Fellow Seibertronian JTPrime17 found listings for some upcoming figures which clarifies previous news we got. Remember that Bat crossover? Well the new listing for that product has it as a Universal Dracula collaborative. And we even know the name, Draculus. This is supposedly a redeco/retool of Titans Return Mindwipe. We also have more info on a Prime Optimus Prime listing that had surfaced. While we all thought that referred to Optimus Prime from the Prime show, it turns out it's a crossover with the Amazon brand so we are getting an Amazon Prime Optimus Prime. Afterall, many have forgotten what Prime day is all about and who's death we commemorate that day, so hopefully this toy will help.

We never got a Count Dooku in the previous Star Wars Crossovers.

I would think Mindwipe retool would be a slam-dunk, but we will see
Frankenstein(1931)-Autobot X
The Mummy (1932) ?
The Invisible Man (1933) -Mirage

The Wolf Man (1941)-Weirdwolf or Fangry
Phantom of the Opera (1943) ?
Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) Submarauder?

??
I could be wrong, but I think the Top Gun Toy was the only one that wasn't an extensive retool...
Ectotron- CW Hotspot
Gigawatt- Siege Sideswipe
X-Spanse- SS Jetfire

AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Might be thinking too literal on the name, but it led me to immediately think of Cyclonus? He kind of has the right stature in Bot Mode. But as we already know, none of these crossover figures have been retools. So I'll be curious to see where they go with this one. A big fan of Universal Monsters, so this is the first crossover since Terminator (Although I am an X-Men fan, I was never looking forward to X-Spanse) that I'm actually curious about.
They've been 50% retools / engineering sharing and 50% new molds.
Maverick was a new mold.
X-Men was a new mold
GhostBusaters was a retool, or engineering re-use if you will
BTTF was again engineering retool.
How extensive Mindwipe will be retooled or what part of its engineering will be used is the question.

Ironically, Maverick is the only one I've seen in person. So I just assumed they were all the same. Although I did think Gigawatt might have been a Datsun or Battlecharger mold.

Siege Sideswipe funnily enough

Gigawatt was a Sideswipe retool.
Ecto 1 was a massive reengineering of CW Onslaught.
Maverick and X-Panse were new molds.

I disagree. Only thing they share is the blackbird alt mode. And its even a different blackbird design.
There's nothing from SS Jetfire there at all.
If it was that extensive a retool it might as well be a new mold.

TF Wiki wrote:The fifth figure in the Collaborative line, Ultimate X-Spanse transforms into a licensed Lockheed Martin SR-71 Blackbird based on the X-Jet. X-Spanse reuses multiple vehicle mode parts from Studio Series Leader Class Jetfire. His design and deco is inspired by the X-Men costumes from the 1992 animated series, even featuring Rob Liefeld-esque pouches and a flip-up visor based on that of Cyclops. X-Spanse boasts an impressive range of articulation in robot mode, including a ball-jointed inner-shoulder, a double-ratcheted knee bend, and a slight ab crunch with additional side-to-side.

Surely it would have been less effort to just make him brand new, like Maverick?

The only thing there that looks somewhat similar are the panels on their backs. Its very much a completely new mold, with new engineering. Minus a couple of shared panels.

Like Pepsi Prime, and Ghost busters Prime, that's likely what its going to be. An amazon labeled Earthrised Prime. Doubt't they'd go to the trouble of repainitng the MP for this.
Also, it will probably come with Amazon packages you can stuff in the trailer.

Those shared panels are all you need to stop it from being a completely new mold. Also, not all the engineering is new, the top half used the same transformation design from Jetfire. It's based on that mold and expanded on, it wasn't made designed from scratch.
It's a really elaborate retool, just like all of these toys are (with the top gun one being totally new).

It's way more elaborate than the other 2 retools if that is the case. I still don't see anything from SS Jetfire outside of the back panels.
Gigawatt is basically sideswipe with a different car shell. And as extensive as Ectotron is, you can still see Onslaught there.
Even Side by side, its difficult to see any resemblance between X-Panse and SS Jetfire.
Where do we draw the line between retool and new mold if 95% of the figure is different.

So, Ship of Theseus crossover is next? We have to be getting close to the 3000 year anniversary of the ship itself.

quite like that idea. I mean the last robot dracula in the eighties turned into an egg, so a coffin is def a better alt mode.
I can see it just being coronation starscream repaint to get multiple uses out of the cape mwahaha

Rumour-mill said KITT was one of the first crossover they tried but it fell through.
It probably wouldn't happen because no one under 30 (estimate since I don't know when it stopped airing) ever saw Knightrider. I only know about KITT through references on other shoes.
I'd argue that KITT is less prominent than the Dukes of Hazzard car but that's not happening for entirely different reasons.

Looks like it might be an extensive retool of the ER Datsun mold, going by the feet and lower body. Plus the arms and the doors on the back in robot mode. Just a guess.o.supreme wrote:Tyrannousaur is the obvious BW Megatron retool. What is the vehicle based on? Or is it a new mold?
I also agree that X-Panse is not a retool of SS Jetfire, even if they share the alt mode.

It's a new mold though the transformation design might be revisited for an upcoming bot.
