It's odd because as its generally accepted that SS86 was borne simply out of not having enough slots to fit everything in the annual Generations Mainline. Still while I thought some Siege, and certainly ER and Kingdom releases (of characters that appeared in the 86 Movie) were "good enough" stand ins for SS86, it seems that certainly isn't the case (SS86 Ironhide for example).
However, while we may get things like a "clean deco" Siege Springer in SS86. I cant see Hasbro doing another Galvatron (especially with the clean version now in Legacy), or another Rodimus or Cyclonus, the Kingdom Versions were for all intents and purposes SS86.
I know this is hypothetical talk, but I do hope a CC Prime ends up being part of the SS86 subline.
I’m so much more likely to buy it if it’s decently screen accurate and free of any extra mainline gimmick of that time, as well as the nasty Siege greebling & battle damage paint apps. I’m so glad that’s all being left in the past, & will never be a part of SS86.
This also makes me glad I never opened my NF Prime; he and Soundwave both look great in that packaging.
The only drawback for me with a CC OP will be the fact that I won’t display the trailer; it will most likely stay packed away.
I’m also glad I never went for that Amazon exclusive 2 pack to get ER Ratchet.
I will agree there’s really no reason for a new Galvatron (although I still wish his color was different), Rodimus, or Cyclonus.
Even for Kup and Blurr who imo were shortchanged with their face sculpts, I don’t see how a retool, or any change could be enough of an improvement to get me to buy another version.
The rest of those two really is all good enough for me.
I would’ve loved for the seekers, Soundwave, Astrotrain, & Shockwave to have joined Ironhide in the SS86 treatment, but knowing that’s not going to happen in 2024, I’ll be done collecting and gone-zo by the time it ever would.
