To make it look like the comic more money would have to be spent. As it is, and always has been, business is the answer. Increasing the budget may of only lead to a small increase in sales, probably not enough to justify the increase on spending to make her fit with people's ideal woman image.

There also might be the chance that the character model for the comics was designed after the toy was. Dunno what goes on behind the scenes at the comics as well as I'm probably expected to, but I know it's happened on the TV shows.

Let's hope there will be a "model 2" down the line. Even if it take years.

And what do you define as "look female"?

Let's see.

Less square/broad shoulders, wider hips, more pronounced thighs, generally curvier/softer body shape...or, you know, HOW THEY APPEARED IN THE GODDAMN COMIC.

The comic advertises/represents the toy, the toy came first, not the other way around. Masterpiece toys are the exception, in these cases the toy tries as hard as possible to look like the media. Most of the time it is the media that works to look like the toy. The media can and does embellish or look different from the toy. G1 Cartoon Optimus sure looked a lot better than his toy (though the toy was pretty nice). Transformers Prime and CW Prime media both look better than their toy counter parts. Comic Megatron looks better than toy Megatron.

I contend that they are in armored suits, and that makes sense. But I also agree with (and appreciate) all of the others that are saying that women have many different shapes and sizes, and that female Transformers don’t need to look like a model. Only a very small percent of women look like models. Just as only a very small percent of men look like NFL players or soccer players or male models.

I appreciate Hasbro creating toys that look like different body types and don’t only look like models. Hasbro will make model-like Transformers and that is fine, let’s not hate when they make regular looking (male or female) Transformers. I think the most important idea is that the goal should be acceptance of diversity and our media representing that idea rather than perpetuating a stereotype that only fits a very small portion of the population.

To end the argument once and for all. To appear FEMALE, you don't need to look like a sexy model.

Look at the averagiest of the average woman. Barrel shape, fat, muscular... I'll let you guess what they all have in common.

At first glance, they indeniably look female.
It's basic instinct. There's basic clues that your mind KNOW when you look at a female. It's not a matter of "model cliché". It's a matter of basic biology. Why bother calling something "female" when it dosent look the part?

Was the appearance of Strika as a buffed up truck/tank whatchamacallit also as controversial? I know we are talking about Victorion but I feel it is also applicable.

Given that, though I had wished Hasbro would invest in new molds for a more "feminine" appearance ( Bandai's Machine Robo series had it right on target with their Power Core Combiners like product with a rescue vehicle as the torso and quadruplet motorcycles as limbs. The limb vehicles were molded like nurses, all in pink up to the nurses' cap to fit the "stereotype but hey Bandai didn't care)......all boils down to the buttom line.......Victorion isn't worth the risk of commiting to new molds with the exception of the heads and a few weapons.

Heck, we don't even have Blastoff as a shuttle or Vortex as a Hin-D.Not to mention we might hear all sorts of protests if we DO get limbbots having an hour glass shape torso perpetrating the sexy stereotype and causing "great anguish" to the morbidly obese segment of the population......ain't the grievance industry grand?

These women LOVE to complain when the "perfect female" is used in advertisemnt and such... The irony is, each time marketeers tried to please them with an "average is beautiful" campain, said campain failed miserably. Same thing with movies and games. Who sell more? A perfect looking hero/heroine, or just an average shmoe?

In fantasyland, and even in marketing, we don't want the dreadful day-to-day life. Whe we see a hero, we want to BE that hero or we want to mate with him/her. You look at an average bozo in the mirror everyday. When you dream, you dream yourself to be ideal, not average. And in your fantasies, who you want to do it with? Something unremarkable, or something special and perfect?

Social Justice Warriors have nice politically correct intentions to want to replace fantasy by realism in entertainment and marketing media. The only thing they refuse to understand is they cannot overwrite millions of years of evolution in human nature.

Victorion is seen to be $100  Considering I haven't paid more than $70 for a complete combiner, this feels like highway robbery, especially with the color scheme as it stands right now. I know there are a lot of new parts, the sword and limbs, but the additional remolding shouldn't really have jacked the price up that much, unless hasbro wants to cover their loss and are not planning on using any of the 'female parts' again; still, seems like a bit much to me.

This... is a touchy subject, given the examples you gave.

While you are right on the money with Victorion and G1 Optimus having had their toy designs created first, with their fiction designs coming second and being modeled after their toy designs, more recent years have seen a lot more of the opposite cases happen with toy designs coming second, being modeled after fiction designs. Most of these kinda of cases that occurred in mainstream format were for all the Movie lines, Animated, Prime, RID 2015, certain Generations, and certain Rescue Bots. For the examples you listed, the TF: Prime designs were show first, toys second, Combiner Wars were mostly toys first, comic second, and Megatron's Leader class toy belongs to neither case since its design is unrelated to his comic body's design.

Each combiner is made of up a legends class at $10, four deluxe class at between $15-17 a piece and a voyager class at $25. Even at the lowest price for a deluxe it comes to $95 for the whole set. So I have no idea what you're complaining about...

I was wondering that, there might be a pic in the galleries of the price on them; even so, $100 for a neon repaint is just wrong. I was hoping hasbro might take this opportunity to undercut the cost of a whole combiner since they will share a single box, maybe set the price at, say $60-70; figured it wouldn't end up like that though. I will say that if cw ends and deluxe prices don't drop, I am done with transformers, I refuse to pay nigh on $20 for deluxes; target and wal mart might be competing with prices now, but they are dangerously close to that point :-x

Okay well even at your 15% off then Victorian goes down at $85 which is still only $5 more than a regular combiner.

There's also the premium packaging to take into account for the three combiner giftsets (Victorion, G2 Superion, G2 Menasor) each being $99.99.

Do we have an estimated price for these boxsets? I know there's the ($15x4)+$25=$85 estimate, do we know for sure?

Victorion is seen to be $100  Considering I haven't paid more than $70 for a complete combiner, this feels like highway robbery, especially with the color scheme as it stands right now. I know there are a lot of new parts, the sword and limbs, but the additional remolding shouldn't really have jacked the price up that much, unless hasbro wants to cover their loss and are not planning on using any of the 'female parts' again; still, seems like a bit much to me.

Um, OUCH! Yeah, no. Is that gonna translate to the G2 pairs?

Each combiner is made of up a legends class at $10, four deluxe class at between $15-17 a piece and a voyager class at $25. Even at the lowest price for a deluxe it comes to $95 for the whole set. So I have no idea what you're complaining about...

I spaced the Legends figure (see my math) so yeah, the 95 is closer. I was thinking the jump from 85 to the estimated 100 but I was kinda hoping Boxsets would be "value priced" and knowing that the odds of this being carried in a store is Toys R Us, and that's typically an extr $15

hmmm ... $25AUD x 4 + $50AUD ... $150AUD.

And that's with things on special, normally we'd be looking at $30AUD x 4 + $60AUD = $180AUD

And here we go at how the actual price of a TT UW set cost almost the same as the domestic CW teams (shipping aside of course)

Old HB is gonna milk this "guacamole" cocktail for all her worth......and there's nothing we can do about it  unless she goes for a price drop saleif she tanks.
