Just like the face, there were multiple versions of the color palette. The movie had both. The cartoon was primarily the yellow-orange & blue-grey.

Can someone show me where in the movie Unicron was ever yellow? I've been watching this cartoon for the past 33 years and I swear to Primus I don't ever remember a yellow Unicron.

I didn't say yellow - it's yellow-orange. It's especially prominent when he's on Cybertron. Notice the saturated orange, which is what people assume Unicron is all the time, is merely the shaded segments of his body. Not his actual color.

okok so I hear a lot of things in my head but people are just lining things up man the heat’s still on. The extra time has calmed things down a hair compared to being in the last three days (!!!) but people are still pumped. Not even the new MP Optimus can distract for long :lol:

You know as much as Unicron scared the crap out of me as a kid in the very first scene of the Transformers: The Movie it had to be when he meets Megatron the first time that I was like holy mother, we’re on a whole new level.

Because Megatron had just offed Prime and lived. We all knew Megatron was evil but after Ironhide, then Prime, brrr, coldness defined.

Then we formally meet Unicron, and he just owns Megatron. Recreates Transformers with a whim. It was just mind blowing moment after mind blowing moment. For me every scene in that movie brought levity and mortality to these already awesome characters.

And without Unicron none of it would have happened. He’s the big evil lynchpin that like it or love it or hate it kickstarted a whole new era. Being in what feels like a whole new era now it really is a perspective that brings a smile to my face. 30 years ago I would have said Unicron bringing a smile to my face? You’re nuts! Too funny.

This is a cartoon accurate Unicron. It has a full planet mode (and beard, by default) with no backpack and real calves. It also doesn't weigh the equivalent of a car tyre and potentially doesn't cost what some people would pay in a months rent??

So basically, what previous pages have said was either impossible or would be a severe downgrade on what HasLab are making... >:oP

To give HasTak their due, their Unicron does do the transformation a bit more faithfully (though a lot of Unicron's transformation on screen was hidden by closeups of those sexy shifting panels so we never actually saw how he truly transformed). But overall, yeah, I think Zeta's is better.

Like I say though, I still hope they both get made, options are always good after all.

Unless the transformation is automated, to me it doesn't really matter. Dinobot didn't transform by opening up like a venus flytrap, in the show after all. How it looks in Bot and Alt Mode is where it counts.

Someone did give a play by play of how he transforms in the Movie... Just saying >:oP

Watching further into the 3P video, they open up his chest and the orb of screens is right there. I think I mentioned that as a feature several pages ago, but someone actually did it! :BOWDOWN:

It's tiny. Roughly the same size as Armada Unicron.

HasLab Unicron (or even any official Titan class figures) can step on it like Mario on a Goomba.

Scale is completely irrelevant to Unicron. It is just logical common sense. Also in this case, Bigger simply highlights inferior design decisions.

Hardly "tiny". Still pretty huge, bigger than a CW combiner from the looks of it. And to be honest, the main thing that puts me off HasLab Unicron is that he seems to be banking on being big and not much else. I get that they wanted him to be a BIG BOI but honestly I don't have that kind of space.

Though I'm sticking with my OG Armada Unicron. I still love that beautiful boy.

I would argue that 3P products by definition can't be definitive. I would classify definitive as a 1st party product. A-#1, not bronze medal #3. You could argue cost, engineering, size all day long, but in the end you'll have something that is not Unicron. Nowhere on it's box, literature, or said robotic person will it say Unicron or be official in any way. It may say "Chaos" or "Bringer" or "Uni" in some fashion, but we all know we're supposed to assume this is actually Unicron when it isn't.

He's a posing poser.'Pretender' to the throne if you will. A Duocron at the most. And not a coincidence they're making it right now I mean they're riding Has Tak's coat tails so obviously it's a little oogy.

This guy will conquer your desk, maybe. Your display shelf? Ok, anything's possible.

A superior design makes something a superior product, regardless of silly branding on the box. For pages, I championed the notion that the planet kibble of the HasLab mold could have been better concealed if they really wanted to. This 3p figure demonstrates exactly what I meant.
The fact is, if a lone 3P studio could do it HasTak definitely could. They just chose not to. Just like with MP-45, the current ethos is that a collector figure only needs to look good from the front. As Black Hat said, the only two repeated selling points of the HasLab figure are the weight and the size. It has nothing else remarkable going for it. This 3P figure will even have electronics that the HasLab one won't.

An over-sized Beach ball won't conquer anyone's collection if it is too big to go anywhere other than the floor.

Normally I couldn't care less about 3P, but if they make a better overall product, that is where my money goes. Reprolabels will fill in the blanks, I'm sure.

Wouldn't it be funny if this was the straw that broke the camels back and made hasbro go after the 3p like the leeches they are (I'm all for competition but that only works if 3p made their own giant robot franchise with unique character designs... I'd be all over that)

I'm also agreeing with Stargrave here, definitive belongs to the one that can legally be called Unicron. Now you may unofficially say the zeta toys one is definitive to you as that's your perogative, but for me, official is the only way forward.

Aesthetically, 'definitive' is in the design. Brand loyalty is all well and good but, in this instance, HasLab are set to release a second best in design. One they purposely chose. They could have made this Zeta Toys edition themselves, quite easily. They didn't. Why MP-45 and HasLab look the way they do from the back is a conscious choice and one some are oblivious to, as long as Unicron is "HUGE"...

The kicker also being that Zeta aren't fleecing their own fanbase to make this one either.
