TF Fan Kelvin, from the Talk Transformers Facebook Page, has made a quick overview of the very subtle changes found on the recent reissue of G1 Trypticon which was "announced" at SDCC 2015:

* G1 Trypticon's eyes are gold chrome (vacuum metallised), reissue's are metallic gold stickers
* G1 Trypticon's lower ramp has two small 'bumps,' these are absent on the reissue
* Reissue Trypticon has various legal blurbs and logos tampographed on the toy which are absent on the G1 figure

For those wondering, the other use of the mold, Gigastorm, also had gold sticker eyes.

It's good to know... I took the plunge and bought him. Didn't think I'd have had as much fun with trypticon as I'm havin. Build quality is very good, much much better than reissue metroplex.

My main issue with him like so many g1 toys is the accessory storage. There isn't one mode that uses all the pieces at once.

Maybe some enterprising 3rd party developer might devise a way of connecting all his accessories to the tank or dino mode (which I think most peeps will have him displayed as)

I don't think that is possible as the radar array accessories are only functional when you split him open as battle station mode.

Brunt is also like that, splits up during the mode I mentioned.

My G1 Hasbro Trypticon had stickers for the eyes. So maybe the chrome eyes were a Takara deal?

To give us a full take on the new edition of Hasbro Transformers G1 Trypticon, albeit in the Platinum Edition reissue, fellow Seibertronian optibotimus shared with us his video review of the sassy behemoth (I'm talking IDW incarnation, here). We've already highlighted some of the differences between this version and the original release, but check out a full video below!

I bought G1 Trypticon from eBay for $16, so it's hard for me to spend $230 including shipping for the reissue. The guy I bought it from was clearing his attic. I already spent a lot of money on the MP-10 reissue and Platinum Seeker Squadron this week.

If it was 100% complete and unbroken, that was one hell of a lucky find. However, a single lucky find does not make it the norm.

Ultra Magnus and power glide stole trypticon's machine gun, rocket launcher and radar dishes, point is they use the common (5mm?) post and can be used by many modern figures.

Thanks to Alucard Lee on Weibo, we get our first look at the rumored Platinum Edition Dinobots set! Unfortunately those rumors has been that this set will be the reissue of the G1 Dinobots that fans has been clamoring for. With that it is with great disappointment that the leaked image shows us that the Platinum Edition Dinobot set is actually redecos of Age of Extinction Dinobots similar to the SDCC 2014 exclusive set that we got just last year. The difference here is that you get all 5 G1 decos of Age of Extinction Grimlock, Snarl, Slug, Strafe, and Slog which appears to be slightly different than the decos of the SDCC set.

Disappointed by this reveal? Excited because you missed out on the SDCC set and will be picking this up? Let us know on the Seibertron.com forums here. Check out the image we've mirrored below and remember keep your optics tuned to Seibertron.com for the latest in news and updates!

EDIT:
Upon further inspection of the leaked picture provide by Alucard Lee this morning. It appears these AOE Dinobot redecos also have brand new G1 inspired headsculpts further differentiating this Platinum set from the SDCC set from 2014!

Eh, I got the SDCC set + the Amazon exclusive Slog.
Happy with them, never heard they were doing this.
But when I read it, I was hoping for those black/dark
colored more screen accurate Dinobots.
G1 reissue complete Dinobot set never came to mind, but
for those who did. It must suck pretty hard -_-

Good for the wallet & livingspace, since I'm going to
get 90% of all Combiner Wars figures. Way too much
Transformers awesomeness, so no loss here for me.
G1 reissue Grimlock does sound like a great idea.

No way this is 80... 2 voyagers and 3 deluxes in a Platinum box set? I'm guessing this will at least be 120

The shiny chrome and G1 colors look good on the Dinobots. However, I generally refuse to buy any Bayverse figures on principle. The whole movie toy franchise (and the movies themselves) have just left a sour taste in my mouth. So much potential - so utterly wasted.

My Metroplex was bought in the UK an has rubber wheels.
I think they must have sold both types as with Ultra Magnus.

I can't say I've seen a rubber tired Rodimus with Metal feet from a UK source yet though. I should have bought the reissue to get one with metal feet and tires - but it slipped my mind that there was that difference.

I did really miss the lack of rubber tires on Chromedome though.

I wonder if they'd considered a shiny deco might look nice on G1 Rodimus if he was ever reissued again.

The Dinobots like the other recent Platinum sets are nice enough but I'd not want to pay crazy premium for them.

In a way I'd have been more keen if they'd left Sludge/Slog out and included Slash instead or left out Grimlock and sold him on his own in leader class size in G1 colours.

It bugs me that they keep neglecting Slash - do they not think people would want Slash in a colour other that teal ?

He's a decent enough toy once you swap his legs over

Them platty dinos has got me intrigued. I don't own any of those molds and I'm liking the decos. I didn't notice Scorn was missing, but that makes sense considering the theme. I would like to have him too though. I guess it will come down to price and availability.

Well... I got Grimlock and Slug already... But if this comes to Brazil at a not too absurd price, I may even consider getting these. The odds that I'll ever see Slog, Snarl and Strafe for sale here are -100. I'm liking these decos and wouldn't mind having two repeated extras...

I just woke up, sorry.
Anyway I'm happy that these exist, I might pick them up because I doubt we're getting classics dinobots anytime soon and TBH I like these guys. At the very least it'll lower the cost of getting the original set with its beautiful box. Down side these guys still have that transparent plastic that I don't like, and they could use for gold.

You can tell me instead if the other guy doesnt answer :)

And am I the only one who would have preferred Toon accurate decos? I would love Swoop to have a blue chest. Anyways, none of this really surprises me. They've reissued SDCC sets in the past (with slight alterations) for the mass market. Like SDCC Bruticus.

Oh and check this news post I wrote: http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=102664&p=1658641&hilit=dinobots#p1658641

The colors are more consistent. The SDCC set, bless its heart, was awfully inconsistent with the kinds of golds/browns that were applied, and whether those colors were chromed.

Here, you have a much more unified color scheme amongst the deluxes, and the two figures that have gold, the voyagers, appear to have the same tone of it. I dunno, that's just to my eye.

And if these do indeed have G1 inspired head sculpts, well... that gives this set a real reason to exist.

Yeah, it's hard to make out the details, but those heads definitely don't seem to match up with the original Age of Extinction ones. It would have been nice had they gone with the G1 cartoon coloring for Swoop/Strafe (blue chest) or Slag (red helmet).
