New Transformers and Casio Collaboration with Transformers G-Shock Watch Commercial

Posted by Bronzewolf Nov 29, 2017 at 2:42am CST 21,822 views
Coming from Tokyo Comic Con, we have a brand new brand partnership to report on! Casio posted a 30 second spot on the YouTube channel for their G-Shock Watches, and it features a G-Steel watch that transforms into Optimus Prime to save the earth from some oncoming meteors! According to a blog post, this promotion is to celebrate the G-Shock watch's 35th anniversary. It’s unknown at this time if this will actually lead to Casio Producing a special edition watch (Or Takara producing a special edition toy) based on the commercial, but we can only hope! Check out the ad below, and then discuss it in our Energon Pub forums!

Thank you for the heads up on this! XD I really hope it does turn out to be a transforming watch.

If it's a successful promotion, what are your thoughts on the probability of this becoming a staple line with other characters in the future?

Ya it's working now but having now see the video we're probably not getting a toy :-( :-(

But if it's a watch that transforms into a toy, wouldn't it be a toy in disguise? ;)

A little under a year ago, Casio and Transformers collaborated together for an advertisement for the 35th anniversary. Well for Transformers' 35th anniversary, Casio and Transformers pull out their newest product, the G- Shock x Transformers DW-6900TF-Set Master Optimus Prime Resonant Mode. It appears to be an Optimus Prime with a hollowed chest that can be filled in with the similarly colored, included watch. The toy can turn into its "Pedestal Prime Mode," a stand where you can also display the included watch. The toy also includes two blasters that can be held in robot mode, as well as a Matrix of Leadership to replace the watch in robot mode.

Sadly, there is no info on the price or release date of this product.

These pictures come from Yu's Hobby Land on Facebook, which was brought up to us thanks to Seibertronian Nathaniel Prime.

So thoughts on this strange new product for Transformers' 35th anniversary. Let us know in the Pub forums below!

I know that Optimus is one of the go-to characters when it comes to consumer product crossovers, but man, MAN do I wish they had gone with Vector Prime for this. Sure, he's a somewhat obscure character, but it would have fit his theme perfectly.

I couldn't agree more. Vector prime would've been a great choice for this

I already own the previous G-Shock X Transformer collaboration Convoy watch, but damn, how much damage is this going to do to my wallet? But I collect G-Shocks so... NEED :BOT:

This looks pretty cool to me. Vector Prime may have been a more logical character but everyone knows Optimus Prime sells better. You're welcome for the help btw. ;)

The watch in the video was way better than this digital one here.

Depending on the price I really want this, also wanting the transforming cheap watches too if only for nostalgia.

Echoing the Vector Prime sentiment.

watch, as he turns form a robot into... an incomprehensible mess! but seriously, that's still a pretty cool robot design, even if he's a bit chunkier than what we're used to.

Bot mode looks great! Love the concept. I'd love to see a repaint in Heinrad colors. In fact this almost looks like him already in bot mode but with a total reboot. If i buy this its Heinrad and not Optimu on my shelf.

Same. Vector was even retroactively given a watch mode from one of those old Chronoform bots! If I had the money to burn, I'd get one of these and paint it up.

Hot on the heels of the Official reveal, and thanks to a heads up from fellow Seibertron user, Emerje, we now have more stock photos and a msrp price for G-Shock x Transformers DW-6900TF-Set Master Optimus Prime Resonant Mode! The information and pictures come couresty of Takara Tomy Mall's website. The msrp for this figure is ¥31,320 which makes him the second most expensive transforming Transformers figure behind the 2013 release of Encore Fortress Maximus.
