Seems kind of silly to sell a few of something at an inflated price, as opposed to a lot or at least more of something at a more reasonable price.
I don't get the whole exclusive thing anyway, seems kind of bourgeoisie, especially for toys, and particularly for a repaint of a toy that's still on the shelf at Target, but I guess that way of thinking is why I'm not a Takara or Hasbro executive.

Not to be the classic nerd, but these are Transformers. It's practically a religion. If Hasbro/Takara released a $800 4" Megatron who didn't transform, people will buy it.

What concerns me is that Transformers may start traveling down the path of manufactured collectables with artificially inflated prices like Beanie Babies or 1990's comics, and before long we have a flood of exclusives that don't sell, and then the product becomes unprofitable and then obsolete. I think often the decision to release "exclusive" products has less to do with customer demand, and more to do with executives looking to cash in quick then bail before the ship sinks, with no concern towards the longevity of the company or their customers.

Sweet...Screw the SDCC 2014 Dino Set and I'm canceling my preorder for the G1 exclusive Slog from Amazon.
I'll gladly let BBTS take my money for their Dinobots Platinum set...I'd go as high as $225. I hope it is not more than that. At least I think Hasbro will produce more for BBTS than were produced for SDCC.
Way to go BBTS...hope you recover what was lost on the Transformers Prime Dark Energon figs from last year. These exclusives are much better.

Actually, in robot mode, Bumblebee and Stinger are exact duplicates. Only their vehicle modes are different. Reshelling Deluxe Class Bumblebee would've been ridiculously easy, but they went the cheap route.
