You've seen the figures, you've seen the pre-orders, and now we're getting our first look at the packaging of Siege Leader Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime and Battle Masters Smashdown and Caliburst. Posted by both DaimChoc on Facebook (thanks to Albatross250 in the Energon pub forums for the tip) we see Optimus really filling out his box leaving little room inside. Newcomer Smashdown has some truly fantastic art going on as he smashes the ground, while Caliburst is blasting away at Autobots (is that Red Alert getting blown up in the background!?). These are turning into must-have figures so get a good look at what you'll be searching for when you're out on the hunt later this year.

Galaxy Convoy/Cybertron Prime is still looking amazing. Still disappointed that Hasbro decided to make it just G1 Prime but with armor instead of going all out and doing a new Galaxy Convoy/Cybertron Prime. Hope some 3rd Party company is already planning an upgrade kit for him to give him Cybertron Prime's base head and better cannons or at least cannon fillers

Wasnt the original similar to that? I remember it being the most G1 prime since G1 prime.

Kinda, aside from the mouth slit and accented crest:

Hardly! Cybertron Prime is as far removed from the G1 design as it gets:
-Cybertronian Fire Truck vs '80 Square Cab with trailer
-Silver and yellow head details
-Optimus Primal-esque mouth
-Arm wheels
-Fake chest windows of a completely different shape
-Has the shoulders made from the front of the cab

I'm just meaning the inner bot, specifically the head. It's a small thing, but for some reason it really bothers me that even in a big new non-G1 figure, there still had to be some G1 for it to be made. Cause Cybertron Prime had a mouthplate similar to Optimus Primal where he still had the mouth, but also plating around it, and this new version is just G1 Prime inside armor that makes him look like Cybertron Prime, rather than Cybertron Prime and his Supermode

I'd like to think of him as G1 Prime, but with armor and power derived from his Galaxy Force counterpart... Like Kamen Rider Zi-O

Frankly the G1-esque chest does not bother me, I understand the limitations of retooling. However the lack of Cybertron Optimus/Galaxy Convoy head in the smaller mode really bugs me.

I mean, Bayverse Prime or Armada Prime would probably take the title of "Farthest Removed from G1" because Armada Prime doesn't have the chest windows in any capacity, with yellow and more angular designs, and Bayverse Prime is... Well, as much as I love the Bayverse designs (pre AOE and TLK), even I can't really find any outstanding similarities until it gets to the mouthplate and ears

I find early Bayverse Prime to be more G1-accurate in the kibble placement than Cybertron Optimus, but that's just me.

I was really hoping they would do his arms in blue like they did at TFNY. I know it was never going to happen, but I hoped.

Guess I’ll have to pull out the Testors and the brushes.

No that would be Beast Wars bat Optimus because that was intended to be Optimus Prime. Pretty sure he’s got that title if there was one

I think the most far removed optimus prime would be machine wars optimus prime and the first transmetal optimus primal as there is nothing similar to compare with any other optimus prime

Optimus Primal in any of his forms can get away with it by virtue of his being a separate person from Optimus Prime.

Don't forget G2 Go-Bot Optimus Prime and the G2 Autoroller General Optimus Prime. ;)

But you know? Those two plus Machine Wars get a pass because they were redecos of non-Optimus Prime figures.

The farthest I can thing of from G1 Optimus is the Movie KNIGHT Optimus as seen in AoE and TlK. That Optimus is a long nose truck, but the bot is a dude wearing a wetsuit with absolutely no hint of a truck anywhere on his body.

How did you come up with this projection for the Voyager waves? I would just assume Wave 4 is Apeface for now. Why repeat Thundercracker and then have have a fifth wave with Apeface again?

I was trying to base these off the release dates. All of the classes have some wonky release dates really.

also, Galaxy Prime looks fantastic! And Smashdown as the mascot of the Wreckers who happens to be a Minotaur Hammer is everything I could ever have wanted. I'm buying 3.

Also got Shockwave this weekend. Passed on him upon seeing him initially Friday night, but went back and got him tonight. They even added the SS leaders in that time, so triple leader score!

Will pass on some thoughts later this week once I open him. I still need to fully appreciate megs and Prime. And Prime truly is fan-frikkin-tastic

I think it's because those are actually the release dates for the character specific cases. So, when you see "September" for Springer or something like that, it's the release date for the all-Springer case, not the retail wave that goes to brick-and-mortar stores that will contain Springer and Thundercracker together, for instance.

