I have been really wary of getting TF's lately. I can deal with the returning of the $10 or $20 ones but when you pay that much I expect better.

I was really looking forward to this. It saddens me so much to see what it is really like.

returnofplex wrote:Seibertron is right about this one. This reissue is awful, and the price tag definitely does NOT account for quality or pack-ins. The Toys r' us reissue from 02' was better than this toy. Which I believe retailed for $39.99. Theres no way the pack-ins make up that difference.
The voice box by the way, which does feature Cullen, is just his raw voice re-reading a couple of old phrases. There isn't even any of the G1 robotic voice distortion.
I may be alone in my thinking here, but I would have appreciated some upgrades to the original mold. Maybe fix the leg joints, new head sculpt, and if they're so set on accuracy; How about an actual toon accurate color scheme? White thighs, smokestacks, fuel tanks, and grill and bumper. At the minimum blue eyes and a tinted blue windshield.
The collectors who want an original Prime, or close reissue have a ton to choose from, most of which at a better or equal price. They barely did anything to this toy to call it a "special" edition.

for a 70 dollar collectible they could have at least give him his smoke stacks. I would rather invest in the encore version there you have the smoke stacks. It just doest feel like the origonal with out them

Ok, I appreciate people are annoyed about the colours. And rightly so. But the comments about the smokestacks are just getting annoying. Hasbro CAN'T put the longer smokestacks on, ok? It's not "a slap in the face to the fans." Although the next person using that phrase should get a slap in the face. :P

I'm really not sure about this thing for including comics and/or DVDs. I appreciate it's good for people who don't own those things already, but... I've already got the G1 cartoon (complete on DVD, first season on VHS). I don't like the idea of paying extra for things I already have. Surely that's actually more of problem for fans?

My friend just bought his, from a store, his has none of the problems mentioned here.

Yeah, I totally agree on that one. If you want to complain, complain to the safety commission (which Hasbro has to answer to, as does every toy company)

It sounds like you are taking a shot at Ryan here, please clarify that.

As for the color scheme, I have a hard time telling just how bad it is without seeing it up close, but Ryan knows his stuff and I trust him.

Personally, I think if they were going to do a true 25th reissue I would have liked to have seen a lighter blue head and blue eyes.

Actually, it should have the more accurate I-pod convoy head, and blue eyes!

We all know QC varies. There are bound to be some gems out there, and there are bound to be a few pieces that are poorer in quality. Also, quality can be determined individually, some people might be happy with what Ryan got, but others would not.

So Ryan got a rejected test shot by buying one retail at Wal-Mart?? He mentioned that he picked one up this week in the Illinois Sightings thread. Your logic (and research) needs some work.

Oh, these are such surprising comments coming from you of all people. I don’t think Ryan even bought his off eBay.

Why do you have this vendetta against the staff and Ryan? :?

I admit I haven't read everything since this thread got going, but I do remember Ryan mentioning that he'd bought one retail during the course of this thread as well. Where did this thing about test shots come from? I don't recall this ever being about a test shot; my understanding has always been that this review is about the actual product.

Nekoman wrote:Oh, these are such surprising comments coming from you of all people. I don’t think Ryan even bought his off eBay.

Like I've already said, I don't think he did. To be clear about what I meant before, I'm pretty sure he mentioned in this thread as well as the IL sightings thread that he bought this retail from Wal-Mart.

My vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

Why is it so surprising from me specificly? I've had some figures with problems but i dealt with it.
And i'm not gonna bring up the reason why there's a certain group of people who carry anger to Ryan, it would just derail the thread.

---

My bad on the ebay/wal*mart thing, i was in a rush, but keep in mind this thing wasn't even supposed to appear yet for another three months, it's probably a defective wave. And a newspost full of anger over one bad sample is just a big no.

If you're spewing venom, which you seem to be, you either need to apologize or explain yourself.

I don't think you're a bad guy or anything, but you took this thread on a bad turn with some of your comments and you should man up and face that. The thread has long since been "derailed", unfortunately.

The right knee on my figure is loose. I haven't figured out what is wrong with it but it stands just fine. It just flops back/down when I'm holding the figure.

There was also a problem with one of the arms where part of the spring inside was sticking out between two of the plastic halves that form his arm. I carefully took his arm apart and put the spring back in properly without any problems. I imagine this problem will be limited to just mine.

OMG! WTF? I am speechless!

Sorry, that was my term for the Wal-Mart Masterpiece Prime that came out last year. It had that awful orange/red paint job and it looks like a slightly darker version of this Prime.

That do be DVD Prime. ;-)

And that was more orange than pink. Hasbro seems to have issues getting the color red right as of late, lol.

I'm still alittle surprised at the price tag on this. That voice box must be hella expensive to make. ;-)
