Online/retail perhaps in Western countries (i.e USA) but in Asia, the Coneheads are pretty hard to find ala TRU. Specialty shops.the prerquiesite inflated price range.

This extreme re-use of molds during the past couple of years is getting frustrating!

He's looking at both Hasbro and Takara. And Hasbro has rereleased that classics Optimus a ton. Same with classics rodimus and Universe Cyclonus. Takara has a few of that Universe Galvatron as well. These are all molds we have seen a bunch of and that are readily available (that more my problem with these).

Plus the AOE Evolution 2-Pack Prime.

Oh, coulda sworn he was referring to the rodimus/galvatron pack, well, it's still nice for those (like me) that haven't got either. Don't want them, you're not obligated to get them
At least the o/p megs set looks nice (for the most part *stares through Optimus' truckcab*)

If I'd been given the power I would release:
iPod Optimus Prime mold in G1 colors + the extra layer of paint
Keep the stacks
Keep the blue windshields
Keep gray Roller
Keep the fat ion rifle and the energon ax
Keep the springs
Make it an adult collector piece
Special box like the TFC or 6 shot release
A booklet detailing Optimus' history
Megs...if for Asia. a functional G1 with stockpiece like Encore with the morning star. special box, special booklet similar to the Takara Farewell Megatron set.

Nah, don't want the dumb hasbro nerfatron, 'sides this megs looks
with a little Doubt I'll be able to snag this set if it's anywhere near as much as they're asking, but I'm able to wait the year to see if it goes on clearance somewhere

Seriously, we can never go forward without looking back to the past. Though the anime Galvatron was released over a decade a go (around 2005 iirc).
Takara back then did a bit some retooling the face, changed the battery type and added Japanese voice clips aside from the sound effects.
I own this and use the Matrix that came with him on my iPod Optimus Prime G1 colors.

The size is really varied... Don't get me wrong. I have both G1 Galvy and Rodimus Prime. But, Rodimus is puny next to G1 Galvy. (Plus, G1 Roddy is really not that great a toy, in my opinion. Certainly nothing next to G1 Hot Rod!)

If, for whatever reason, the G1 toys are off the table (regardless of gun toy safety laws, mold unavailability, costs, etc), then doing some really nice slavish "Classics"/Universe/Generations "reissues" would be really nice. Do something special like make a new trailer for Classics Optimus, or do something that would set these re-releases apart from the originals. Make them truly Platinum Editions and not lazy re-releases of toys many of us own many multiples of already.
In a perfect world, these sets should be celebrating the 30th anniversary by giving us new molds of Rodimus, Galvatron, Optimus Prime, and Megatron. 3 of those molds are TEN years old already and I really don't think they're that great of toys now that I have something like Cyclonus, Wreck-Gar and Combiner Wars Superion in my collection. As for that Galvatron toy, while it would have been an awesome Voyager figure just plain isn't-all-that-great as a deluxe.
With all of that said, my basic point is this: if sets like these Platinum sets that are supposed to be celebrating the 30th anniversary aren't appealing to the very people that these sets are designed for, what's the point of them? As it stands, these sets are extremely disappointing, especially with the absurd pricing that just strikes me as an extreme slap in the face as a collector and as a Transformers fan. I am looking forward to getting to talk to the brand team about these sets at Toy Fair in 12 days.

This x infinity. It's like a veeeeeeeeeeeeeery lazy effort in Hb's part. Also tarnishes the category of "Platinum". As for the purple.....Galvatron G of Superlink purple would be BOSS.
Back to Ryan's points. It's the 30th. Who the f#ck cares? Us! The 30 yr loyal fans of the original show. Not the whiny kids but us the whiny "kids at heart" who has some disposable cash to spend. Remember thrilling 30? Not so thrilling. A very bad year for TF's even. This year we're seeing the 30th anniversery of the movie and the 20th for Beast Wars, neither of which will be anything more than a sticker on a box.
Also, I love my lilac Galvatron. He looks like he smells pretty and that's all Galvatron wants.

Well, if you only went by the thrilling 30's list of exclusive figures, then yes, otherwise I thought it was a great year for tf's one of the best even, based on the variety of the figures offered

I completely agree with this.
We had a chance here for an anime-accurate set of Rodimus Prime and Galvatron. Or possibly even Hot Rod and Galvatron. Either way - I want my magenta Rodimus and deep purple Galvatron.
Rodimus Prime might be a bit of a naff figure (blame the fact he was downsized from being the same height as Galvatron at the prototype phase), but Galvatron is, imo, easily one of the best post-diaclone era figures they made in G1.
