Authorities also said they are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths of Benoit, his wife and their 7-year-old son. Steroid abuse has been linked to depression, paranoia, and aggressive behavior or angry outbursts known as "roid rage."
"We don't know yet. That's one of the things we'll be looking at," said Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard. He said test results may not be back for weeks.
Nancy Benoit filed for a divorce in May 2003, saying their three-year union was irrevocably broken and alleging "cruel treatment." But she later dropped the complaint, as well as a request for a restraining order in which she charged that Benoit had threatened her and had broken furniture in their home.
In the divorce filing, she said Benoit made more than $500,000 a year as a professional wrestler and asked for permanent custody of Daniel and child support. In his response, Benoit sought joint custody.

The press conference officially ruled authorities’ findings as a double murder-suicide from within the home.
WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday.

I just read this on Aol's news page. It's a real shame. And almost just as tragic is what it does to his memory. I watched Raw last night and all those guys, and Stephenie McMahon too, talked about what a great guy who was a great friend and loved his family that Beniot was. But this news just blows up in the face of all those stories.
They also said that the possible use of Steriods (known as "'Roid Rage") is being investigated. Knowing that Vince McMahon was on trial many years ago for steriod distribution and seeing how many of his wrestlers have died tragically young, including Eddie Guerrerro unexpectadly, (And let's not forget Brian Pilman), I would almost have to assume that Steroids was a factor.
Especially if Beniot was normally as good of a friend and familly man as the WWE wrestlers etc had said.
This must be especailly hard on Chavo Guerrerro. Knowing what he went through with Eddie, and Beniot being the guy he confided in the most as they went through it together, and now Beniot being gone.
I really am concerned for Chavo. I could tell from his interview he's not in a very good state of mind after all this devastation. All we can do is pray for him and the familys, like Chris' other 2 kids.
Brett Hart's family is taking this hard as well.
But I seriously think the governments needs to really look into the WWE's use of Steriods. There has to be a way they can protect these wrestlers and their families. Screw the Double Jeopardy rule. This is life and death here and there has to be a way. The circumstantial evidence is too much to deny and too much to look the other way.

It was a beautiful piece and treated with class. The superstar's were all devastated. Cena wished he could have talked to Benoit more personally. Regal was at a loss for words. Edge and Chavo's stories had me break down into tears. It was gutwrenching then and now..in the wake of the horrible truth...I don't know..Burn wrote:Dynamax wrote:Yet it was aired again on TV just after the Press conference here.Burn wrote:And it looks like the international market will probably have a repeat of Raw as they're not distributing the tribute show to the international market.
They probably weren't able to pull it in time. But markets like Australia and England will no doubt miss out.
So ... is it worth downloading or should I spare myself the pain?

They all talked about....how much...he loved his family....
Damn it all. Why did this have to happen?

1. The authorities stated that all drugs found in the house were believed to be legal prescriptions.
2. Steroids were not, and could not, be related to the cause of death (asphyxiation). Authorities had no factual basis to speculate as to Benoit’s state of mind, and rightly did not do so.
That's odd.. I read a few pages back that they were ILLegal prescriptions. And then...Investigators found prescription anabolic steroids in the house and want to know whether the muscle man was unhinged by the drugs, which can cause paranoia, depression and explosive outbursts known as “roid rage.”

And of coarse the WWE is going to cover their behinds. They always have. Especially when PR is so important to the product that you put out like in Entertaimnet, which is what they sell.
And if you look at history, and the hundreds of tragic wrestler deaths, the facts are there that suggest the WWE does have a history of Steriods. Especially when McMahon was on trial before for Steriods.
Switching away from the steriods discussion, I can only imagine what Brett Hart must be thinking after all that he has went through with the WWE. I mean his famous fued with McMahon and more importantly, what happened to his Brother Owen. I bet this is making him have to relive that horrible experience all over again. Owen died in action due to a terrible fall from a WWE cable, but he was taken from Brett and all of us far too young, just the same. And let's not forget about his brother-in-law Davy Boy Smith too.
Death is a fact of life. We'll all die sometime. And it's not guarunteed that it will be when we're old either. Nothing is garunteed and we are only mortal humans.
It's just so sad when it hits you with a sucker punch to the gut. Especially under these circumstances under investigation.
