern Universe.

Derrick also mentions some more ideas that he'd like to do, but hasn't had room to pack into the series yet.

"I don't think I intentionally set out to color code my Transformers, I just group the same characters together, and it sort of happens on it's own. I guess I thought everybody's collections looked like that!

I too would love to see Animated Sharkticons and Battle Beasts... Too many characters, not enough episodes!"

For those not familiar, Sharkticons were the executioners of the Quintessons' trials in the original Transformers movie, and Season 3 of the cartoon. They were the 'dumb muscle' so to speak, the enforcers for their weaker masters.

The Battle Beasts are a different thing entirely. Part of the Headmasters series in Japan (called Beastformers) and featured in the episode "Rebellion On Planet Beast", these armored humanoid creatures sided with both Autobots and Decepticons. In the U.S. they were sold without relation to Transformers whatsoever, unlike the Japanese counterparts.

You can add your two cents to 'A Delightful Tedium', and then c'mon back here for more Transformers goodness.

More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

in the 4th pic from the top on the right side, can any tell me what figure is between classics rodimus & g1 hot rod, below g1 rodimus prime and above the hot rod with matrix pvc? Is it even a hot rod/rodimus figure?

I think you are talking about the Choro-Q, but I think those were not as tall. I have a metallic Rodimus version, and now that I think about it, it is similar to that.

Looking at his collection again it looks really eye catching. Not sure if it is because of the colour co-ordination or what.

Also, TFA Swindle looks surprisingly good with Henkei Onslaught. I might have to mix up my collection a bit like that.
