iGear PP03 Storm & PP03 Current Robot Mode Images

Posted by El Duque May 8, 2011 at 11:40pm CDT 34,092 views
As a follow-up to the vehicle mode images of iGear's upcoming PP03 Storm and PP03 Current we showed you yesterday, here are images of the pair in robot mode. These images reveal that a comlink similar to the one featured on MP-01 has been added to his forearm. Keep in mind these images are of prototypes and the final products may vary. The images mirrored below were just posted by iGear to their facebook page.

PP03 Storm is available for pre-order at site sponsor TFsource.

Well, the robotmode is an improvement over Takara's design. No longer are the tailfins hanging from the hips, but on all their MP's (already ordered the Coneheads) they've put the tailfins on the legs, as they should be. I think it looks much better, giving more balance to the design. The legs on the Takara versions are too thin.

It's not a bad design, but I'm happy with my classics Sunstorm.

Wings attaching to the legs now is a H*U*G*E win.

Am I missing something here? How does this make a complete rainmakers set? We all know that Sunstorm is not the yellow rainmaker, right? Or are we just under the assumption that a yellow one and possibly Acid Storm are coming?

If they're making a blue one, I'd assume they either erroneously count Sunstorm as Mr. Yellow and Takara's Screamer as Acid Storm or will be making their own of both.

I tend to think Hasbro/Takara could sue iGear if they wanted to. That if part being the key here. There's other things they could do ... if they wanted to. But they haven't so far which makes me think it isn't worth their time.

I wish Hasbro/Takara would PLAN to release a seeker lineup.... sell them in consecutive waves over a year. Why not tell kids they belong as "a set"....and encourage collecting?

- Starscream
- Thundercracker AND Skywarp 2 pack
- Rainmaker 3 pack (store exclusive)

Having to wait years for Classics Thundercracker — or never in the case of Animated, Masterpiece — is frustrating to fans.

It also reminds me... when you have great characters/personalities, the fans will excuse repaints... even be upset when they aren't released.

Takara did release an MP Thundercracker, but Hasbro never did and probably never will. MP Skywarp was a shelfwarmer at Walmart and they had to be clearanced out...although that figure is now fetching MSRP now on auction sites.

Takara/Tomy is more interested in releasing a 5th version of Optimus (convoy) than they are New characters. I seriously doubt they will EVER release the coneheads, the rainmakers, or varients such as Skywarp in mid warp (nod to Rumble/frenzy's custom). That's why I love that igear is stepping up to the plate.

I have several of their PP01 Faith Leader (mini MP Prime), and he rocks. Fits right in with my classics figures.

Personally, I will probably buy every single one of the seekers that igear releases. I'm stoked about the blue seeker rainmaker, the coneheads, and especially sunstorm.

Thank you iGear for giving fans what they want.

Yeah, I actually had Hasbro and USA in my sentence but took it out to keep it from being too long a rant. Thanks for clarifying for the thread.

AND I agree, I'm glad SOMEBODY is doing the coneheads. Ordered them, as well as sunstorm.

They literally have hundreds of characters to choose from. Why is it always the same handful of characters every year?

These do look very nice.

I hope this helps Hasbro and Takara wake up to the realities of what fans want.

Neurie wrote:Under international copyright law as long as there are 21 differences(even down to a 1mm change) then the product is not considered a knock off and does not breach IP laws. Hence Hasbro/Takara can do nothing to stop I Gear releasing these.

People that want them will get them those who dont wont. No point complianing as they are technically perfectly legal, unlike the reverse engineered Gen 1 reissues byt third party companies(but it does make you think if some tiny little china company can make an almost perfect reproduction of the Gen 1 Dino bots, how comes Takara/Hasbro say it would be too expensive).

Anyway, these look really nice, sadly I wont be buying them as I have run out space totally now.

I highly doubt these would be considered "legal", but they're manufactured in a land where those laws don't apply so it's a moot point.

what they need to do is actually produce at least a couple of seekers for a review and criticism showing us what amounts to 6 or 7 new seeker repaints does no good if i cant be assured of their quality ecpecially at 130 a piece.
