There is an exciting new preorder on Amazon Japan for any Japanese fan of the original Transformers G1 series. It is for a new Blu-Ray collection available for a limited time only which covers the 100 episodes from Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers and Transformers 2010, which are the Japanese versions of Transformers G1 Seasons 1-2 and 3. The price is 19,440 Yen and is region free. It is due for release on December 6. It is only a 3 disk set though, meaning that the Blu-Ray technology is used for its storage capabiliies rather than its high definition, so it won't be clearer than the previously released G1 DVDs. While it is not shown on the listing, there is mention fo new Guido Guidi slipcase cover. For those unaware of the artist's previous work, you can see an example of it below.

hey opinions cannot be validated or invalidated. I can poke fun at the garbage art of TF UK all day long and disgrace the temple of furman, but I know some people here might not appreciate that, so I don't. I would very much get this, as others have pointed out if it had English subs, which Toei is not known for. But this is not unprecedented. Eastern Star/Discotek has released anime series in the United states under the banner of "SD on Blu Ray" basically yes, so you can fit more on one disc. This set will have 95 episodes across 3 discs. Most Likely Discs One and two will split 33/32 episodes each, and the 3rd disc being 2010 will be 30 episodes, and bonus content if any. Also I'm sure Toei's video and audio are much better than Rhino's ever was, no need to be insulting.

I find all the animation errors & some of the goofy plot lines have their own charm. Also, this was one of my favorite shows growing up, so no one can tell me different. & I find the 86 movie to be better than any of the "Live Action" offerings.

While it is true that Japan did get a few new clip show episodes that were made exclusively for the Japanese version by simply recycling preexisting footage from the American episodes, the "100 episodes" count for this Blu-Ray set has to be a mistake. The Blu-Ray set contains all of the same episodes that were previously included on the Japanese DVD sets released by Pioneer/Geneon, which were 65 season 1-2 episodes, 30 season 3 episodes, and three bonuses: "Exciting Transformer!", "Scramble City", and Parts 1-3 of "The Rebirth". None of the clip shows have ever seen home video release.

The listing counts 35 for season 3 making it 100 total:

Primary animation all 65 episodes is the origin + it has been continued aired 2010 all 35 episodes, released!

But from your count its the same: 65+ 30+ "Exciting Transformer!"+ "Scramble City" + "The Rebirth" 1 + "The Rebirth" 2 +"The Rebirth" 3 = 100

But only "The Rebirth" was included in the 2010 DVD set. The other two extras were in the second FSRLTF DVD set. If we're counting those extras as "episodes", then the listing ought to say 67 for FSRLTF and 33 for 2010.

We initially reported on the listing for a new edition of a 3 disc Blu-Ray for the Japanese release of the Transformers Generation One animated series - including 100 episodes from Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers and Transformers 2010, which are the Japanese versions of Transformers G1 Seasons 1-2 and 3 - back in August. We now have some additional news in terms of artwork accompanying the set, all by veteran Transformers artist Guido Guidi: one for the front, one for the back, and several more around the rest of the box set, featuring the entire cast of Seibertron Warriors (Autobots) and Destron Corps (Decepticons). Looks like there is some English audio, is this the first time Rebirth is being released in Japan? Do we know if the audio and video has been remastered?

If there's english options, might this be the first time Japan gets all the US eps uncut? And any possibility those legendary J-exclusive clip shows like 'Airbot vs. Stuntron' are in there somewhere? That would make this one interesting set.

Hang on a sec there, guys. When it mentions English audio, it's only referring to that option for just "Day of the Machines", "Attack of the Autobots", and Parts 1-3 of "The Rebirth", as those were the only episodes that weren't originally aired in Japan back in the 80s, and later were released in Japan on the old Pioneer Laserdiscs and DVDs in uncut form with optional English audio and Japanese subtitles.

As for the clip shows, no, those sadly are left out of this release, as this is just a recycling of all the same material that was previously included in the old Pioneer DVD boxed sets.

For this Blu-Ray release, Disc 1 contains all the contents of the first FSRLTF DVD set:

Episodes 1-35 of FSRLTF
Bonus feature: Commercials

Disc 2 contains all the contents of the second FSRLTF DVD set:

Episodes 36-63 of FSRLTF, plus "Day of the Machines" and "Attack of the Autobots" in Japanese
