I think that this might be part of the problem. It certainly is for me. I can respect that someone else might get jazzed for Unicron, but I've never found him to be that compelling a character or interesting a toy. He's not that prominent in the Transformers lore and is pretty much regulated to being a plot device. A nameless faceless thing could easily replace Unicorn in most of his appearances.

What I am saying is that while the Unicron character is definitely BIG.. he lacks character, personality, or anything interesting to define him.

The toy has issues as well. Again it's BIG, but doesn't really do anything interesting. It turns into a BIG ball. That can be displayed... as a ball. Or a robot. It looks cool. I'll give it that. But it's not $600 dollars cool.

I was just on the Pulse Unicron page and the backing has jumped to almost 6800. That's a 1000 jump since this morning. Methinks an update from some of the etailers just got tallied. Only 1200 more to go in just over 5 days.

As for Unicron's popularity ... we're talking about a $600 US toy. I think Unicron is plenty popular, but I think that price point and size is going to be a real tough pill for most to swallow for just ONE figure.

To show his popularity - look how many versions of Armada Unicron have been made! They wouldn't keep redoing that thing if it didn't sell. It just might be too good. Most versions are good enough to fill the Unicron spot, but not terrible enough to replace with a better mould.

Gotta say, though, as much as I like the Armada Unicron mould I am 100% on board for this still. I was getting down looking at those stagnant numbers. But I want this guy .... somewhere. I've got two years to find a place for it! If it gets backed.

Our engineers retooled the hands of the Lord of Chaos from 6 points to 15 points. We checked the math, that's a lot of articulation.

ALSO! We’ve added additional UNICRON supporters from around the globe that have backed the project through Hasbro affiliated retailers to our total tally, bringing us even closer to the 8,000 backer goal. Only a few more days left to make this dream a reality!

I actually think it's a done deal, they just aren't revealing it. My suspicion was that the REAL number to make this a reality was 6,000 but they were trying to aim for 8,000. As of now, they are close to 7,000.

The new hands are appreciated. It was never a make or break thing for me, but my 3rd party Predaking shouldn't have better hands than this Unicron.

Well, they did add a little over a thousand backers since last night, so yeah.

I had been doing this to see when the break point was until people started getting all testy about how I was doing it.

What's the point of exclusivity again? Digital have no value because it's going to be torrented just a few hours after it become available.

Print as actual physical comics that would be sent only to the backers as a bonus exclusive collector item and now we're talking.

Another suggestion to Hasbro:

Want to put Unicron over the top, easy? Make a miniature Grimlock figure that would attach to Unicron's butt so he could...well, you know!
