If you were going to reference something as awesome as the battle they had from the G1 movie at least throw in the weapons like an G1 looking Optimus rifle and Meg's energy sword. Or possibly the gun he used to kill Optimus. Personally I still don't see why Hasbro hasn't made an official trailer for the classics Op yet. None of that included with 2 figures with color schemes nowhere matching the scene makes me wish they had not wasted the idea. That means that this would be the best we get.
They're not in the business of doing that, especially nowadays

You'll be talking about Takara not Hb. Remember the TFC series where Starscream came in anime colors and came with a Megatron gun?
Or Convoy with an energon ax
Or megs with his mace/morning star thingie...........
Kind of frustrating too that instead of releasing the G1 colored G1 Astrotrain, they released a, well I don't kow what colr the last Platinum was based upon.........Landcross or the Duocons.

The two sets are sure to be eyebrow-raisers (said parts are bolded, italicized, and underlined to emphasize):• Rodimus Prime vs. Galvatron set – uses the Titanium Rodimus Prime and Universe Galvatron molds
• Another set with two Sweeps (one apparently using the Botcon Devcon head) and the Universe Cyclonus mold

Chopshop and his wavemates would be very smart purchases since those are some of the few figures that will never ever be reissued.

No, I don't remember those.

Prime is levitating in the box to give the impression that he is the same size as Megatron, who is smushed down in the box and standing spread legged. All to fool kids into thinking that these two are evenly matched.
A Prime closer to his G1 self and a grey tank Megatron both in G1size would have been perfect
Hasbro would LOVE to sell you these again!
But for $75, not $20. Totally worth it with a premium paint job though right?
Also, they're in the box that way because they're being centered on the trays. If they were doing what you say they are then Optimus would be lower on the tray, but instead he's now up higher than Megatron. Megatron's wings cause him to take the entire height of the box. And really, the difference in size between the two isn't so much that Hasbro would try to correct it this way.
As for the rumors about the next set featuring Titanium Rodimus Prime and Universe Galvatron, don't forget some of the crazy rumors we got for CW Devastator at this time last year. Titanium Rodimus isn't a terrible figure if you can overlook the lack of a neck ball joint and him being a robot donut. He is pretty big to go with that Galvatron, though. At least the Rodimus figure now has a reason to look down.

All of the things you mentioned were great for different reasons, though I do agree that an "Anime Astrotrain" release in that Platinum set would have been more satisfying for Hasbro's global market. The e-hobby one wasn't easy to track down when it was new. That said, I still like my wacky color triple changer set just on the grounds of it at least being something different.
And those TFC reissues you mention are just fantastic. I still need to get that Optimus sometime. The Megatron and Starscream are probably the definitive G1 mold variations of those characters for me.
i love that set. It would be perfect if they were bigger and Megatron was gray, with a hand. I would buy it for a $150Emerje wrote:Hasbro would LOVE to sell you these again!1984forever wrote:So much fail in this set!Prime is levitating in the box to give the impression that he is the same size as Megatron, who is smushed down in the box and standing spread legged. They look pretty cool, might have to wait to get them though, love my cw chopshop (who happens to be wielding gen targetmaster chopshop) he's pretty amazing, way better than legends skrapnel
carytheone wrote:If both were an option, the same price and where my collection is currently at; I'd choose the newer molds.william-james88 wrote:Hellscream9999 wrote:I would sooner buy this than G1 re-issues
So let me get this straight, you would rather have Titanium Rodimus over G1 Hot Rod and Universe Galvatron over a purple G1 Galvatron?
If I ever start collection G1, then I may change my mind. I tend to get a warm and fuzzy feeling of nostalgia from the G1 reissues, but they just don't have a home in my collection.
The platinum sets do seem to be all over the place lately.

Ha, well, I usually exclude Lucky Draws from my references to re-deco counts. It makes me feel better about the fact that I'll never own 99% of themSabrblade wrote:Save for that limited gold-plated Primus redeco. Purdy-looking, that thing is.ScottyP wrote:RP has never been redecoed,

Very good point! Doesn't make me any happier about another Titanium Rodimus Prime release, but that's unrelated now isn't it?william-james88 wrote:The G1 stuff did well (as noticed by several retailers selling out) but before we see the positive repercussions of that, we need to suffer through the rest of the scheduled stuff while Hasbro plans out the rest of the G1 toys to release.
