@SEGA_OFFICIAL has tweeted an in-package image of the gold Mega Drive Megatron. This is part of a Sega promotional campaign for Japanese residents by purchasing the upcoming Sega 3D Reprint Archives, between 18th December 2014 and 31st January 2015, and filling in an online questionnaire to be able to win.

Is this piece a hit over there, because I don't see the fascination with it. It's kind of like the shoe-formers that came out a few years back...in other words, "WTF?"

Surprised this didn't come up before, but... did anybody else notice that the remolded "16-Bit" piece on Genesis Megatron actually reads "15-Bit"?

We may have seen images of both of these previously, but we also get a nice look at the boxes for both the Takara Tomy licensed and fully transformable Sega Genesis Mega Drive Megatron and Playstation X Optimus Prime, once again from Wonderfest 2015, and via Autobase Aichi - check them out below!

The proper English title is "Everybody's Golf", though in North America it was "Hot Shots Golf". And it was a fun game back in the day.

I have no idea what the other disc is, though.

プレプレ vol. 1, (Play-Play Vol. 1) tied to the Playstation CLUB in Japan. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's a Demo Disc.

Does anyone have suggestions for what series Sega Mega Drive Megatron and Playstation Optimus Prime should go under? What about the phone Optimus, powerbank Optimus Prime and tablet Soundwave? I really want to put them all under Device Label or Transformers Collaborative but neither of those are correct.

I"m afraid there's not one single umbrella label that all of these particular items fall under.

The Sega Megatron and PlayStation Optimus didn't have a formal Transformers toyline label of their own, but have a branding label of "TakaraTomy Arts".

The phone Optimuses (and Megatron and Bumblebee) were sold under the toyline label of "au × Transformers".

And both the Optimus Prime power bank and the tablet Soundwave under the toyline label of "Xiaomi / Transformers".

It might make things easier to create a general category label to group all of these individual ones under it. Something like "Crossover collaborations", so that you can put all of these different device collabs under in one group.

This makes me think we should just have a subcategory under Transformers Collaborative that covers these.

Yup. That would be the best solution. Especially with all the recent crossovers that we got with Stranger Things, Naruto, Sonic, Knight Rider, Ghostbusters, and more. They should all be in the same category.
How about "Transformers Collaboratives"? :-?

Seibertron.com just leveled up our gallery game with three new additions to the Console Crossovers category under Takara's Miscellaneous section! These awesome figures mash up classic Transformers characters with some of the most legendary gaming hardware of all time:

PlayStation Optimus Prime
Sega Genesis Megatron
16-Bit Mega Drive Megatron

They might not have come out under the original Device Label or Music Label banners, but they feel like spiritual successors — carrying on that same cool idea of turning Transformers into real-world tech. Just like those Label toys, these console crossovers blend nostalgia for both robots and retro gadgets in a way that is pure fun.

These drop right on the heels of our recent Transformers Collaborative x Sonic the Hedgehog galleries, where Blue Booster and Wingtail brought some high-speed Sega energy into the mix. Together, they show just how far Transformers can go when crossing over into the gaming world.

Big thanks to my brother-in-law v-tron for hooking me up with Sega Genesis Megatron almost 10 years ago. It’s not every day a family member surprises me with a Transformer I don’t already own!

A bit of a tangent, but wasn't there a Soundwave that actually was a real cassette player?

Not Soundwave, but some other bot that never came into Transformers. At least, Soundwave did became a functioning MP3 player with Frenzy and Rumble being a pair of functioning headphones.

If you're talking about the modern figure then that's the Music Label Soundwave, it was an MP3 player.

This surprise me because even in 1985, it was possible to make him transformable. Maybe they wanted to keep him affordable. :-?
