Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Battle Core Optimus is out at North American retail

Posted by william-james88 Oct 10, 2015 at 3:07pm CDT 32,143 views
While the Combiner Wars fourth wave limbs and legends have been found at retail, the new torso (along with the improved Motormaster) has remained quite elusive. The Wave 4 Combiner Wars Voyager assortment has been found in Canada in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (you might laugh at the name but that was by far the easiest capital to remember back in canadian grade school). Both Downshift and welcometothedarksyde have spotted him and welcometothedarksyde has given us an image where we can see both Battle Core Optimus and the new and improved Motormaster which is reported to come with the ratchet hip fix. These should be on their way to the states if not there already so let your friends know in both the local sightings forum and the toy's sightings page.

Firstly, come on Madeus Prime, you are a seibertron veteran, I am surprised you chose this thread to write your remarks when we have a whole thread dedicated to Titans Return. It's best we continue ths discussion there so that those who do follow it can get your insight.

Secondly, I like the idea of heads sold individually since its a cheap option for kids to switch things around. I see this no different on a playability level for a new audience as the idea of releasing individual limbs instead of box sets for all combiners. Like that you can play the switch game and stay on a budget. And also, it really helps give you a spare head to the kids who lose though. Anyone collecting G1 toys knows how terribly rare the headmaster heads are (sine kids kept losing them) and I myself wish Hasbro would just rerelease a whole pack of substitute G1 heads so I wouldnt have to spend 50$ each time I want to complete a headmaster. Also, part of the transfomrers governing group at Hasbro constantly rejected the idea of bringing headmasters back because of the lost heads and the complaints that would ensue from parents. I believe the titan master class is what we have to thank for, for this project to actually come to fruition.

Aren't we getting Powermasters & Targetmasters too? how about spare ones of those?

To me Saskatoon will always be remembered as the place with the ridiculous name where Bret Hart defeated Ric Flair for the WWF belt on a house show.

Oh man! And I am from Montreal, the place where Bret Hart lost his title and left the WWF!

I ended up getting battle core prime on Amazon because I wasn't confident in finding him. Glad he's being sighted.

I really recommend getting this guy. He has all the pros and none of the cons that motor master and the first Optimus has. Proper ratchets in the legs, good connections for the arms in combiner mode and blackjack/rodimus fit in the chest without falling out. Last one might be just mine but I say he's a must have

They help 'fill out' the base mode, I like them, I'm getting the overkill (crashbash, right?) to replace skullcrunchers weird face, and really, its a nice ability: find a head you like, stick it on the body you like, G1 be d@mned, I look forward to seeing who else they release like this.

(and it's thought - on here - that their bodies will be released at a later date with different heads, so you can choose which you like best)

I think Crashbash is more analogous to Sqeezeplay's partner Lokos, depsite the Overkill vibe from his accessory vehicle.

On the subject of the CW Sky Lynx mold and the old discussion of what the mold could be redecoed/remolded into being, I've recently thought up two more ideas in addition to the suggestions of DOTM Hatchet and the Giant Purple Griffin.

1. Beast Wars Neo Magmasaur (Magmatron's combined Tri-Fuzor beast mode)

2. Car Robots Devil Saurer (RiD Galvatron's griffin mode)

I'll give you credit for creativity, but the difference is that the previous ideas didn't have humanoid robot modes just like Sky Lynx, but your suggestions do. I'd buy the Hatchet for sure, I'd be a little iffy about the griffin, but I'd definitely not buy a Magmatron or RID Galvatron that didn't have proper bot modes and changing the combiner head doesn't count. Besides, it's not like Hasbro has repainted every Voyager they've made (BotCon doesn't count, those are afterthoughts).

They're more likely to repaint him into Trypticon if anything, at least he was a ship in the games and it's not like Hasbro has any problem giving us four legged Trypticons.

Devil Gigatron has his Devil Jet mode that Sky Lynx's shuttle mode could be modded into (even uses the same cockpit face as Devil Saurer).

As for Magmasaur, the shuttle mode could be a pre-Earth Cybertronian vehicle mode.

For both, the combiner torso mode could serve to homage each's respective robot mode (each given a new headsculpt, though).

Though notice that I didn't use the names of either's robot mode (Magmatron and Devil Gigatron) and instead referred to them by their particular quadrupedal winged beast modes' names (Magmasaur and Devil Saurer).

To clarify a little more of what I meant, I was thinking along the lines of the Galvatronus toy. These wouldn't be toys of "Magmatron" or "Devil Gigatron" proper, but rather would be toys of "Devil Jet-to-Devil Saurer" and "Cybertronian altmode to Magmasaur", with bonus combiner torso modes that pay homage to the robot modes of Magmatron and Devil Gigatron, respecitvely, much like how the Galvatronus isn't Galvatron proper, but is instead a toy of "Cyclonus jet mode to Cyclonus robot mode" with a bonus combiner torso mode that pays homage to the robot mode of Galvatron.

In short, these would be more something along the lines of "Magmatronus" or "Devil Gigatronus", with the difference here being that the non-combiner-modes would have a closer connection to the identity of the torso mode than Cyclonus's two modes have to the Galvatronus torso mode.

Hope that make sense.

So, I decided to double-dip to get the Motormaster with the fixed hip ratchets. I bought the set of Battle Core OP and Motormaster from BBTS. I can confirm that my new Motormaster has the fixed hips. I think some were looking for the embossed lot number on the back of the box near the bottom. This is what my Motormaster had:

52231

I hope that helps anyone looking for the big guy with the right hip ratchets. :D

The Art of Prime book confirmed that the consciousness of the warship in that episode was meant to homage Trypticon's having become the Nemesis.

C'mon, man, it's just an homage, enjoy it, it's not like hasbro has ever said, this is a be-all-end-all figure, just enjoy the ride.

That being said, I don't think sky lynx is getting a repaint, b/c titan wars is starting up right after, and case assortments are already filled out: onlsaught, scattershot; sky lynx, demolisher (if he is indeed legit), and we've seen from the presentation that the titan wars voyager assortment is filled out for wave 1 (of tw)/wave 3 of next year: galvatron, not-astro train. So unless he is a much later release, we might not be getting one Image

But it's okay, I guess, I'm sure hasbro would've just ruined it by making it an :BOT: or something dumb >:oP

Sky Lynx is badass and looking more badass everytime a picture is released. I personally love the idea of making him a combiner (though it does nothing for his ego) :BOT:

But Sky Lynx is too gorgeous and too proud to ever share a mold with a lesser being :BOT:
