I've been given some serious thought to selling off Herc. Now I'm thinking about actually doing it...

at least wait til they're both in-hand. only makes sense. not like Hercules is likely to lose any value any time soon.

after I put aside some dough to pay for him. If Herc has taught me anything it's that there's no rush.

That's a good question since I have 2 of the yellow and I get the second set in on wensday but I don't see anything special

I dont think anybody here is "too stupid" as you chose to put it.
This was merely a discussion about different renditions of Devastator on what many here interpret to be a Devastator forum.
If a non-board member used the word "stupid" to describe a group of people on here, it would be an instant warning for trolling. I have no problems with you. But calling us "too stupid" because we went off topic is a bit inappropiate, you think ???

Edit: I still have no idea why the crane is displayed that way on the green Giant's display image. Maybe the person taking the pictures wanted to give a nod to the movies... *shudder*

It wasn't for going off topic, I too often go off topic.
No it wasn't inappropriate, it was justified since the discussion wasn't "Well I like Hercules because bla bla bla." Or "I like Giant better because."
No it was just like all the previous times "Hercules sucks and you suck you stupid rich motherf**ker!" And "Giant sucks and you suck for liking it you dumb hobo!"
And
"My opinion is more valid than yours, because, ... f**k you that's why!"
And it would have gotten worse, just like all the previous times people decided to bring up one in a thread about the other. So yes, the word I used was harsh and a little much, but accurate keeping in mind the stupid drama we've all gone through, especially considering that the only way to stop it previously was to lock the threads.

So you could end up with one half of your Gestalt collection being "FP size" and one half of your collection being "Herc Sized". The only way to stay with one or the other is to choose now and stick to it...unfortunately this leaves the unfortunate possiblity of missing out on a few important pieces of your collection, or focing yourself to forego a new figure you would otherwise want to get.
FOr instance, if you want to go with the current "FP size" collection, so you skip Herc and get Giant instead...and then six months from now someone puts out a Herc size Bruty that you just start to drool over. Or, you want to stick with the Herc-size sets...and alot of the 3rd party companies stay on the trend of FP-size sets...leaving you with a gigantic Devy that fits in with none of your other Gestalts scale-wise.
Oh, the drama...

Vicalliose wrote:Huh... Just not digging it as much in green, especially with the stripes being red and white instead of black. While I agree it makes sense to prefer Devastator in green, this set to me just looks better in yellow and black. Plus I grew up with re-runs of G2 on tape, so I suppose it should also mean something to me for that reason.

Good catch on the stripes. I wonder why they went with Red/White/Black.
I am still trying to figure out how they did that with the crane. I wasn't aware the crane is jointed and able to bend 90 degrees. I was asumming it was Photoshopped in.

I cannot actually picture that happening. I doubt anyone would have the pockets or the shelf space for such a thing. At least I can admire TFC's bravery, as I do not think any other 3rd party company would be willing to do something so risky. Devastator is just kind of special though, the definitive combining transformer, perhaps the only combiner worth the risk. A number of people have had to sell off some of their Transformers collection to get it, I'm not sure how many would be willing to do so twice.DJrasmo wrote:FOr instance, if you want to go with the current "FP size" collection, so you skip Herc and get Giant instead...and then six months from now someone puts out a Herc size Bruty that you just start to drool over.
I could be wrong... usually am. But you know what?

DJrasmo wrote:that there are already tentative plans for more combiners from FP and other 3rd parties that will presumably be on scale with Herc.
The theoretical FP Menasor would be in scale with the Superion and Bruticus as will be the Maketoys Computron. The only company (so fair as we know) making anything on Hercs scale is TFC themselves.

I get the Swindle and be done with it.

Ya I'm gonna post some pics and do a video for you tube. I really like my herc but the more I fiddle with these guys the more I like them but I still haven't seen a clear pic of giants head yet I hope it's nice

The arm kibble (AKA the entire vehicle) really irks me; that shoulder girth just kills the Devy look, as does the lack of head (or at least the lack of its visibility).
If BBTS has another 25% off sale on 3rd Party toys, I think I can justify it. It's how I justified FP Flameblast and Warcry
Kudos to all of you who have already made the plunge ; he should be super fun

This is going to sell out. It's not going to just sit around like two neutered repaint homages to Micromasters did. This is Devastator and even the G2 yellow one isn't going to be available long.
I still have to pay for the second set but the first in in my POL at BBTS. I'm actually forgoing all of the Prime toys and most of this years Botcon set just to justify how much these things cost but they're so worth it! Seriously, I'm only getting Cyberverse Ultra Magnus until the FOC figures come out.

Everyone please note(as I don't want to reignite the argument), that I am NOT saying one set is intrinsically better than the others, just that I feel Giant will fit how I want MY collection to look, which should be all that's important if making a choice between the two.

I've preordered Giant and will probably pick up Hercules if it ever shows up at something of a discount. But I simply love the fact that I have two to choose from and neither of them is this:
