Thanks to TFYuki we have our first look at the new box art for the upcoming Unite Warriors Lynxmaster! The picture is very small, but it shows off Lynxmaster standing tall and proud with Sky Lynx flying above him and the others driving on the streets behind him. The image is very small, but you can check out the box art down below, and let us know what you think in the comments section.

wonderful art, a small nitpick though, instead of the "Extreme" almost 45 degree angle tilt, I wish the pic would have been more upright for consistency.

Apparently the package artwork was based on Yuki's rough sketch?

I haven't seen that anywhere in fiction, the closest was the description of what each limb did for the Japanese Super Scrambles.

Bruticus used Vortex's rotors to slash Shockwave's sentinels; and Onslaught's cannons to shoot Shockwave into space. Always thought that scene was very cool. Well, the entire episode. :)

And Menasor uses Motormaster's ionizer sword.

Well I mean, that's just using physical attributes and weapons carried over. Lynx Master is shown using what are essentially the Autobots' super powers.

What's the difference? In the UW comic those super powers are also derived from the weapons that they carry (the hands and feet.)

Box art from Yuki, really small pic though --

Well, there's a difference between Onslaught's cannons doing what cannons do or Vortex' rotors doing what rotors do, and Ratchet's 'gun' having magical super duper healing powers.

Also niiiiiiiice.

..and immobilizer guns doing what immobilizer guns do; hologram-guns doing what hologram-guns do.. ;)

The guns that they use for their special abilities become Lynxmaster's hands and feet. Which is where the special rays are shown to come from. So it's the same thing to me.. Lynxmaster using Ratchet's repair gun and Bruticus using Vortex's blades.

But the Immobilizer, Force Fields, Holograms, and Healing are all supernatural magic abilities that no real world weapons can actually do. Rotor blades and cannons are ordinary technology common to the natural world. If Vortex's rotor could generation a giant energy shield via spinning, that would be a magic power. But his rotor is instead an ordinary rotor. What kinds of unique magic powers can any of the Combaticons do and that Bruticus can, in turn, use as well?

Is it Lynx King or Lynx Master? Or is this just Seibertron's Tumblr making a mistake?

Mistake. D-Max originally wrote "Lynx King" by accident, but the box in the pic says "Lynxmaster".

Ah, but they aren't "really" magical or supernatural, in the contex of the fiction these special-abilities are technology, derived from the components that they carry on them.

Just as Onslaught's guns still work in Bruticus form, Wheeljack's gun still work in Lynxmaster mode.

It's a solid A-tier while Lynxmaster is like, C at best.
Sky Reign is S+.

I like the Lynxmaster name better than Lynx King. It just rolls off of the tongue better.

We have enough "masters." let's get us some Kings!

To Cybertronians, they're tech, but to us, they're magic. Those abilities are meant to impress us, to make the characters who use them more special and appealing. Bruticus spinning a rotor or shooting a cannon is no more impressive than Springer spinning his own rotor or anyone with a cannon shooting their cannon. But no one else can make holograms but Hound. No one else can immobilize but Wheeljack. No one else can insta-heal but Ratchet. These abilities are uncommon and extraordinary. Rotors and cannons are ubiquitous and ordinary.

Again, if Vortex's rotor had the unique ability of spinning to generate an energy shield, or if is spun to shoot lightning bolts, or spun to create tornadoes, THAT would count as a superpower since no ordinary rotor can do that. But spinning his rotor just to spin it for general melee purposes is not special. Nor is shooting a pair of normal cannons.

Magic is simply science we do not understand yet.

They understand though :D

Tell that to Shockwave and his sentinels. ;)

We aren't Shockwave and his Sentinels (who were never impressive anyway).

Besides, Defensor can do the exact same thing with his own rotor. That alone negates anything special about Bruticus's rotor.

Not to mention there's Baldigus, who can do everything (and more) that Bruticus can.

But it is special, it has 4 blades. While you may think that isnt all that impressive, it is special enough that a lot of people decided to get UW Bruticus.

And yes, that post was in jest.

The point is that what's "special" or not is your opinion. I remember the first time I watched this episode at a friend's house (he had at least three episodes I didn't.) And I was really impressed with Bruticus' tricks (thinking woha, he can do that in combined mode??) far more than with holograms. And I still find it pretty clever now.

As far as I'm concerned it's the same scenario. Motormaster's ionizer sword, too. Soundwave even referred to it as one of Menasor's "special powers."

But the entire original point of this discussion was how Lynxmaster gets use of all the extraordinary superpowers of his components. Then you brought up Bruticus's use of Vortex's rotor and Onslaught's cannons as a comparison, when literally anyone with a rotor or a cannon can do that too. Baldigus alone can literally do everything that Bruticus can do and even more.

agreed, plus, every time I see or hear the name "LynxMaster" the BotsMaster cartoon theme song starts playing in my head. I never really liked the cartoon, but the theme song is catchy ;)

And if UW-Superion switched hands and feet with Lynxmaster he could do it, too.
