GI Joe Fans Unite-- 25th Anniversary Fig Talk and More!

Do you collect other toys besides Transformers? Maybe you've got a Masters of the Universe collection you'd like to show off, or maybe you like Thundercats, Voltron, G.I.Joe, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Wrestling, or any of the various comic book toy lines. Please keep the discussions here to non-Transformers toy lines.

Sorry I did not post any pics of the new wave. Hopefully you guys have started to find them.

I'm just so busy lately, no time.

From what I have seen of these movie toys, and my dislike of movie toys in general, I think I will pass on almost everyone of these unless they are really cool.

Hopefully, I will need to eat my words.

Yesterday I had a good day of Joe Hunting. Unfortunately I had to go out of town to find all the stuff since my city is clogged with revisions.
I found Resolute Cobra Trooper, 2 Cobra Eels, a Bazooka Trooper, a Para-Viper, Beachhead and Main/dataframe 2 pack, "Arise, Serpentor, Arise" entertainment pack, and I finally bought the Conquest X-30.
I also came across Torch, but he's just too ugly to buy and I already have the one from the comic pack and I picked up a Zartan the other day.
I was lucky enough that Dusty has his webgear with him. Hopefully I can find the "Pyramid of Darkness" and "Best of" sets so I can complete my M.A.S.S. Device.

I agree on the movie toys. I've only seen the Rock Sled(I think that's what Snowjob's vehicle is called), Baroness, and Breaker but I don't like them. Hopefully when we see more they will look better.

Lately, I’ve had no luck when it comes to toy hunts. No Cyclonus, no Resolute, (or even wave eleven), no nothing.

Oh well, I have been lucky enough to snag some wave ten leftovers and get my Doc, so I guess it’s not too bad. Speaking of Doc, mine came with a small crack in the shoulder joint, which kind of pissed me off. The quality on the figure wasn’t all that great, his joints were tight, and the paint applications looked okay, but there was some noticeable plastic excess, and that crack. The crack is barely noticeable, so I guess I’m just happy to have him at all.

About the movie toys, I like them. I probably won't be using them as who they're supposed to be though, similar to what I do with a lot of the nineties joes. I'll probably use the Vipers as some sort of different Iron Grenadier.

Hey guys does anyone remember the wave TF Duke and Wraith are in? Who else was in it with them. Since I'm trying to cull the herd at BBTS and figure I might try (probably in vain) to get some of the single card waves.

Wave Ten/2008 Wave 6. Also in the wave is Mutt & Junkyard, Cobra Bazooka Trooper, Para-Viper, and Croc Master.

Does anyone know when the wave 12/2008 wave 8 is hitting retail?

Well as I've mentioned I've seen Wraith and Duke at Khols. I did see Mutt and Junkyard there before to but when I went on Sunday the store looked picked over. Wonder if I'll have any luck finding the troop builders.

TRU has them too.

I have two black headed Destro variants MISP for variant collectors who must have them...

Still look for wraith and the 2nd release of zartan but I can't wait until I get my resolute figures it should be any day now if the weather allows the ups guys to get through. Also on a transformers note got both Cyclonus and Hound both great figures with no quality control issue.

Hmm. Depending on how quickly you need to get rid of them and for how much we may be doing business soon. Today was a good day for me. I got the wave 6 comic packs and saw that TRU had, surprisingly, a ton of the vehicles in. By the by be careful of the Target ultimate sets I saw one today that had the display cracked open and it looked like some stuff was missing.

Well I have seen the first two resolute comic two packs and I have to say destro is butt ugly. I'm not sure who the second figure that comes with him is. But here is a link to both of them thanks to G.I. Joe collector's club website: http://gijoeclub.com/2009comic01.cfm and http://gijoeclub.com/2009comic02.cfm

That would be SWAT team and Joe member Shockwave, and it looks like this either a really early model or HASBRO lost Shockwave again (Code Name: Shockblast :? ).

The second pack, Tunnel Rat is alright, but in this case, and this is one of the few, I am not impressed with the 25th version, and will stick with the vintage. The head, neck, and face look crappy.

I liked what I saw of him before, so I will certainly give this set a try, but yeah his neck piece looks weird too. In fact, his whole design seems... odd.

Does he still look like Larry Hama? By the by I forgot to mention that there is a new 12" Joe set out much like the sigma one from a few years ago. I even think it's the same characters. I only looked briefly but it seems that these figures are based off the old 12" and not the new molds. Anybody know anything about them? Also be on guard for the Target sets. I saw one yesterday that had a hole in the clear plastic and looked picked over. One of the troopers was missing his helmet.

I will get that one set just for Shockwave.
And even though TR's head looks short I am going to get that pack as well.

It isn't so much destro head as it is his feet what did hasbro do to them also the costume doesn't help much either. The reason I might get the storm shadow tunnel rat two pack is because I really like this version of storm shadow.

Well I just got back from a little JOE hunt and to my surprise, I found the newer wave figs in stock.

I got the Resolute CC, Duke, and Cobra Trooper. And I also got Flamethrower. I know his coloring sucks but it's another JOE to my team. My Wal Mart also has the new comic 2 packs. Still nothing on the newest vehicles and DVD sets but I would imagine they're coming soon.

His feet look to have the arctic climbing gear attachments that Arctic Snake Eyes came with. For what reason a pilot would want to be wearing those, I am not sure.

His coloring sucks? It is the same as the vintage Blowtorch colors.. Or did you collect the original Joes in the 80's?

What? I can't have my own opinion on something?

I come to this thread to talk about JOE figs, post my findings, and give my opinion. I just don't like the colorscheme. That's it. That's what I think. Yes it is like the original, but the yellow and reds are the only things I don't like about his fig. I never really owned Blowtorch as a kid but then again, there were a bunch of TF's I didn't own either. I was one of the crowd getting a little bit of everything during those days. I came along late with JOE figs during the 80's and JOES were not the only things I was getting.

Calm down, calm down... CB's just asking if the colors are what you remember from childhood, he's not attacking your opinion on the fact that they are Ronald McDonaldy, and garish, and certainly are very bright for a military toy. But that was before the Eco joes.

Anyway, do not take it the wrong way, we know the yellow and red of him is outrageously bright, and will not be liked by all.

Good finds BTW. And of course, names can be confusing. There are so many of them. In fact in that wave alone, you have Torch, and Blowtorch. :D And yes, I am being serious and giving you credit, and agreeing with you.

I looked at the picture of destro again today maybe he is supposed to be in Arctic weather gear, because it looks like he has a flamethrower attached to one of his arms.
