I paid a visit to the mall yesterday evening, and decided to check out a local swap shop we have here. I managed to find a very nice Doubledealer for $35.




I was a very happy camper last night, haha!

And I agree! I've never seen a Doubledealer up until last night, and I quickly discovered just how neat his Powermaster gimmick is. I love how the Powermasters can unlock different modes based on faction. I really wish there were more like this, hah!

You got him for a damn good price too! And he's in great nick!

So today I ventured to the big smoke in the hopes of finding something ... anything ... first stop was the K-Mart up there and we actually overlooked the TF section because it was even worse than my local K-Mart.

Then went to Target because I've seen various reports and photos from Australian TF Facebook groups signalling Target is the place to go and scored ...



Went onto Big W and it was just as disappointing as K-Mart. No Gnaw, but the CW Skywarp makes up for it, now he can join his brothers.

Nice job on securing those Deluxes! I've yet to see anything but the new Combiner Force stuff and a few Sawbacks here and there. Which is a shame, because that Deluxe Twinferno is a dream come true for a Doublecross fan such as myself.

Also, is CW Skywarp impossible to find nowadays? We have quite a few at a local Meijer.

Man, I remember paying over 100$US for mine just because that damn blue chest part had to be bought separately for 25$US.

I'd definitely say luck was with me that night!
I had a talk with the store owner, and apparently they get TFs in on a semi-regular basis, so I'm definitely gonna need to keep checking back. They had a Transmetal Cheetor for $20, which I decided to apss on, as I was already spending enough.

Defenitely keep an eye out for that store. They may have stupidly overpriced toys like that Cheetor, but they DO have some underevaluated treasures like that Doubledealer. So, happy smart hunting!

Doubledealer isn't as rare as you'd think. It was still a fantastic price but a complete Doubledealer is easier and more affordable to acquire than a number of other G1 figures.

If you try to piece him together, that's where it ends up costing.

It seems like piecing together any of the -Masters is a nightmare.

Piecing together ANY G1 figure is a nightmare.

That being said, I've seen a lot of Targetmasters for Scoop over the years. I guess kids valued the weapons over things like heads and engines.

And then the package arrive...

Body, check. Both powermasters, check. Both gun parts, check. Blue chest part, ch... WHERE IS IT? The seller screwed me over?

Check the listing of the thing I bought more carefully. The blue chest part was NOT included. And the ONLY way to buy it is at 25$ from some seller.

It was the only one.

For months.

And then one day, I had to submit and bite the bullet.

The emotion was THAT intense!

And yeah, I had to buy a repro set too. Adding an extra 15$ to the overall bill.

Did you notice that for Doubledealer, the blue chest part is the most RARE to find? There's powermasters aplenty (each 40$ for reasons) and many gun parts as well, but that damn blue part... Even now on Ebay....

Well well well. Color me surprised. The powermasters are around 15 to 25$. But right now, there's 3 blue chest parts available! At 35-40$US... plus over 9000$ of shipping.

If you had someone who wasn't a collector digging through a box at a garage sale they'd see the Powermaster figure as something of interest.

A little blue piece? They're not going to see much relevance in that. It's a piece of plastic, it's not a weapon, a robot, or even anything of significance unless you knew what you were looking at.

That's probably why it's a little rarer.

Now, if you want a over-priced item in terms of size ... find me a gun for Fasttrack (Scorponok's little buddy) for under $10.

However, i do want to say there was a very nice KO available on AliBaba in the past year or 2, for around 35.
Timing was at least a year after the current Browning KO came out.

I am glad you got DD regardless, I would implore you to do some research to make sure he's legit.

Pretty sure it's legit. If I remember correctly, the KO didn't have red parts on the torso.

In my knowledge, only the OVERSIZED KO exist.

BTW, beware of any G1 "reissues" on Ebay. Most are KOs of figures that were NEVER reissued officially. Like shockwave and the Dinobots. Even if these KOs are remarquably well made.
