Bay has already made some monumental clangers. I was hoping a new director would come in and get things back on track.

How can things get back on track when the first movie that establishes this new 'universe' hasn't even benn released yet? In other words, as far as the movies are concerned, there is no track to be off of yet. If you switched gears back to a pure G1 movie for a sequel, then things would appear more off track than any change that has already been made.
Personally, the movie is starting to look good to me. I'll have to wait and see it to decided whether or not I'l like to see the cast and crew stay on (though I doubt that they wouldn't).

Yeah, movies don't even have to be good anymore to get sequels. Just look at Fantastic Four.
Seriously, though, I am hoping that the TF movie turns out to be incredible. I really don't know if it will or not, but I'm hoping.

EDIT:

Yeah, that's more or less a decent summation. Not 100% on the money, but definitely at least 85%, and bonus points for being a decent sound byte.

However, I will give him credit in the area that he does know how to blow up and smash stuff good.
From the clips I saw yesterday(however brief they where) nthe acting seemed better than Spider-Man3(still sad about that).
So all this in mind plus the rumor that Hasbro(?doing something right?) is pushing for more traditional designs for TF2, this just may not be a bad thing.
I'll know for sure on 7.5.07(I'm pissed, but I gotta leave town for the opening)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Keep him out of it all together. I want a real Transformer movie next. Not a kick ass action movie with giant robots that happen to turn into cars. Maybe he should go make Bad Boys 3 so that way he cant do the next movie. Id rather see him make another Bad Boys than another TF movie. The next movie needs to be for the fans. Frak the evreyday movie goers. Give us a movie.
what kind of movie do you want it to be like then?
Posted by Phategod1 on May 8th, 2007 @ 6:02pm CDT
Guerillmo del Toro
Peter Jackson
Ridley Scott
Steven Speilberg
Paul W S. anderson (thats right I went there)
Robert Rodriguez
The Guy who did 300
James Cameron
Paul Verhoeven
John McTiernan
Alfonso Cuarón
Gore Verbinski
The Warshowski's
Doug Liman
Seth Green
or the guy who did ALF

NOTE: Just kidding about the last one, Not Paul though.

I'd guess this is all dependant on the first movie's takehome. If it's colossal (even sans faceplate) I'm sure Bay will open up his schedule.

So that no one touches the property for a decade or two, at which point the franchise may not have the appeal it has had the past few years, which will then make it even less likely a new film will be made?

Yes give the fans and only the fans a movie so that it will make thousands, and not the millions that the studio spent to give the "Fans" their movie. Why do you think that you are so righteous that you deserve a movie made specifically for you and not all of the other people who like transformers but are not rabid fans or "purists".
More and more you give Bay & Co. reason to not listen to what the fans have to say regarding things because all you can do is bash what he does and how he does it. Not everyone may like his movie style but theres a reason he is making 200 million dolar movies and we are sitting on our ass bitching about his decisions.

On the other hand I am a big Iron Man fan too, and look at the armor they designed (built by Stan Winston) and you can make a good design based on the source material. Look At Spider-man's costume, its pretty much like the comic, with some tweeks. They could "update" the Cartoon style by making it more realist and cool, while at the same time keeping to the heart of the original design.

Very few of us Starting Bitching when Bay was announced as Director. I had more reservations with Brett Rattner then Bay I would say my emotion was more apprehensive then anything else, and I actually gave him the benifit of the doubt. But it was rediculous decision after Rediculous decision that reinforced my apprehension and my belief that Micheal is a great Stunt Coordinator but a Piss poor Director. I Honestly think Paul W.S Anderson is better Director his only problem is like Rattner he's a YES man he'll take what ever poor Budget a studio gives him or decision to make a movie PG-13 he'll stick with but when you give anderson room to breath he makes fully servicable movies. He just needs to grow a Micheal Bay like back bone.

Yeah, that movie is gonna rock! NO ONE has bitched about Iron Man's design. As an artist myself, I just don't like the look of the Bayformers. They look to Angular for me. I was disapointed, I think they could have done better.

But hey, if ya want it simple, they could always make SPYCHANGERS THE MOVIE. Would certainly save them a bundle on transformation effects.

Peter Jackson and Robert Rodriguez? No thank you! TF would either end up a 4 hour movie with 30 DVD releases adding on to the length, or a B-movie wanna be like "Grind House."

Well if jackson did it noone would be bitching about getting the characters right you have more then 5 autobots and one kick ass battle sequence And you do know that RR did Sincity, El mariachi, desperado, Dusk till Dawn, the spy kids movies and Shark boy and Lava girl. The one Thing about RR is he gives you exaclty what you expect you ask for a comic book movie scene for scene is like panel for panel. But if where profiling do you really want the movie to be Like Amegeddon with Cheesy aerosmith cuts and a sappy love story and a ludicrous astrophysics and half a dozen Tired hollywood cliches.

Only good thing is that at least Cullen's gonna be Optimus again after this one, should a sequel happen. And if Hasbro is pushing for more traditional designs, that outta tell you something.

I've seen the previews. I don't like it one bit. If you enjoyed the disaster that was Armageddon then I'm sure you will enjoy Transformers.
Once I found out it was Michael Bay I knew this movie was going to suck. The only movies he made that I like are Bad Boys & The Rock. Pearl Harbor had nothing to do with WW2. He made it into a crappy love triangle story.

Now if you said Battlefield Earth then you may have had a point.

Well it was about ten years after the original show was on when beast wars hit the air, so um yeah Paragon post is pretty accurate.
