Are Movie Masterpiece Optimus Prime and Bumblebee even available for pre-order anywhere yet? TFSource and BBTS have nothing listed for these. That's weird.

They're Toys R Us exclusives, probably wont show up there until after SDCC in the US, that's just how TRU likes to do MPs. Of course I'm sure TFS and BBTS will get them at some point, but they won't be the cheapest place.

Do the masterpiece figures that are TRU exclusives usually pop up on Toysrus.com? Cause I looked recently and no result so I assumed not (although I realize he hasn't been released yet), but I don't want to go to one far away if necessary.

Not really, they are worldwide TRU exclusives.

Its not a guarantee. Unless I am mistaken, Bumblebee showed up online but Starsceam did not.

Outside of Japan, it's regular retail there.

If Starscream didn't show up on TRU.com I wouldn't own one. ;)

The arms are a bit thin but apart from that, this looks quite good.

RobotKingdom has Bee. These can probably still be found at places like that if you don't trust stumbling on it in store.

Thanks to the げんもん Photo Vault Facebook page, we have a pair of news for you today. The first bit is that the new Movie Masterpiece Optimus Prime has been found in Singapore, and the second bit is a pictorial review of the new masterpiece figure. The sighting is backed up by Planet Iacon, where a display with the figure was found at the Waterway Toys R Us, with the "coming soon" tag that clearly meant that it is right upon us!

With this sighting in mind, we turn our attention to the review. You can find the write-up first, followed by lots of pictures of the bot mode, transformation, and alt mode. Also pictured are some comparisons between MPM-04 with the MPM-03 Bumblebee and Revenge of the Fallen Leader Prime. As a final note, he has lots of die cast.

Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

I will start by saying this - stunning. Simply stunning. He has that premium feel to him and he is much more articulated than the ROFT Leader class mold.
First things first - I might have fudge up the transformation to truck mode as some parts are difficult to tab in. But I blame user error and also the instructions was very small.
The robot mode is glorious and it replicates the CGI to the best of its ability. Everywhere is nice and tight. and he does not have the big backpack that plagued the ROFT mold and its subsequent retools.
The mask changing gimmick carried itself from the AOE AD-31 Armored Knight Optimus Prime. It is executed well here. Paint apps are spot on EXCEPT for the blue arch on his feet. The box seem to show the arches painted blue on his feet but seemingly absent here in the actual product. The flames are pin striped and there are no bleeding and smudges. Great work there.
Now here comes the part where everyone is wondering - where are the die-cast parts? The abs, the feet, the knees, headlights, inner parts of the legs. Yes, he has some heft to him.
He comes with his 2 blades and blaster. There is no where to stash or keep these weapons in robot mode and in truck mode, it haphazardly plugs at the back of the truck. Other than that, it is well made and has tons of detail on it.
As for the transformation, the upper body is totally different from the ROFT mold, but the waist down is familiar territory, mimicking the ROFT leader class transformation. And for those who are wondering, nope, you can't plug Jetfire or any of the 3rd party add ons. The design is evidently different to allow any integration of the older toys.
Would I recommend it? Hell yeah. The parts count are definitely higher and he feels solid all round. Definitely a keeper if you are into the Movie Masterpiece series.

Awesome, just awesome. One thing tho, those front headlights look like they should be able to fold back, no? If not its no biggie, this is still going to dethrone my buster prime for sure it just really look like they should fold back flush but in every pick they are sticking way out. Can anyone confirm that they are fixed stuck out like that or on a hinge.

Looks like a hinge to me. In fact, you can see them flexed back in a few photos and then out flush for whatever reason in others 8-}

Also I still can't make out where they hide the steps in robot mode, seem like they magically hide away in the back of his calf???? I know some people gripe about long complex transformations but I love em. I go back a forth trying to find what order is the most efficient. Looks like I'm gonna have a blast with this thing.

Yeah I'm not sure where they go either, but "Step Magic" may be the new trend!

I'm sure it'll fit together better and more consistently than Apollyon, and that's all I really ask of any of my Transformers.
