Rapido! Rapido! We're not talking about the speed of yours truly, or the speed of our news. We're referring to an exclusive figure from the big show itself - Botcon. Earlier in the week, robust news administrator Mkall reported that Botcon would have a Generation Two theme. All the cards are pointing in that direction, as Transformers insider and Energon Pub member s250 has updated his twitter with this message:

I thought those particular Autobots were latter UK\JAP G1, as opposed to G2? Regardless, I loved those figs when I was a kid.

Hmmm, while I am glad they took the high road and are releasing some of the original figures from G2, I am not the worlds biggest fan of the Prowl/Streak/Smokescreen mold. I still plan on going to Botcon, we will have to see how long I keep this figure!

I hope they use the European verison of Rapido with the pink windows as the model (extra bright G2 colors!), and the Silversteak mold variant without the light bar.
Will they use the G2 symbols? Or is hasbro stuck on G1 symbols to the exclusion of everything else?

I was thinking the same thing myself. I'm hoping for G2 symbols in this case. I wonder what is going to classify them as G2 (fiction-wise).
I kinda figured that if they were going to do G2, that we'd get the obscure characters and not repaints like Black Sideswipe. I'm kinda hoping against hope for a G2 Ramjet color deco though.
Also just read the TFwiki for Rapido...hmmm, has the highest possible rank in the autobot army...interesting. Still hoping for Pyro from Cyb Optimus Prime!

It was released in England both without the G2 banner and later as part of the G2 line.
Me? I'm still holding my breath for some Japanese series characters to be included like, oh I don't know... METALHAWK!!!!
Or at least to be sure they're not making them os I can make my own!

Although early packages of Rapido didn't mention "Generation 2" on them, all version fo Rapido had the G2 Autobot logo on them.
Of course if the fiction is set during G1, but they have G2 characters in it, it would make sense for them to have G1 symbols on them. If Fub Publications recent use of Deluge and Jetstorm in The Coming Storm is any indication, they will have G1 symbols.

I can see why this character would be perfect for this mold. The alt modes and robot modes are very similar. But I prefer it when BotCon toys are of more recognisable characters. Still, it's a step up from Flak and Landshark.
And for the record, I like the Prowl mold. It's just as good as the Sunstreaker mold. The only problem I have with it is the door wings can get in the way. Why do people not like this mold?

I can't believe how excited I am about a G2 BotCon set. This might match or top the 2007 Seekers set for me personally. I hope they do some of the obvious ones.

I need to get this set. I'm willing to bet it won't all be G2 either. I'm thinking they are also going to mix in late G1 figures too as a G1.5, which is fine by me too.
I'm still hoping for Energon Bulkhead as G2 Powerdive. It's a PERFECT fit for a G2 set, and the mold has yet to be used...

I've been thinking that they were going to do a G2 set eventually because they've been long hinting at it g past BotCons. My personal hope is that they mix it up between G2 exclusive characters and G1 spillover characters.
The problem with the G1 spillover characters is that a LOT of them made appearances during Shattered Glass (Grimlock, Sideswipe, Jazz)
Another cool idea would be a Legends 3-pack of chromed up Bumblebee, Cliffjumper and Beachcomber.
Of course, the Purple Ramjet has to be at the top of my wishlist.
