oh wow. this is really impressive. I might have to get this set. Honestly, I have been happy with Hasbros versions of the combiners but computron was pretty weak. New paint aps rarely make me want to shell out more money but a re-mold? Effort to make the design stand out? Yes please. I'm thinking I want this.

I like the new chest and new knee pads. LOVE THE NEW GUNS!! That has been my biggest disappointment with CW, non-unique weapons. To me, there are a few things that help sell a bot as being different from another: Head, gun, color scheme and character specific kibble. You can change vehicles, change transformation sequence, add new gimmicks, remove gimmicks. Just give me those things and you can sell it to me as a different character. Hasbro's version hit 3 of those 4 with most of CW, but this UW Scattershot hits all 4. The seekers get an exemption.
I was really happy that UW Cyclonus has a bright orange cannon.

It doesn't look too bad. I don't know much about the Technobots (I'll always associate the name Scattershot with the blue tank from Transformers: Cybertron), but the Unite Warriors set has got my interest. The grey prototype of Computron that we saw a while ago looks better than Superion, so I might try getting this set once its out.

What's to 'prototype'? It's Scattershot CW. I saw four of them in a store just yesterday. The only thing different about the UW version will be the paint job, which they didn't even show here....

Death, I know you are busy, but take a few seconds to look at the chest of both this prototype and the combiner chest. As well as the kneepads.

Man it is getting harder to choose between the UW or the CW version of the technobots, both look great. The Takara has proper head, and Rook as Nosecone but Hasbro has Scrounge and Streetwise as Lightspeed.

...And four new guns (two big and two small), and new Computron head.
I wish they didn't use Hasbro's wings and front end in alt mode, but they made enough additional changes that I'm fine with it.

I'm really excited for Takara Tomy's Unite Warriors Computron, though I'm disappointed that Hasbro has been going the easy route, keeping the parts count down, and/or just making a lesser product in general. It was one thing for years when Takara and Hasbro would come out with different paint schemes. It was fun to read people's arguments for or against paint schemes, but these toys with actual mold differences take the differences to a whole new level. The Constructicons and Devastator, Blast Off, Groove, Scattershot and Computron as a whole. This new philosophy is interesting and frustrating at the same time.

scattorshot looks cool. new chest.... new guns that can be used to revive the Minicon Gimmick from Armada.... as a stand a lone figure, id buy it.... but i would not want to fork out $400+ on something that i could spend about $70-80 total at Walmart for all the limbs plus scattorshot in which includes Nebraska taxes

He's not $400 for the Japanese version. He's approximately $135 from US online retailers (BBTS, TFsource) and will be even less expensive from international sources like AmiAmi, HLJ, etc. If I recall correctly, I'm getting Unite Warriors Bruticus for just a little over $100 shipped, which is pretty amazing.
MSRP on Hasbro's version is $26.99 for Scattershot and $17.99 for each of the 4 limbs which is $98.95. If you can get them a little cheaper somewhere, not to mention if you can actually find them all at retail, more power to those of you who can.

And just like that, 5 little remolded parts and a few new guns, and that is a proper Scattershot. Bah, why couldn't the combiner wars version have done that. It looks awesome

I agree. As for not mentioning the guns and head before, its because new guns wouldnt need to bring a toy back to prototype stage, unlike new molding. And we had seen the head before yesterday so I wanted to spotlight the least obvious things that death might not have seen.
And yeah, the front of the ship being long and thing kind of bums me out, but I am ok with this being a reinterpretation of G1, and thus a bit sleeker. cant wait to see Strafe, that vehicle looks amazing!
I dont think they will sell the limbs individually though, it will just be that giftset. Comes out to the same price, 99.99$, but you do get 2 additional toys and new feet. So yeah, as you said, its definitely frustrating that there are so many changes between the two. This Computron thing is taking it to unprecedented level. However, I must admit that it will make for THE coolest comparison gallery so far. Think about it, Lightspeed, Strafe and Nosecone are actually totally different toys from one set to the other, making each exclusive to their own market. Thats bonkers.
So yeah, Autobot Tap, turns out that Computron shipped from japan will come out to 100$ USD which is the same amount of money Hasbro's will cost (and you'll be taxed on hasbro's)

Additionally, It was my impression that CW Computron would only be sold as a gift set (ala the G2 sets and Devastator), I have heard no news that the CW Technobot deluxes and/or legends figure would have an individual release.
Still... the differences alone make me have no qualms about owning both the CW and UW versions. I only have to come up with the funds to do so.
. however... If the figures were being sold separately I would just get Legends Scrounge and just pair him up with UW Computron.
Additionally... UW-06 Galvatron is supposed to have an *April* release Tomorrow is April 1st. I know the month is 30 days, so we could get anything in the next 4 & 1/2 weeks. But I would think we should see some detailed Grand Galvatron packaging pics soon. Shouldn't we?

I wonder if Hasbro is seeing Takara's Computicon as we are and saying "Well s***." Or maybe they knew about it and didn't care?

Nice, Thank you. Last day huh? --Well cant fault them for that
Still we should be seeing some detailed pics soon.
Also, I was wondering if there was any way that a list of *confirmed* differences between CW & UW Computron could be pinned for easy reference. The perhaps a list of "speculative" changes under that, since we wont know more until we see in full detail all the UW figures individually.

They knew about it and didnt care. They had to know about it, both use the exact same Afterburner.
What happened is the same thing that happened with Devastator. They looked at what Takara had in mind and they said it had too many parts/changes and did their own lower cost version. Thats it.
What is fun though is that it proves that mold creation, human labour (design) and all that is far more expensive than plastic. They would much rather include 2 extra toys takara isnt offerring (2 redecos of course) than spend on financing different molds.

I'm NOT trying to bring up the topic of over-used molds of the CW line,
but overall, between CW and UW, I personally think there's a lot of not-to-be-missed stuff.
Other than having to be selective just because I don't want to spend $$$$ on figures,
the combiner teams have been pretty awesome imo.
And as I said in a previous post, we have been waiting most for these updated figures (and combiners) for roughly 10 YEARS.
Now, I have no idea, but I'm going to assume that it will be a while, maybe even a very long while before we see these characters again (especially the Technobots).
When we do see these combiner teams again, you would have to think there would be some sort of improvements to the figures, combining devices, etc.
I don't see this happening any time soon.
One thing I would like to see next time, is combiners where the characters who are the "leg-bots" are just slight larger (taller as a leg) to help with the overall proportions. For me, in combined mode, the arms are too long. I know, small issue. Just my opinion.
If the bot as a leg was an inch(+) taller, for me that would make a substantial difference. Yeah, some people would say "the knee joints are too high on the legs...", and "Now my Brawl can't be an arm without Brut looking like a gorilla".
But this would add some substantial height without ALL 5 figures having to be bigger (which yes, would be nice, but the $$$ constraints would probably never allow for that anyway).
Plus for me, an awesome looking combiner trumps the leg figures not working as arms.
I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I don't plan on changing any of the combiners' original limb formations.
Sorry to spin-out on a tangent.
