Okay, I really like how the extra rotors look on Vortex's bot mode. Kinda reminds me of Bayverse Blackout/Grindor.

And I especially love how Takara has removed all the yellow from Vortex. **** yellow.

Although, I'm not fond of the colored chest plate. I much prefer the silver.

I think Vortex looks like Incinerator from the 2007 movie toy line yes I know it's said his colors are based off G1 cartoon Vortex colors but the blue was darker in the show compared to the "Allspark blue" of Incinerator.

I would love a Generations-style Incinerator out of the HFTD Highbrow / GDO Powerdive mold. The vehicle modes are off, but the robot mode would be spot on!

Guys like him, Stockade, The Dreads, Terradive and many more most of all for me Stinger deserve to have as much in the spotlight as the overused G1 characters outside of the obscure or hardly used like Windcharger.

Stockade and wreckage were among the only movie toys I have left. I think it's been said many times but the non-movie characters turned out to be pretty fine toys. I would love to see some of these characters used again.

Bigger image just confirms my thoughts on the UW Combaticons.

1. Blast Off is way too orange-brown. He is supposed to be dark brown. Colors are way off. Which is a shame because the figure looks quite good otherwise.
2. The blue on Vortex is way too bright compared to the cartoon. Should be dark gray-blue. Otherwise the gray is appropriate. Like the show-accurate version better than Hasbro's toy-accurate version.
3. Swindle and Brawl both look good. Higher res images show off a lot of the painted detail on Swindle. It looks like they painted all of his rollbars silver. Robot mode looks good. Brawl is pretty well immeasurably different from the Hasbro version. Orange eyes are nice.
4. Onslaught's vehicle mode suffers from the Bruticus chest being painted to look like Blast Off. Robot mode looks very nice, though I am still happy with Hasbro's version.
5. Bruticus still looks pretty bad with the faux Blast Off chest. I like Hasbro's toy-accurate silver much better. I definitely don't care for the feet.

You could get this set and then get the Perfect Effect gray Bruticus upgrade set to get an almost 100% g1 toy accurate color scheme. That's probably the way to go.

I'm sure I'll like it and get used to it once we have the final versions out and in hand, I'm not a fan of upgrade kits as I spend enough money on these guys as it is, tempting as some of them are.

One pet peeve I have about brawl's turret not rotating is that it was a basic feature of the original toy. Everything else gets updated... Mixmaster and hook likewise.

The orange isn't quite right, yeah, but it might be a problem with the stock photos. Other than that, the layout and other colours are pretty spot on. By no means is he "way off"

I agree on the blue, but I actually think the grey is a bit too dark. There shouldn't be much contrast between the two shades, if you're going by the 'toon colours. He's about a tint away from being charcoal here. The blue should actually be darker according to certain episodes.

I agree, I very much welcome the paint liberally thrown at these 2. Layout of the orange on Brawl's face could use a bit of a tweak though, in my opinion. It's 3 separate crystals/lenses on the forehead. Picture makes it look like he has just a big wad of orange on there.

This is just pure opinion. Honestly I love it myself. I think it deserves Kudos for being the first Bruticus toy ever, official OR 3p that has the balls to go with the show deco.
The layout is dead on to the show in combined mode, even down to the feet resembling the full on booties of the leg mode.

Has takara had a hand in designing all of the cw figures?

Just I wondered if the reason takara was able to do more with unite warriors is because they didn't have to pay to develop all the molds. So when it came to paint apps, there was more money to spend. This is just my theory however.

I dont think they had a hand in designing any of them aside from the 2 inhouse molds. Even the extra headsculpts like Starscream, were designed by Hasbro. Takara did make the engineering do they could have planned ahead different uses or different ideas when doing that part. But I dont think this is indicative of the budget. Look at Battle Grimlock from Transformers Adventures. They totally redid that initial grimlock sculpt and arent charging much for that added work, just the price of a voyager.

This is so beautiful, I love that design. It was my favourite part of the Blackout mold and I am glad to see it used here.

Yeah, thats an awesome mold. Although I am far more fond of the vehicle mode on that toy than I am for the robot mode with the odd forearms and cockpit butt. Cockbutt?

All good points. My main beef is with the bright blue on Vortex. He has dark blue, to go with his darker and more matte tints. The fluo blue is really off. I dont mind the colours on BlastOff themselves but I think the come together super poorly in the spaceship mode. It doesnt look good at all there, looks more like a Piet Modrian painting.

I think I'm the minority here but I actually really like the blue on vortex. I know it's not accurate but I love that shade of blue.

As for blastoff I think he looks good, color choice is interesting. I hope Hasbro releases this mold in traditional blastoff colors so then I can use one as blastoff and one as a new character to give my Galvatronus a full decepticon team.

The torso bots for the Scramble City combiners were released in the standard Transformers Gum line, but the limbs were in series of their own. The Protectobots were in the G Guardian line, with Heatrock and Skyfeather as new addition (plus, those two combine into a new torso), while the Stunticons, Aerialbots and Combaticons were chucked into the Gaia Scramble line.

The Gaia Scramble ones are... odd. Worse than Combiner Wars, the bots were paired up mold-wise, only differing in the assembly and placement of key parts (Drag Strip and Wildrider are the same base mold, but have their hood and spoiler pieces switch places for example) and colors seem to be a bit random, (in typical Kabaya fashion, you get either black, red, green, or purple) all for the sake of having two color schemes per kit. The parings are:

1.) Fireflight / Slingshot
2.) Air Raid / Skydive

3.) Dead End / Breakdown
4.) Drag Strip / Wildrider

5.) Vortex / Blast Off
6.) Brawl / Swindle

Even weirder, one of each pair combine into Gaia Scramble, so if you manage to get all 12 variants, you can build two of him in different colors.

tl;dr The colors have no real basis in TF lore.

Honestly, the only one I really like is Vortex. He looks very nice. But thenrest of the new decoes aren't enough for me to spring for it. And Brawl just looks kinda dumb.

Not too crazy about how Blastoff looks. But I especially hate the Fireflight/Slingshot figure. First world problems - I just can't win with Blastoff!

The jeep front chest on Swindle is great

Blastof is definitely more brown thatn orange and the brown on the Buticus chest is a good tone too.

I especially love how it doesnt at all hurt the vehiclemode for onslaught sicne the guns are covering it.

The matching feet actually work well. For once the fact that CW feet are small give an advantage to making the illusion that they are part of the limb figures and not feet on their own.

I still find the colours clash on Blastoff's shuttle mode and I ont like the arms. That's my main negative point about all this. Still a great set!

Looking forward to getting it on nippon yassan.

One question though.

How does the tail-fin for Blast-off end up on his back, if it starts on the back of the legs?

It seems it's gotta scooch right up the torso and flip around to the other side on the way, presumably becoming part of a completely different parts assembly.

Does it just un-peg and plug back in elsewhere?
