It is called "Broken Windshields", by Jim Sorenson, and set in the Beast Wars: Uprising universe. It stars Lio Convoy, who is one of the club figures being released this year.
The best part is that it's free to read and doesnt require a Club membership subscription. You can read it here.
More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

Eh, it wasnt a bad read, I guess, I liked seeing Scylla in astylized Thunderblast body, but the voices for B'Boom and #break were extremely annoying. And all in all, i'mjust as happy uing the Uprising stuff as a faux expansion to DoFP

TCC Magazine Collected Editions Volumes 4 and 5 have finally been released.
Volume 4 collects issues 19-24, and Volume 5 collects issues 25-30.
These two, along with the first three volumes, compile the entire Nexus Prime story arc from the Club's first five years, 2005-2009.
Both volumes are given their own brand new cover art by Robby Musso.
When lined up together, all of the covers from the five collected editions form a single massive mosaic of characters from the stories within.

Great to hear these are coming out.
The one containing 19-22 is all I need to finish my run, then I should have em all.
Really nice seeing that stitched cover image; really impressive work.

Those first five years chronicling Nexus Prime's creation were really cool, and really special considering that it constituted as what I like to call the "Pre-Wings Universe Era", as all the comics that came in the magazine from 2010-2012 were all set in the Wingsverse.
2013 got us sorta back in track with the Beast Wars Shattered Glass story involving the Origin Matrix, which tied into Nexus Prime's search for the Star Saber.
Last year's "Alone Together" story was also kind of a distraction like 2010-2012 Wings stuff was, but this year's "Another Light" seems to finally be getting back on track with more of the search for the Star Saber and also picking up where the 2012 "Invasion" story left things.
I am such a nerd.

I expect/hope them to continue with the overlapping artwork in future volumes.triKlops wrote:Really nice seeing that stitched cover image; really impressive work.

SNAP, another one?!!!
That's the fastest they've ever posted more than one at a time in a LONG time!
Don't get me wrong, this is GREAT news, as they're finally producing fiction with more meat to it again since their comic issues have always been so restrained.

I renewed mine yesterday. I have to laugh reading the benefits though since they still list a forum as one of them even though it shut down years ago despite the Joe club still having theirs. When was the last time they held a contest, I can't even remember them ever having one?

So, I was a member of of the TCC for the first 5 years (So, I have the whole set of transparent plastic Super Link combiner repaints/tools) and I enjoyed it, most of the time, but it also seemed -- particularly at that time -- to be too expensive as a Canadian to stay a member and so after I completed the combiner (lol Nexus Maximus) I didn't renew. I have noticed that several cool things have come since then, including the subscription service, but I still wonder if it is worth the cost... Since I would have to make a rather hasty decision to get the free figure this year, I was hoping that I could get some feedback?

I'm waaaaay behind on Club fiction, but glad to see that Buzzclaw is apparently relevant again; is he a faction symbol in this continuity? I always considered him a personal favorite, because while some Fuzors seemed unnecessarily ugly (though NOT Injector, because how much prettier could a Lionfish/Hornet honestly look?), the lil' Mantecko just seemed so adorable, with his applauding/jaws-of-life action feature.
Or is it someone else?

EDIT: Hadn't looked at the story yet, but now I saw the first page and see what you mean. I think it's just supposed to be a neat design of the main character, though I still haven't read the story yet (need to find an opportunity to sit down and read it this week).

The first word on the first page of the story is "Buzzclaw".
I own three Buzzclaw figures so I'm definitely going to give this a read. Shame his look in this story isn't based on any existing figure. Just skimming through it's a pretty interesting mix of characters.

Just got done reading this "Head Games" story for the first time.
That was heavy. I mean, I know Jim's good, really good, but that was... That had some serious weight to it.
You know that feeling you get after watching a film in the theater for the first time and, just as it ends, everyone in the theater let's out an exhale of awe all at the same time? Yeah, that good.

Couple of quick questions from someone who has never been to a BotCon:
- Are the BotCon comics all in the same continuity, or is each year standalone?
- Is it the same continuity as the 3H BotCon comics
- Have the BotCon comics ever been collected in a trade format either in print or digitally?
EDIT** Nevermind---I actually see that most of my questions were answered in this thread! Thanks!

In short, not all of the BotCon comics are part of the same continuity. Some are, and some aren't. See the list in the first post to see which ones belong to which continuity.
For the third question, the BotCon comics themselves have not been collected in trade format, but several of the TCC magazine comics have. As far as digital releases go, none of the BotCon comics have been released digitally, but nearly all of the TCC text stories and a few non-BotCon comics have.

For the first two questions, I have written a list of nearly every piece of BotCon and TCC fiction in the first post of this thread, which color codes them by continuity.jogunwarrior wrote:Couple of quick questions from someone who has never been to a BotCon:

Updated the list again, and overhauled it to not only break down the giant Fun Pub section by year, but to also specify the kind of medium each piece of fiction is.
EDIT: Added links to where those that can be viewed online legally for free... can be viewed online legally for free.

Very much like last year's fictional Tornado journal pages, the BotCon crew have created three new Facebook pages and profiles tying in to this year's theme and event in the new FunPub instalment. All working under the banner of the Axiom Nexus News channel, the three characters include investigative journalist Rook, reporter Andromeda and the unnamed News Editor. You can find out more and follow their doings by clicking on their profile images below!
