"The Golden One had many strange and wonderful loyalists."
One of which is even a boomerang!

After several weeks of animation models from the G1 season 3 episode "Madman's Paradise" Jim Sorenson finishes up the transformation sequences of the Destron Targetmasters with Misfire. As always further insights can be found at Jim's blog, Disciples of Boltax.

The 80s/early 90s really did have some sick designs for jets and the like. I'd wanna fly one of those around while shooting s*** up.

Agreed. Original concept fighters these days are much more conservative. Those of the 80s/90s looked like they were designed by 11 year olds who were brought up solely on Battlestar, Buck Rogers and Gerry Anderson.

I always thought of him being more like one of those F-Zero cars, I can totally see a futuristic car like that riding across Big Blue or something.

This week's Ark Addendum update gives us a look at another of Japan's Super God Masterforce characters, Diver. Check out his transformation sequence is mirrored from our friend Jim Sorenson's blog, Disciples of Boltax, below.

Jim Sorenson wrote:I think my favorite bit from the Diver model isn't represented here. It's the tattoo on his human form that reads "perked up anchor." Oh, Japan!

It must suck having to plunge crotch first in to battle.

Jim Sorenson has updated his blog, Disciples of Boltax, another Ark Addendum update. This time we get a look at the Masterforce Pretender and Cybertron Leader Metalhawk's transformation sequence. Click here to visit Jim's always informative blog Disciples of Boltax.

Metalhawk is the Cybertron leader for the first part of Masterforce, until Ginrai takes up the mantle. He's also one of the handful of Japanese exclusive molds to the Masterforce line (along with, from memory, God Bomber, Overlord, Browning, and some new tooling on Ginrai, Grand Maximus, and Black Zarak.) His die-cast metal bits made him stand out, as these had largely been abandoned by the tail end of 1986.

Such a great character! And what I like about him is the fact that he has two histories - Anime and manga. Because in both, he is listed as a Space Commander. However, in the anime, he had the authority to promote Ginrai (the human) to the rank of Supreme Commander. Yet, in the manga, he did not (as Fortress did such).
But, either way, he is one of those characters that I have high respect for because of who he is an what he stands for.
(Plus, I am currently hoping that Generations 2013 will add him as their first exclusive of the year.
)
But, either way, he is one of those characters that I have high respect for because of who he is an what he stands for.

Make that five histories now, what with his being introduced into American fiction in recent years. he's now got anime, manga, Wings Universe, IDW G1 and Classics. Not bad for Space Commander.KUMA-NIN Maximus wrote:Such a great character! And what I like about him is the fact that he has two histories - Anime and manga.

Totally agree! He's one of my three favorite Masterforce Autobots/Cybertrons.KUMA-NIN Maximus wrote:But, either way, he is one of those characters that I have high respect for because of who he is an what he stands for.

Seven, actually. There is also the Marvel UK version and Timelines. And that makes him "Hall of Fame" material in my book.
Nice! Two on the Cybertron front, as the other is Grand. And three overall because of Chainclaw.

Though, his Timelines appearance is the same thing as his Classics appearance.
So, still five, but still impressive for a guy like him.
My other two are Ginrai and Diver.

Marvel UK was just in a newsletter instead of a fictional appearance.KUMA-NIN Maximus wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Make that five histories now, what with his being introduced into American fiction in recent years. he's now got anime, manga, Wings Universe, IDW G1 and Classics. Chainclaw? I was only counting Masterforce franchise characters, not 1988 characters in general.KUMA-NIN Maximus wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Totally agree! He's one of my three favorite Masterforce Autobots/Cybertrons.

And that is what I get for not looking up my facts first.
Because to be honest, my preferences are Headmasters and Victory. But since I am collecting Lieutenant and Regional (City, Earth, Space, etc.) Commanders, I am getting a bit more into this series.
That, and debating if I should try to add God Ginrai to my collection. It is a challenge because they only made the Godmaster version, and I need to decide to get it since his Victory appearance qualifies to be in my collection.
Chainclaw was more of an honorable mention, as he was one of the last Transformers that I had owned as a kid. That, and he is the only Hasbro exclusive I like to this day.