If you want to really go deep with third party and have some patience I believe Make Toys teased a Galaxy Force Convoy. I know I would go for that if I could justify spending that much on a figure like that (still might try to anyway)

I unfortunately can't even justify MP figures, let alone 3rd Party MP scaled figures. Upgrade kits are as far as I can go without BBTS' insane discounts on some older figures, and even then I can really only justify the upgrade kits ones for figures that truly need one like Optimal Optimus from POTP and Predaking, or figures that Hasbro won't ever do like Paddles

Some of the Maximals were cool, if weird- Blackarachnia, Night Viper, Skydive and Hammerstrike at the very least looked cool. I feel BM is a seriously underrated toyline; there was a lot of junk but also some really good figures. And the Vehicons as mentioned were really nice.

I also wish we'd get a new BM Cheetor figure that isn't a super-expensive MP, the "Xenomorph cat" look was really interesting IMO.

Battle Unicorn and the Optimus Primal I mentioned previously are the only Maximals that come to mind as cool figures. The rest... Someone in the design team was clearly heavily smoking something exotic. Anorexic Cheetor was just bizarre on so many levels, as was Silverbolt The Turkey...

9 out of 10 Vehicons were solid and could easily be added to the War For Cybertron trilogy with minimal effort.

You madman.

Myself I still want to track down Universe Skywarp (or any other version of that mold really), the jet mode is awesome and the robot mode, strange though it is, is nice too. I can see a lot of those molds working as cannon fodder/generics for either side with the relevant stickers. Same for some UT figures.

Actually, Siege Obsidian, Strika and Blastcharge would be cool. Obsidian and Strika are cool characters with "OK I guess" toys (especially poor Strika) and Blastcharge has a great vehicle mode with a ridiculous robot mode.

The Jetstorm mold was so underrated (both size classes).
Blastcharge and Strika were part of the 1/10 'not-so-good' Vehicons. Vehicle mode, yes! Bot Mode... KILL IT WITH FIRE :michaelbay:

Scavenger was a great Vehicon design, that really could have benefited from being a few size classes bigger.

Personally I think Nightslash Cheetor isn't too bad as he is. He isn't accurate but he is the best BM Cheetor mold.

It's a funny story and probably why Hasbro should have watched Galoob a little closer when they made the Titanium line (I mean, aside from quality control issues).

From TFWiki:
This figure is the first transforming toy commemorating the Beast Machines story, designs, and faction symbols. According to Titanium Series concept designer Don Figueroa, making Titanium Cheetor use the BM body was his idea. It seems he was told simply to make "Cheetor", but his Hasbro supervisors never specified which Cheetor to make. Aaron Archer corroborated this, saying Hasbro had not meant to produce a Beast Machines figure: they had simply put Cheetor's name on a list, and the toy ended up being, as Archer put it, "the wrong one."

Snake Bots are typically a design I don't like. One mode or the other usually has to make big concessions to make the look viable.
Night Viper is definitely one of the better Maximals and boded far better than his counterpart in BW2/Neo, but I didn't like how his head sat in Bot Mode.

Question...Are the base modes for UM fan made, or actually part of the design?..., if they are designed, do they have compatibility with TR like the upcoming Omega Supreme?

Fan made, no compatibility. Other than possibly being able to add some parts onto a TR base using the 5mm posts and ports

Found out that the battlemaster effects can fit on some Iron Factory figures.

Thanks to a heads up from Seibertronian Kanrabat, we have word that popular Youtube creator Emgo316 has uploaded reviews for the upcoming Wave 2 Micromasters! The wave 2 Micromasters consist of the Spy Patrol, which is Laserbeak and Ravage, designed to act as shields/tapes while still fitting in voyager Soundwave's chest, and the Rescue Patrol, which features Red Heat and Stakeout, fresh off of his claim to fame from the acclaimed Sins of the Wreckers appearance. Ravage, Laserbeak, and Stakeout are new molds, though Stakeout shares engineering with Roadhandler, while Red Heat is a retool of Top Shot.

These upcoming Micromasters should be made available in the coming months at retail, and will sell for around $9.99. Check out the reviews below, and let us know what you think of these upcoming Micromasters in the comments section below!
