We thank Kanrabat for letting us know that both the Missing Link Arcees are up for preorder. One is in the original prototype colours and the other one is in animation colours. Prices are around the $100 mark for American retailers and around $75 USD in Japan, though shipping (and possible tariffs) may offset the savings. The preorders also give us lots of official images of both.

Also, she seem to have the slimmest backpack of any transformable "G1" style Arcees that came out so far. That's quite the tour de force!

As for the price, sure she's expensive, but at least at Hobby Search / AmiAmi, the prices are acceptable and the shipping options are good. I preordered both the Proto and the Classic. Fingers crossed for no custom fees once the time come.

It would be nice to get a good chug arcee one of these years. I guess the bumblebee movie is the best we're going to get unless newage upscales theirs...

I'm still surprised that no "super nerd" found out what's up with the "Texaco" symbols so far.

Yeah, same here. $15 -$25 MAYBE for the novelty of it, but honestly it's a pretty ugly figure compared to other ones out there.

There are no other ones out there if you're going for the G1 toy aesthetic. For anyone that collects vintage G1 figures this one is some serious unfinished business.

Maybe he meant "3rd party," but I found them to be quite redundant. That TRUE G1 Arcee is something original.
Also, I do hope that Prototype G1 Unicron will have the ML treatment. Even if I have to pay Titan prices for it.

Actually, I mean Arcee's in general. I still have most of my G1 figures from the 80's and my kids will probably bury me with them, but to me, it's like preferring an AMC Gremlin over a Bugatti Veyron because you like the hubcaps. I do understand that completionist need, though. I love my Megatron, but as a figure, ol' Triggerdick is wonky as all hell and stays in gun mode. I would not have even bothered with it if it was a modern production of the original at the price they'd probably be asking. If you could get your hands on the ACTUAL Arcee prototype, now THAT would be a definite score.
Hey, you're into what you're into. No judgements.

In giving ML Toy version Bumble & Cliff articulated legs, the ankle circular joint was prone to break when transforming or trying articulated poses.

Glad I've been careful with mine. No stressing from the looks of it but when I first transformed them I thought "oh yeah, that's a problem spot!"

Some suggested using shock oil to lubricate the joint & minimise the risk. In any case, mine is staying in its box.

It's funny you bring this up. Over in Japan, it's actually not very common for toys of villains to get released in children's toylines. When Transformers was first released in Japan, it was actually quite startling to them how many bad-guy toys there were in the range. Oftentimes, Japanese-original toylines will either release only a small few or even zero bad-guy toys at all, because it's the heroes that Japan wants kids to get into and admire, promoting them as good role models so that kids can grow up to become respectable and productive members of society. Bad guys are a bad influence, so they get little to no toys.megatran wrote:Where are the Destrons, Takara?
In the case of Missing Link, since it is a Transformers line, it's still in its infancy as a line, so starting off with a bunch of good guy toys is a much safer bet for the line to succeed in Japan. Bad guy toys may still come, but figuring out ways to give articulation to a lot of those old Diaclone and Micro Change toys is pretty tricky. A good starting point for the villains would be Soundwave, since his G1 toy already had some good articulation, so I'd expect to see him released first. What's stopping his release, however, may be his cassette minions, as figuring out how to increase their articulation may be the real difficulty and you just know fans would complain if Soundwave didn't come with at least one of his cassettes.

so very true. I mentioned this in my t-spark exkaiser review. That series has tons of badguys based on existing transformers molds that never got made into toys for that very reason. (like the dinobots)

Plus, shipping is super expensive.
Hobby Search is much more reasonable.
Sunstreaker is still available.

I grabbed them from a third party where Amazon fulfills it, and they ended up being pretty much exactly the same price they would have been on HLJ. If those are also gone now, then sure, may not be the best choice any longer.chuckdawg1999 wrote:Amazon Japan only has stock from third party retailers right now.
Varies by item. If Amazon themselves is the seller, or if it's a third party seller where Amazon fulfills, things usually do, but not always. I don't have any idea what the criteria is.megatran wrote:ScottyP wrote:Heads up if anyone was waiting on HLJ to process their preorder for Sunstreaker and Cordon - they don't even have them yet. Funny enough one of the big criteria is food, so any variation of a candy kit, even a sealed case won't be available to ship. If it does it'll get stopped from leaving the country.
