20 episodes are being planned for the service.
Have a look at the full press release below:
TRANSFORMERS: BOTBOTS ASSEMBLE IN AN ALL-NEW ANIMATED SERIES AT NETFLIX
● Netflix and Entertainment One (eOne), Hasbro’s entertainment studio, announce Transformers: BotBots, a new 20-episode animated comedy series following the mischievous little Transformers robots, otherwise known as BotBots.
● Kevin Burke and Chris “Doc” Wyatt (Spider-Man, Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy, Stretch Armstrong & the Flex Fighters) will serve as executive producers and showrunners.
● Logline: BotBots are Transformers robots that disguise themselves as everyday mall objects. By day, these BotBots hide quietly on store shelves but at night, they jump into adventure until a group of BotBots called ‘The Lost Bots’ run into the mall security guard and put all the bots in danger. Will these misfits be able to overcome their differences, defeat the security guard and gain acceptance in the eyes of the other bots?
● Olivier Dumont, eOne’s President of Family Brands: “We are delighted to partner with Netflix to bring an all-new Transformers story to life and explore a whole new universe with BotBots. Transformers storytelling has expanded into so many new avenues and we can’t wait to surprise both existing fans and new fans coming to the franchise for the first time with these fun bots who are definitely more than meets the eye!"
● The series takes inspiration from Hasbro’s popular Transformers: BotBots toy line, released in late 2018. BotBots are 1-inch collectible characters that can change from an ordinary object into a little robot in just 3-5 easy steps.
● The series joins Netflix’s growing slate of original animated programming featuring characters kids know and love like My Little Pony from Hasbro, as well as The Cuphead Show!, Sonic the Hedgehog, Angry Birds, and characters from the library of titles from Roald Dahl. They complement Netflix’s brand new cast of characters from upcoming preschool series Ridley Jones; Ada Twist, Scientist; Karma’s World, kids series Kid Cosmic, Arlo the Alligator Boy, Centaurworld and event series Maya and the Three.

Now if the toys were only easily available anymore. They all but vanished when wave 5 was coming out and it never really made it out in the US completely.
I do wonder if Hasbro pulled back last year to sort of re-launch them with the Netflix series.

I imagine that part of the budget that Rooster Teeth used was from the Netflix exclusivity.

TRANSFORMERS: BOTBOTS is an animated series, full of high energy humor that will delight kids, transporting the next generation of viewers into a brand new world of mischievous little ‘bots. When a mall is hit with Energon, everyday objects from the food court, the hardware store and other locations spring to life and convert into tiny Transformers robots called BotBots.
This series offers a little something for everyone as BotBots come in a wide and unique range of hysterical characters, who are the epitome of… MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE. They formed squads based on the store they came from, but not every ‘bot was in their correct store when they came to life. By day, these BotBots hide quietly on mall store shelves but at night, they jump headfirst into adventure until a misfit group of BotBots called ‘The Lost Bots’ run into the mall security guard and put all the ‘bots in danger. Will these zany ‘bots be able to overcome their differences, defeat the security guard and gain acceptance with the other ‘bots? The entire family will enjoy this hilarious new series that is silly, wacky, and fun!
Executive produced by Kevin Burke and Chris “Doc” Wyatt (Spider-Man, Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy, Stretch Armstrong & the Flex Fighters) they also serve as showrunners on the series.

It's a different talent pool of Toronto voice actors and a different voice director. A different team of different people altogether. Expect it to be a voice cast of people who have never been in a Transformers cartoon before, as Transformers has never been voiced in Toronto before.Stormshot_Prime wrote:This seems like the kind of show to seem cheesy at-a-glance, but is a little weightier than the trailer implies Also, why is the voice acting in this better than all of the WFC cartoons combined? Welp, guess TFWiki's gonna add another entry to the "Ruined FOREVER" page.
Honestly, though, Transformers is an ecletic enough brand that can encompass different genres and approaches, including lighter ones, as previous preschool shows like Go-Bots and especially Rescue Bots demonstrated. And this show already has a massive advantage over TTG or "Thundercats Ho!": they're using new characters already designed to be comedic and silly instead of poorly adapting more serious pre-established characters to a comedy setting.
Now all that's left to see is if it'll be good random comedy or TTG-level of random comedy. Given the trailer so far, it can go either way, but I'm hopeful.

It's not the fact that it's "comedy" it's the fact that ANYTHING can be a "Transformer", and that even if that is "accepted", they crossed the line by making them made out of the same materials as their alt modes. This means the burger bot is literally made out of edible materials. It would have been funnier if they were all "metal" still, as if the humans tried to eat them, they would break their teeth, etc. Making them "proper" Transformers in this way would have been great. Heck, even Beast Wars/Machines TFs weren't actually organic, but rather a combination of both organic and synthetic components, usually mixed at a molecular level, to various degrees, depending on the show.
I'm not asking for a detailed, serious explanation of that in the show, but there should be some sort of visual/plot explanation in the first ep that gets it out of the way quickly for us to suspend disbelief and enjoy the show. The creators must know TF fans might be watching.
As for the other kiddie TF shows, I loved them. However, they still had some semblance of plot and didn't fart all over established TF lore, even at the most nonsensical of times.

Nah, two naysayers out of countless fans isn't enough. Besides, that page hasn't had any additions to its list in seven years.MaximalNui wrote:Welp, guess TFWiki's gonna add another entry to the "Ruined FOREVER" page.
You're about four years and 345 figures (plus 69 yet to be released) too late to be now complaining about the BotBots' core design aesthetic.primalxconvoy wrote:It's not the fact that it's "comedy" it's the fact that ANYTHING can be a "Transformer", and that even if that is "accepted", they crossed the line by making them made out of the same materials as their alt modes.

Just a simple suggestion, but maybe step back, take a look in the mirror, and completely re-asses your life. From obsessing over YouTubers to being butt-hurt over a cartoon ... you really do come across a whiny spoilt man-baby.
And hey, if that's your thing you're going for, kudos to you.
But seriously, it's a cartoon. Get over it.

Transformers Botbots is set to follow the wacky escapades of our favorite little Transformers that literally turn into anything and everything that might be found in a mall after an Energon cloud strikes and brings them to life. In this new clip, we see Burgertron finding himself in the lost and found, where he has found and is introducing himself to the Lost bots, a group of Botbots who all ended up in the lost and found and have no idea that the outside world exists. Burgertron gives us a nice bit of exposition for the series in the clip.
Check it out below, and watch for Botbots to drop on March 25 on Netflix!
