The official website for the Transformers/Neon Genesis Evangelion crossover is now live. Nothing new at the moment, just the previously seen artwork of MP-10 Optimus Prime in EVA-01's color scheme and brief opening story. However, there are buttons for "products" and "story", though neither are currently active.

The Angels are invading. Breaking a long silence, the mysterious life-forms known as the Angels suddenly appear. The weapons the UN forces gather together in retaliation can't even scratch them. In the end, they turn to the secret agency, NERV, to manage the anti-Angel strategy.

With Neo-Tokyo 3 in their sights, the Angels slowly advance upon the city...but suddenly a spaceship comes hurtling down from the sky above the Angels: the Sky Lynx! Out of the ship emerges warriors of the far-off planet Cybertron. They've come to investigate after noticing an unusual energy reading.

"We can't let a disaster like the Second Impact occur on this planet."
"What?! What are these monsters?!"

The shocked Cybertron convoy sets its sights on an enemy much bigger than themselves.

It looks like the story text on the website is different from the story text we saw in the magazine. I can't quite make out what it says, though, and Google Translate just gives it's usual mess of a translation.

Okay I'm REALLY excited! the actual Story seems to make no real sense, but as a huge fan of both franchises, I am really geeked about a Crossover! just so long as there's no [ :michaelbay:

From concept to reality! The Transformers/Neon Genesis Evangelion Crossover redeco of MP-10 Optimus Prime is happening, and have our first images of the actual toy courtesy of hobby magazine scans from the TAGHobby page. As you can see in the images mirrored below MP-10 dons the EVA unit 01 purple and green color scheme and comes complete with trailer and repainted Spike mini-figure.

Doesn't look like Shinji to me... I don't get the new deco on Spike. It seems to make no sense. You'd think Shinji would be an easy recolor. Spike even already has an open shirt. Give him black hair, color the shirt white, make his pants dark. Maybe if they want to go the extra mile, a splash of dark color above the open collar to simulate the undershirt Shinji wears.

But this thing? What is it? Doesn't look like Shinji. Doesn't look like a NERV uniform, so it isn't a random NERV mook. It is like someone took a Spike, randomly painted it up, and said, "Hey, I think this looks cool! Any new MP-10 decos coming up we can throw this in?"

I know nothing about the Evangelion stuff, so I have to confess a moment of ignorance and admit that Purple Optimus Prime is forever ingrained as SG... Sorry guys.

Cool deco though, and I love Army Jeep Roller.

looks kind of cool and ugly at the same time. ill buy it just because I have every version of the mold so far. im very happy that they are doing different things than just a straight up repaint...

I am a big fan of Evangelion but this redeco has no place in my heart nor collection. A remold of the Prime's head and painting Spike to look like Shinji should have been the bare minimum.

Adding Evangelion weapons would have been good, along with stickers to add inside Prime's trailer to make it look more like NERV.

And giving Prime a tether that attached to the trailer would have enhanced the figure.

they've got a lot of nerv making ridiculous repaints like this. Though I wouldn't mind them making nice with Bandai just long enough to give us a MSG recolor of prime I can cart around an MG gundam in...

It is a random NERV guy; it's just one of the technicians that put the railgun together or maintain the Evas. It's an approximation of the jackets worn by that division.

I really couldn't even charitably call this Spike repaint an approximation of either of those. Or was there some other NERV uniform I was not remembering?

(And anyway, as I previously pointed out, the clothing on the sculpt, repainted, could have easily been made into Shinji's normal clothing... which would make sense for a figure that pilots this Prime! Really a dropped ball...)

You're implying correlation between the two. It is obscure and it is pointless, but the former is not the cause of the later.

I quite agree that often the obscure can be an enjoyable thing. This is, alas, not one of these times.

I really want to like this, but the colour scheme actually doesn't do wonders on that mold, for some reason. The head looks odd with the lighter external parts, and there seems to be confusion as to whether the windshield is yellow or red.

I do like hoe the Matrix is made to replicate the red core of the EVA though.

Fellow Seibertron.com member Sabrblade has kept an eye on the Takara Tomy Transformers/ Evangelion crossover Masterpiece Convoy, that we've reported on already, and we have more news about availability, prices (currently 25000 yen/250$ approx) and the fiction behind the concept! The website for the product has been updated to show off the figure, its features and accessories including a full 360° rotation image, in both robot and vehicle mode.
