Paint Issues on New Retro Tigatron Reissue

Everyone knows what to expect in general from a reissue of the original Beast Wars Tigatron mold, so what I thought would help more than a review is a heads up to the painting defects that you may get on your copy.
This toy is a reissue of the Takara version rather than the Hasbro version, meaning the white is far brighter than the off white chosen on the original Hasbro release. The face is turquoise rather than silver along with other paint app differences which you can see in the gallery contrasting the two original toys.

This reissue, at least my copy, suffers from paint issues in two areas. The face is not properly painted with the paint not covering the entire face and leaving it unpainted as it gets nearer to the eyes. You can see below how the original does not have that problem. There is also an issue with the legs but this one was also found on the original. There is a gap where they are supposed to come together flush. However, this gap is further highlighted by the seam not being properly painted, leaving a white line going down the legs.

But aside from that, the toy feels fine, similar in quality to the original Beast Wars toys and all the joints are nice and tight.

As I've mentioned before Tigatron was my first ever BW toy. AS they show came out when I turned 20, I enjoyed it, but not really enough to get most of the toys, but Tigatron was the exception. Still now, seeing this Vintage reissue I am torn. Almost always I have preferred the TT deco in most cases where there is a difference. However, the nostalgia factor with my original Kenner Tigatron (which is long gone), is strong. I got the Kingdom Release (my only Beast purchase of that line) and I am happy with that. So I'll probably skip tis new vintage release. I did manage to get my son a Tigerhawk from a flea market a couple years back $20, the body was in tact, but of course all the missiles and accessories wee missing. If a vintage Tigerhawk is ever released, (or the very unlikely Generations update), I may get that but we will see.

I have the Universe brown version of Primal and the 10th-anniversary release. I remember both being really, really good, with none of the issues that were mentioned. Has anyone else had problems with this release, it might be an isolated case.

Strange that Tigatron would have these issue when Cheetor didn't, they should be using the same paint templates for the most part (face and inner half of the leg anyway).

These look like issues that could happen on any given copy of a toy.

The latest Transformers Beast Wars reissue toys have been found at Texas Walmarts. Tigatron was spotted by PopCultureJunk2 who posted their image on Twitter and Scorponok was spotted still in their case by TFfan1984prime who posted their image on the TFW2005 boards. Both of these are Walmart exclusives.

If you have found them, share your sightings with our community in the sightings section and on our boards in your region related thread.

Found Scorponok in Jackson TN. Bought 1, left the other one. They also have kingdom Tigatron and Sweep if anyone needs those.

Scorponok was 41 something... Bit pricey, but I liked the show accurate colors.

Thanks to a heads up from friend of the site mattysan, we have news that the Beast Wars reissue figures Scorponok and Tigatron have listings live on Walmart.com now! These listings show off the nice product images of the figures and can help you locate which stores nearby might have these 2 in stock.

In addition, as of this writing Tigatron is currently in stock at the site online, meaning you can buy him and ship him to you now! While Scorponok is currently not in stock, you can reserve the link and watch for him to return in stock and scoop him up as well.

With this news, are you ready to begin the hunt for the 2nd wave of Beast Wars reissues? Will you buy Tigatron online? Let us know in the comments section below!

These are nice, but I guess I'll be waiting until this holiday season, as the current prices are a bit rich for me. I was able to wait last year and wound up getting Optimus Primal and Megatron for less than $20 apiece, Cheetor for $8, and Rattrap for $3.
As much as I love the Retro appeal, patience is definitely a virtue in this instance.

Thanks to Preternia on Twitter, we have our first look at the next offering from the Beast Wars Reissue line: Cybershark!

Cybershark was the original Beast Wars shark, transforming from a wicked robot to hammerhead shark. His base tooling would go on to be the inspiration for Beast Wars II Hellscream and Beast Wars Neo Sharpedge, while he would also get a Transmetal II toy that would eventually end up repainted into fan favorite character Sky Byte in Robots in Disguise.

Preternia was only able to offer the stock images, but we anticipate that a link on Walmart will be coming soon. It is estimated that Cybershark will retail for approximately $22.99, in line with the deluxe Cheetor and Tigatron releases.

Check out the images below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

Of all the old Beast Wars toys to reissue, Cybershark seems like an odd choice. My best guess as to why is that maybe Hasbro are making a new Cybershark toy in the near future (or a new Sky-Byte with the intention to repaint it into Transmetal 2 Cybershark), and this reissue ensures that the "Maximal Cybershark" trademark is freshly minted and ready to use for a new toy. This probably isn't the case, but it kind of makes sense to me.

Maybe they just had the mold available.I'm super happy he's getting reissued, my Cybershark has been missing a fin ever since he was given to me second hand 25 years ago.

Was one of the Cybershark remolds used in a Universe set way back in the early/mid 2000s?

Yes. The Beast Wars Second retool as Hellscream was ever so slightly redecoed (as in a few paint apps were removed and a Decepticon symbol was stamped onto his chest) as Universe Overbite.

Super excited about this one, he's a figure I always wanted but waited too long to get at the time. My collection will be much more complete with the release of Rattrap, Tigatron and now Cybershark. Still need a few more '96 and '97 Basic and Deluxe figures to complete my collection so I hope they can keep this going, especially if they're now doing non-cartoon characters (please do Wolfang and Bonecrusher!).

He does have a slight retooling that TFWiki doesn't mention but is pretty obvious when they're side by side. Hasbro blunted Overbite's nose by sticking a ball on it.
