I still prefer my hasbro version
Yeah, hasbro's was way better where it counted, but the painted details of tt's vehicle mode are still really nice
Agreed, certain paint aspects look better, but overall Hasbros still looks better
Yeah, I'm glad hasbro painted all the sculpted detail they bothered to include (and quite nicely I might add)
That's why this Defensor is a let down to me. all that sculpted detail is not painted whereas the hasbro one is and it looks really good too
Yep, they were extremely lazy in the decision to go 'lazy G1 animation' for his deco

SixWing? It would make sense as a repaint as the combined form looks like the current Superion. And this time, it really has a Heli in the team though lacking a "space shuttle" as a 6th member.
maybe remold Superion's head with a star as his crest.

Not lazy I believe. If you read previous blurbs from TT, they'd rather homage their products to the original G1 as their cutomers have more "attachment" to G1. Sure it kinda sucks that a somewhat more expensive regional exclusive lacks ssome of the paint apps which have been re applied to other parts of the figure.
Sort of like MP-10, the TT version had paint apps not found in the Hb one and vice-versa.

Yeah, it looks cool, but I would also love to get one that was more like the G1 version (except, this time with proper articulation) he's such a cool figure

Considering how much Will wants him, we'll have to get him eventually.
now if only they would get us some damn technobots!

I want him so freaking bad guys (he's coming on another list soon). That G1 toy is just so awesome and while I really want a rerelease, I would be ok to have him be part of Titans Return.

Well if you're super desperate, you could always check out mmc's verison, it seems pretty faithfulto the original toy...

I am not that desperate. And what I want is the G1 toy not a proxy. If a KO had been released (ala Liokaiser), I would have been desperate enough to get it. What scares me is the encore line is kinda dead and there has been some news (cant get to it now) that shows that Takara might be passing the baton of G1 reissues to Hasbro, and no longer reissuing it themselves.

This was confirmed last botcon from hasbro directly: no beast combinersfenrir72 wrote:

Right there with you guys. This does prove something rather important though: the higher price you are paying at BBTS and any american retailer has nothing to do with paint apps. It was covered a while ago that Takara figures sell locally at the exact same cost as hasbro toys and that the higher price non japanese people had to pay was all due to import fees and taxes but there was always that argument that it had to be more than that since : look at all that extra paint. That argument is no longer viable here and it really lifts and debunks any thoughts. Paint is not a significant factor in cost. The real cost is in the parts count (assembly) and QC. Anyone purchasing takara is paying more solely for the fact that there are import fees involved. It just also happens to be a nice looking figure most of the time. And that really sucks since that means that it would not have been that much extra from Hasbro to give us decos akin to Takara's in the past (or in the current RID line). Their combiner wars figures have more paint apps and their latest MP Starscream has more colour than the Takara version and they arent sold for more than previously issued figures (in comparison to Takara figures).
PS: if anyone really cares to know about manufacturing costs, it turns out that Hasbro saved quite a bit from not asking the production to sand off the mold flash on the Starscream MP. That's what let them sell it for so cheap.
fenrir72 wrote:To make it clear, my post was meant for the Guardian set. Exclusive, via special order and not retail, more expensive but different paint apps (some claim less than the Hb version)
The rest of the set that's for retail (JP anyway) are use, actually the equal price (minus taxes and shipping via 3rd party) to their Hb counterparts.

On no worries, man, I know you are very well aware of the situation, we are amiami buds afterall. I was just making a general observation in the fact that for one of the few times Hasbro is in favour in terms of the amount of paint. And I wanted to use this to ask why it was so hard for it to always be the case, or at least for the amount of paint apps to not be so blatantly less for hasbro.

We know the Torso is based on Cyclonus, as the Combiner head is Galvatronus' right? Well, what if the Torso isn't Cyclonus at all? Onslaught has shown that a torso can have an alternate head without switching out the Combiner Head.

It is pretty blatant
They sneezed a solid coat of black paint onto all the beautifully sculpted detail
I just, I can't, ugh
TT isn't even using a nicely painted smallgroove to cover up the abysmal paint shceme
