They did make a warrior class version of the Optimus:

AND DAMN
I would have really liked to know these were coming out in advance so I could better plan my purchases. As it stands I already have all these takara molds and have no use for double dipping

Eh I'm not as impressed with drift as I wanted to be. I love the character but this just isn't doing it for me. Maybe it's because I love the generations mold so much that it's probably skewing my view.

Seeing them side by side like that, I honestly feel Drift looks better than Jazz. Yes the weapon storage puts the figure over the top

I was refering to takara making one though not hasbro being pretty inaccurate

Takara does have one and they opted for the same deco:

So takara was a warrior clash deco and a leader supreme mode deco available.

Upon further inspection...

It would appear that not only can he wear minicons on his forearms as shields, but also on his kneecaps as knee pads.

Nice lookin bots but Drift just has too much leg kibble and arm/shoulder bulk. He always has i suppose but it just seems so counter intuitive for a character to be so skilled to look so cumbersome in bot mode.

Anybody else have TAV21 Optimus Prime? I have two questions"
1) Is there supposed to be a gap between the trailer and cab? The pictures on the packaging and instructions say no but there's no way to close it up.
2) Does the truck drag on the ground? It seems like the shoulders sit a little too low.

I find it works to mimic samurai armour with lots of padding at the shoulders and hips. Bu I totally get what you mean and it boggles my mind that they used the same kibble heavy generations mold for generations blurr who has no excuse to look cumbersome.
I dont have him with me right now so I dont know about number 2 (haha) but I know for sure that there is a gap because I myself thought the same thing. I realized that the pictures angle it so that it seems there is no gap when indeed there is. Maybe this image will help.

The Takara counterparts suck @ss as much as the Hasbro line IMO. But the awesomeness in this OP cuts through all that crap like a hot blade through an energon cube. I can't wait to pick this one up!

Okay, someone sell me on this mold. I don't have Jazz...
Is this mold a good mold for an IDW ESQUE Drift, or too blocky? Is this a better Drift in your opinion than say the Generations Drift for posability, play value and general looks? And does the asthetic stand out too muchcompared to the myriad of Generations styles between CW and going back to some of the early Classics or is this Best Drift Ever? Cause I like it but i dont know if I need another Drift and I sont pkan to get the Rid Figg cause I am just not that attached to him

Well, I do not have generations Drift, but I can tell you the style does stand out a bit, but the figure is really fun to mess with and transform. His swords are nice hard plastic and they store in every mode very nicely. He's a bit bulky, but that fits some of the japanese armor design to me, and it works on him. Plus the IDW version of this mold has a great head and the colors mesh nicely. They really aren't that far from his current IDW MTMTE look

Yup, exclusive to Takara. It's just a redeco though, it uses the same mold as the RID drift released stateside.
They are both great molds but far from as articulated as the generations toys and very different in style. This Drift is almost like an animated TF version of IDW Drift. I think it is an awesome drift and its transformation and look is more original than the generations toy, but that is when he is seen apart from the rest. As a stand alone toy, it is great. But as part of an IDW set, he would surely stick out like a sore thumb. The feet are just flip down panels for instance. And he<s shorter than the other figures of the generations line.
Maybe this pics will help since this Drift is a redeco of the orange drift in the pic below:

Transformers: Robots In Disguise (2015) Drift Gallery
While the deco changes, the proportions and overal style is the same.

OK I was doing something wrong as you could see the gray ankle joint from the sides. I don't think I had the legs/torso positioned properly.
