First Look at Packaging Art for Transformers Victory Saber

Posted by william-james88 Feb 1, 2022 at 9:37pm CST 29,907 views
Hasbro has sent fans another update to the upcoming Transformers Victory Saber. We now have images about the packaging art that is being done by fan favourite artist Guido Guidi.

“Working with our design team, Guido explored many different style options to best represent Star Saber, Victory Leo, and the Victory Saber combined mode. He tested how the composition would fit within our packaging constraints, while still looking amazing on your shelf. The classic reformatting gridlines and structure scan design were an important part of the Transformers: Victory animation, and we wanted to make sure we incorporated them in the final art”

This packaging is still in progress but ew have a good idea of it's components now. You can see the different mock ups and line art from Guido below.

Missing another Option: one without the Legacy toyline logo.

I know Unicron's got the WFC logo. But that just proofed it's unnecessary nor wanted, it was not shown in the Netflix animated series or storyline.

I'd rather they put HasLab instead if they must, and make it as minimal as possible.

My bad. I did half-watch it (have it on while WfH), and totally forgot about it. My bad my bad. XD

Which episode you got the capture from? I should rewatch that part at 2x speed.

Unicron was in Earthrise episode 5, Kingdom episode 1, Kingdom episode 5, and Kingdom episode 6.

After fans helped me to reason on the whole Kingdom/SS86 series mess. I have come to the realization also that packaging doesn't really matter. I mean cool packaging (like what was seemingly shown off for VS) is GREAT, but whether it says Haslab, or Legacy, or Generations, doesn't really bother me.

Basically with Selects, - I call it just that "Selects", I have to really think about what year it came out, and as to what Generations line it corresponded to, but that is secondary information, not really vital to the release. I consider Haslab as basically a crowd-funded Selects toy, so whatever label they put on it wont effect me at the end of the day. A cool box with cool box art is defintely bonus though ;)^

I tend to keep windowless boxes that have great boxart. Reflector, the whole Commander class so far, The Ark, Ecto-1, etc. come to mind. This Star Saber will be kept for sure. That's why I don't want big logos on it.

To be fair, the WFC logo treatment on Unicron's box is not bad, but I still think it's unnecessary. HasLab/Unicorn is so much its own thing, it needn't be attached to a toyline.

All of HasLab's projects are made to go with an existing line, not just Unicron. Even the Ghostbusters Protonpack was made to go with an existing retail wand and they basically made an entire vintage line just to go with the G.I.Joe Skystriker.

Wish I had the spare cash to buy into this...

I have one prediction for this set: It'll get a gallery before anything from Power of the Primes does, as will Legacy Metroplex :P

Wow 42 minutes! I've watched about 5 and I like what I'm seeing so far, I'll definitely watch the rest later, looks like they are listening to fan concerns/requests to make this the best release possible.

Definitely looks to be that way, the big takeaways for me were the fact that wing saber has double butterfly joints at the shoulder and an ab crunch. He can store the sword blade in his calf, and all the accessories can store fairly cleanly in all modes. The lion guy combines with wingsaber via a 5mm port and can therefore be attached to any figure with a 5mm port on their back (gives big cybertron wingsaber vibes) I also greatly appreciate how they designed the brainmaster figures, I thought it was very clever.

Of note, the guy said that the lion shoes could only combine with star saber "for now" meaning they might have another figure in the works that will be combatable with lion guy

Yeah I caught that "for now" part. They may have initially been toying with the CW system as a means of connection, which would have been neat, ( thinking of Legacy motor master or even Legends God Bomber) but for stability I definitely get it, and am glad they went the way they did.

It's funny you mention godbomber, because I was wondering if they are working on a new version of him using this system, since they both upgrade via putting on shoes, can't think of anyone else that does that since they say saber "...is the only one he can combine with for now..." :-?

We saw the process for Victory Saber so far. They showed us the tooling process and now we have the engineering pilot for the figure. Meaning this has the plastic that would be used in the final product. Of course, since this is a pilot (prototype), it can change, that's the point. But this is close to the final version enough that Hasbro is taking the opportunity to run through it with us with a 42 minute video, showing us all the features of the toy. Hopefully you reserved your copy already because at the current prices, it's looking more and more like a bargain everyday and it will surely be a hot commodity once released.

Friend of the site Hellscream9999 gave us a quick rundown of the more notable aspects in case you don't have 42 minutes.

"Wing Saber"?

That would be interesting. I'm perfectly happy with my TR/Legends hybrid God Ginrai, but I know a lot of folks would appreciate another take on it.

I'm probably hyping this up a bit much in my mind, but this toy looks great. Those that see my posts know I can be quite critical of Hasbro at times, btu I'm going to give them all the props when I think they deserve it, and after watching the full video I am super excited for this.

Admittedly, I'll say Selects Black Zarak looks amazing. I think the Headmaster/ Deluxe bot' is a little too "fiddly" as parts fall off easier than I would like, but posing in Robot mode looks amazing!

I wish there were a few more size comparisons. They are a bit taller than I expected, which is a huge plus. Star Saber was originally estimated to be "Voyager" size, but he is definitely T30/Prime Wars leader size at least, and with all the extra parts and engineering, probably brings him close to CC.

Victory Leo is definitely a "Beefy Voyager" which is nice, since original estimates had him close to a Deluxe. Victory Saber when altogether I'm guessing is easily as tall (maybe a fraction taller?) than CC Jetfire, and I'm ok with that. :APPLAUSE:
