Ha, well I am glad you have him. And I too was surprised at how well the padded envelope worked.

My BBTS order came today.

Image

I'm liking the Protectobots more than their Stunticon mold mates. The joints seem to be a bit tighter, and everything feels better executed.

Rook is amazing.

I'm glad, I was hoping Rook would turn out good. Really hoping mine will arrive tomorrow. Also, aren't you missing a limb? Just didn't pick up Blades or are you not planning on getting him?

I'll pick up the rest of the Protectobots at retail. I only preordered the ones I really wanted (First Aid because he's on the Lost Light, Streetwise for his deco, and Rook because he's awesome).

Day 2 of the downpour!

MP Smokescreen (not a KO) for 45$
Generations Cybertronian Bumblebee for 7$

And Kanrabat, after over a year, I FINALLY got every TF you recomended me way back when (MP 01, Leader Sentinel Prime, WFC Optimus, WFC Bumblebee). And you are right, this bumbblebee is super complex. A very tough transformer indeed. I like him quite a bit except for the plastic used during the WFC/FOC era which really feels cheap and far too light.

Its pretty incredible how unlike all other MP cars, this mold really feels like they were doing the G1 toy for today. I am glad to own the G1 toy just to see how deep this homage goes, especially with the arms.

Does it make you think they could have done better with Red Alert? Sure they did faux shoulder wheels, but I wish he had his doors hanging off his arms.

Sorry, I dont know enough of either the G1 toy or the MP redeco (so far, I only own one of every MP mold). Maybe Cobotron could help us out here for an opinion.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO? Me?
My over all view of all the MPs is, the G1 toys done right. Even if that means drastically changing some things. I do wish the Lambor mold had his wings, but I sleep ok at night. Also Alert's faux (another commonly used french word WJ) wheels don't bother me. The other Lambors don't have that right?
I agree with Billy's statement about the Datsuns. They really hit the redo nail on the head. I love Wheeljack for a hundred and twelve reasons, but IMO, he doesn't tickle my G1 bone as good as the others. He is too long and lanky. I wish he was a little squatier and bulkier. Maybe why I'm buying Exhaust better in this skin.

WJ, how do you feel about Smokey's feet?

PLEASE don't hate, but I think they are overly complicated for what is the most basic design so far in the MP cars. The ankle pivots are way too loose and they don't look like feet to me. But that goes away when I look at it as a straight up redo of the G1 toy with better articulation. Wheeljack beats everyone else at feet so far and I really like Lambor's multipanel leg system which works wonders (and he didnt have faux wheels, and its cool that things are coming full circle). The thing is, as Wheeljack demonstrated, you cant have things fully both ways. You either have an amazing car transformer or an amazing G1 homage. The datsuns skew towards the homage while the others skew towards the other end (which I prefer due to my lack of attachment to the G1 show and my lack of expertise in G1 toys).

Great answer! No hate from me. If we liked all the same things, we wouldn't have any fun talking about them.
That's a bummer about the ankle tilts. My Silverstreak's are nice and tight.
You're right about, "you cant have things fully both ways". Which is why this line is so intriguing with every new release. MP Mags is just NOT the same as the G1 toy, but he is amazing in his own right.

And I really do love Wheeljack. His feet are number 74 out of 112.

It sucks that yours is loose, none of my four suffer that... I hope my Blue Bluestreak is solid. But I absolutely LOVE how they made the Datsun's feet. It's crazy that they did those not-feet-stumps and still gave them that incredible range of motion.

Edit: I forgot to say earlier, the Datsun feet goes back to my old rant about car kibble as a defining feature of Transformers. It all depends on how willing any one person is to except that or not. And I'm not saying you're not WJ. ;)

*raises hand* I didn't know that! I actually don't mind the kibble on most Transformers. I'm one of those guys that thinks it actually sets them apart from all most everything else. Door Wings, Hood Chests, Cockpit Backs/Chests, I like it all as long as it doesn't get too silly (looking at you complete Penguin on shoulders Beast Wars guy :HEADHURTS: ).

He has another add now, I suggest contacting him again. And check your junk folder, a reply might end up there. I also know that he doesnt like it when people try to lower the price (because they are already quite cheap) so be weary of that just in case.

And Cobotron, I remember our kibble discussion quite well and I am all for kibble. But what really impresses me is when they use kibble and turn it into something else. For example, Leader Sentinel Prime's heels are a thing of genius. They are 3 panels from his firetruck mode that fold up connect together like a triangle. While it is made of the alt mode, it transforms into a distinct looking heel. Wheeljack's feet are pretty great too because, as I pointed out in the year end review, the front of the car actually ends up looking like a foot, even though it is still the car kibble front and center. So yes, alt mode integration is key, but I find it even better when the repurposed car kibble actually looks like what it is meant to replicate. Wheeljack's feet look more like feet than Bluestreak's stumps and they are both made of as much of the alt mode.

I may have made an error in using the word "loose". I didnt mean it in a QC way, they hold a pose perfectly well and the joint is just fine. I meant loose as in the design. That the ankle just floats there and there is very little connecting the foot to the leg (especially at the back), making it seem loose. I was not fond of that design choice as compared to Wheeljack which ends up with a very solid foot. Dont know if I am clear.

It could be that I mistranformed him but I followed the instructions pretty well to make sure that wasnt the case.
