Maybe being completely reassembled has... side effects...
I'd really like a Detritus (name spelling?) out of this mold. Has a snowball's chance of happening, but hey, non-standard Junkion, still a reasonable alt mode for a Junkion.

But maybe it is Ultra Magnus - you know from that alternate ending to the original Transformers Movie where Magnus is definitely and completely killed by Galvatron, and rather than reassemble him in a nonsensical sleight of hand, the Junkions just piece-meal his body back into a macabre suit of powered armor for Wreck-Gar to wear.
Hey, Minimus Ambus sort of looks like Wreck-Gar, doesn't he...

Oh my gosh what if Dominus Ambus **is** Wreck-Gar, and now because of the time-stream change, instead of being a robot that talks like a TV, he's a TV that talks like a robot!!!

Road and Load are spelt and pronounced the same way in Japanese (no "L" consonant exists in their language)

I get that. I just figured it had already been established as "Roadblock" without further confusion.prjkt wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Where'd that spelling come from?Bumblevivisector wrote:Load Block

Swoop reminds me vaguely of Skyjack with the red, black, and gold bits as well as the gold face. Universe Skyfall also replaced the original figure's yellow with gold.

You mean he's based on G1 Wildrider?

Yes and no. While it's true Generations Dead End makes a better Wildrider, Knock Out is definitely based on that one specific figure and not the G1 figure.

Or it's just they colored Knock Out's altmode pieces silver while keeping the rest of him in his normal red colors. Others have said he looks like Bluestreak or Crosscut.Emerje wrote:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Emerje wrote:Knock Out has to be based on Generations Dead End, especially the gray car with red bot-parts and the red, black, and yellow on his chest and the color and shape of his "crotch plate" and upper legs. It is very unlikely that Takara would homage a GDO figure.

Why is that any more unlikely than all of the obscure American comic references they've been making? Masterpiece Marvel Grimlock? G2 comic Sideswipe? Heck, Roadblock is pretty obscure in himself. How about those four tapes that came with the most recent Soundblaster and Broadcast reissues, it doesn't get any more obscure than those, only Wingthing previously had a figure (also not released in Japan)! I don't think there's such a thing as "unlikely" any more. Only Bluestreak I can see in him is being a silver/gray car with a black stripe which would be needed to imitate the black on the Dead End figure's chest. Not to mention this is a Decepticon.
I think people need a visual:
It's not a 100% perfect match, but it's about as close as the other TAV repaints, maybe even closer.

Because the GDO figures themselves were all homage toys with no original designs to call their own, and weren't American toys anyway.Emerje wrote:Sabrblade wrote:It is very unlikely that Takara would homage a GDO figure.

If they were really trying to homage that Chinese toy, woudn't it stand to reason that Takara would not have held back from going all the way with it? Like, by giving Bloody Knock Out a gray helmet and red face instead of sticking truer to the proper deco of Knock Out's head? Why would they leave such an important aspect unchecked if they were wanting to go full force with the homage? It just isn't like Takara to shortchange these kinds of homages.

You can put as much lines as you want, he still looks like Crosscut to me, which makes perfect sence since that original Diaclone toy was alway's Japan's and never Hasbro's. In a fun mix, they dont seem to be getting the new Hasbro Crosscut, but instead are using that specific deco as japan exclusive for the release of the knockout mold. All I mean is that every reason has as much substance not one more than the next unless the designer comes out and states his reasons.

Me too! The Steeljaw repaint has me VERY intrigued. I might get Takara's Steeljaw as well, especially if they make the plastic color more grayish.

Your right, Steel Joe does look a bit greyer

But for the life of me aside from the eyes, I cannot find much difference between the grimlocks.

THe only reason why I am looking more closely at takara this time is for one reason: The preorder price is cheaper than the retail canadian price of , wait for it, 19.99$

Yeah, Phaser has no Blast Master in Japan, and the opposite is true for the US. Japan did get the Payload mold in the form of Micron Astrotrain though.

You know, I never understood why they called it astrotrain. I get that one of Astrotrain's modes is a shuttle, but come on. The word "train" is a big part of his name, and speaking of Big, Astrotrain is usually a big guy. I just found it wasn't the best character to reference.

Do you know any other famous G1 shuttle Transformers?

Still, leaving out the Microns/Micromasters is a bit of a letdown, but if you equate the individual Legends Class releases with the current Combiner Wars ones, it makes sense.

Similarily, the G1 episode "Triple Takeover" had Astrotrain create a small team of trains called the "Astroforce".william-james88 wrote:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Though these are just placholders of the Hasbro toys (as mentioned in the news post), it's interesting to see that Adams apparently doesn't come with Payload/Blast Master, even despite Takara turning Swerve's Flanker/Sky High into Blast Master's partner Phaser. And, in a case similar to the Micron Astrotrain, the TCC had previously released a remold of Armada Jetfire as Astrotrain.

She is a Go-Bot

A long-serving Guardian, Spay-C was present during the first Renegade revolt, the capture of the Gobotron Fortress and the planet's take-over by Cy-Kill and the Master Renegade.
She was later appointed administrator of Gobotron's Spa Moon, and would be part of the escort for the captured Fitor (making an unwilling journey to Earth when under Cy-Kill's control soon after).

Yah it's odd that we've had so few space shuttle Transformers. But not as odd as the complete absence of a bus Transformer or a garbage truck Transformer (prior to TFA Wreck-Gar). Rescue Bots should come out with a School Bus Transformer and there should totally be a commuter bus Transformer of some sorts.
