New TF Universe Flash Animation

Posted by i_amtrunks May 5, 2009 at 6:01pm CDT 50,051 views
Hasbro have updated their online video section Monkeybar TV with a second episode of Flash Animated Transformers Action.

Set in an undisclosed timeline where the character designs are an amalgamation of the live action movie and universe toy designs, this three minute episode features Optimus Prime and Bumblebee tracking down and facing off against Megatron and Cyclonus.

Bumblebee even manages to borrow some attacking strategy from Animated Soundwave. While a carbon based Earth Rabbit gets terrorised by both factions.

Bumblebees design is far the best since G1, but the whole animation is painful to watch along with the story (Megatron: We're under attack, Cyclonus, play firefighter!)... The Rude awakening of OP and many Youtube videos seem more professional than this.

Pros: cool designs for Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Cyclonus. Megatron,
Cyclonus and Bumblebee's voices were all very cool and Prime's was decent.

Cons: everything else

Oh, wow. That was just cheesy, even moreso than G1.

Notice that Cyclonus sounds like Richard Newman, and Megs' altmode was similar to Cyclonus's but a bit different.

Also, the Autobts seem more destructive than the Decepticons in this one.

And, since it ended with the Universe logog, would that make this the second episode to Universe (the first episode was Action Blast 1)?

Concept: Nice, combining Movie Aesthetics with a G1 flare
Story: Bland, Ooooh Fire and explosions, and the 'Cons are stealing Energon. Can we get something new here?
Acting:Most Voices Were Good With The Exception of Prime
Animation: Very Shotty
Verdict: :Meh :?

That was ok. I like the character designs, but everything else... :?

Oh well, at least it was better than Action Blast.

Oh and actually Bumblebee's strategy is more akin to OP's strategy, not Soundwave. :)

Since when did Optimus Prime sound like he was programmed by a fortune cookie.

Optimus Prime wrote:Your confidence clouds your caution.

What?

That was better than Animated. The designs were cool. Voices were decent. Dialogue was meh. But still better than Animated.

I like the movie/classics style combined. It would be cool to see THAT Bumblebee and Prime.

Meh, it was okay. The whole music puns were kind of lame.

I've seen more plot in a Survivor episode.

For a 3 minute ditty, I quite liked it. The designs were cool, and it was sorta refreshing to see Megatron with Cyclonus; it doesn't always HAVE to be Galvatron. Felt like a flashback to G1 overall, just condensed into three minutes.

I like it for what it is, and hope they continue to delve into more Universe/G1-esque ideas once the movie's played out.

Not to bad. Defiantly needs work but for a short little clip that was most likely done in some ones free time it wasnt bad. Better concept and style than bayformers thats for sure. They should use this for the basis for the next TF series. And get the guys that did GIJOE Resolute to do it. That would kick ass.

Sweet Sassy Molassy that was Classy.

... is what I would say if it was even kinda sorta of cool.

It's like they put grapes and apples in one bag and called them grapples.

That was kinda cool. I was surprized to see Cyclonus in there. What was with the designs? It's like they couldn't decide whether to do Classics or movie. So they went with both.

Terrible. Just Terrible. If you're listening Hasbro- please never try to combine classics and movie aesthetics- we've already seen what kind of cruddy toys it gets us- Ironhide, Ratchet, and Galvatron. Three of the worst (I'll count em separate if you release em) toys to blemish an otherwise fantastic line.

Please do not try this approach for classics 3.0 or whatever nonsense it might be called.
